That's why I don't wanna upgrade from my S10. The s22 is almost perfect, it's just the screen resolution is 1080p, and my S10 is 1440p. I ordered the s22 ultra and it was way too big for me. Returned it immediately
@@kirakira9906 I agree, honestly I think everyone blew up 4K a lot more than it's worth. 2K seems to be my sweet spots when I am looking at displays, but 1080p is perfectly fine. I have a 240hz 1080p samsung curved screen in my home that I could put side by side with my Sony X950G 4K tv and you'd be hard pressed to say that the image on the Samsung is not better than the Sony. There are so many variables besides the resolution that makes a display look great.
Definitely S22 for me... for $200 extra, there's no difference (I know there are some but nothing major) other than screensize and battery. Samsung should've put 12GB Ram for S22+ at least.
S22+ has UWB if I'm not mistaken, 45W (which really isn't a big deal), Wi-Fi 6e (which is a big deal, 3x times faster and futureproof), better battery life, not that bigger and heavier, and really not much more. I went with the S22 vanilla as well :)
Can someone give an honest review about battery life on the smaller s22 with regular use, no games just a couple of Videos here and there and social media for whole day
The regular S22 won't last all day with regular use, you will need to charge it twice or at least that's what I do, that's the weak point but the compact design its perfect for use with one hand
@@jamalonso2360 yeah the battery life is definately weak but its the perfect size for me so im ok with it. Im not into those super big phones in my pocket especially after u throw a case on it the phone becomes even bigger might as well be walking around with a mini tablet. The s22's perfect size and one handed use is a well worth it trade off for its weak battery life in my opinon. I offload freight for a trucking company for 10hours a day and its constant work so im barely on my phone anyway except for the 45min break we get so i still end work with 80%-85% battery life.
I had pre-ordered the S22+ and it works as said in the video. The battery life is great with normal use I get 1.5days with 10% to go. I charge it with my M1 MB air charging adaptor. It charges from 10 to 100 within 2 hours. The camera is great, very detailed images. The only COMPLAIN I have is with the vibration motor, I have missed every call while on silent(vibration) mode when the phone was in my pocket. The settings I have on are adaptive brightness and variable refresh rate on with these I get the above battery life figures ( I don't do any gaming ). The screen is awesome while using in direct sunlight. Connectivity with my airpods gen 2 is good as well, no issues with that. I got it with the Google Fi offer for $650 the 256gb version. If I had to pay $1000+ I would get an Iphone instead but at the price point I got S22+; to me it's a solid purchase. I use my phones for at least 3-4 years.
Beautiful phones! I preordered the Galaxy S22 in the exclusive color of Graphite. The one and only thing that disappoints me is that Samsung gave these phones smaller batteries compared to their previous flagships.
The s22+ I feel is that sweet spot for this year galaxy lineup. I am upgrading from the note 10+ on Verizon so I'll get to see what 5G is all about and just a better all around device. Had to get the s22+ in green. Great review.
@Carl Gunderson Samsung has been downgrading since s20, removing features like headphone jack, sd card slot and lowering resolutions. They're trying to seperate their S22 and S22+ from S22ultra.
@@jela9706 Its battery is dissapointing compared to something like the IPhone 13 but you can get around 6-7-8 hours if youre scrolling social media or web browsing. In heavy usage like gaming you could get 3- 4 hours. No problem for me tbh since it goes from 0-90% in a hour
I bought the S22 and it feels so small even for my small hands, but mostly because I was used to using a huge phone (my previous phone was Galaxy A70) so I still need a little bit of time getting used to the small screen. Lowkey regret not getting the plus, but it's a huge upgrade for me regardless so I'm super happy with the phone!
@@melo3427 I have the s22 and I can confirm I came from the a20 and this phone does feel kinda small but nothing to different where I can't stand it the battery life is the only down side and storage
This is a major problem as these phones shoot for an 8K video which chews up storage very quickly and taking away the micro SD card is a horrible thing for those of you who are truly cell phone photographers
When iphone users get messages from other iphones. You can like their messages by holding it but with this phone only works for Samsung users. I've only had it for two days still trying to figure it out. It is shaped like the iphone now.
Got my new S22 plus about 3 weeks ago. I upgraded from the S10. I have experienced 3 separate issues since having the phone. First while using the phone it locked up and gave me an internal server error. Secondly at times the screen view would shutter or shake in an up and down motion. Lastly the touch screen completely locked up and didn't recognize my touch. I could still receive calls and text, the buttons for volume and other features continued to work, but no response from the touch screen. I tried doing a reset and power off, but the screen didn't recognize my touch. After not being able to use the phone for about 30 minutes it suddenly flashed a few times and then began to work as normal. I contacted T-Mobile and Samsung trying to get a replacement phone as there is obviously something wrong with the one I have.
super weird, do you have a screen protector by any chance? I put one on my phone and removed it in like an hour, it interfere way too much with the fingerprint scanner, the proximity sensor and touch response. It wasnt cheap and it looked great, but it altered the functionality of the phone.
@@stever8574 yeah that's all well and good. I just wonder what that'll be like after 2 years? I'm assuming you're planning to use it that long. If you get a 2 day battery phone, after 2 years it's a 1 day battery phone and that's great. You get a 1 day battery phone, after 2 years?

I actually did upgrade, from the S21, to the S22, because I wanted a smaller form factor ,.. and I think many others might make the same decision as well.
Worried about the battery life of the S22. If it lasts a day now, in two years it'll probably last half a day. I'm considering the S21 plus for that huge battery, what do you advise? I don't prioritize battery btw, just how it'll hold up after 2 to 3 years. Thanks.
My S21+ would last all day but the stand by battery drain was really bad for some reason. Traded it for a phantom white S22 and the screen quality difference alone is worth the upgrade. While the s21+ is still an amazing phone, even though I have big hands, the regular S22 showed me that maybe for once it's a good idea to downsize. Battery life is fine, really. As long as you don't spend your time gaming on it, I wouldn't worry about it.
@@sebastienmaza4757 can you please say how the screen is better? Is it the pixel density or something else? Cuz I think they use the same 1080p resolution. Thanks. Oh and I hear the standby time of the S22 is excellent.

Currently watching this on the s22+. In the small time I've used it, it seems to be an upgrade from my s9+. The screen is beautiful, and hopefully the battery is batter.

@@nkf2399 Sure. I've only been using the phone for half a day now. The battery is a small upgrade, not by much, but maybe that's because I had my brightness all the way up lmao. The bixby button has been removed which is great. The cameras are fantastic, like absolutely fantastic! I haven't tested ar yet but I'm sure it's great. The s22+ fits in my hand almost exactly the same as the s9 plus, despite the screen being bigger. The phone runs absolutely flawlessly. If you want to upgrade, I don't see why you'd regret it. Its funny that everyone talks about how nice the phone looks, glass back and so on. You never see the phone again because we all use a cover/case, so basically it doesnt matter at all how the phone looks like 😂
I've had S22+ for 2 weeks now. Dissapointed after using Huawei P30 Pro for the past 2 years. Battery life is just awful which is a huge surprise for a phone that was released 1 month ago, if you don't use your phone that much it will probably last the whole day otherwise you will need to charge it 2 times a day. Camera quality feels average. Overall it just doesn't feel like an upgrade at all maybe it is just me though, this is just my opinion on it.
I am probably in the minority, but I feel like most normies like myself, don't really care about the camera features. Most people I know use the camera every blue moon, but that's what all the major companies are focused on.... As I'm writing this, I totally forget that social media is a thing, and I pretty much hate social media, but I realized that's the crowd that these companies are appealing to.... Personally, my idea of an amazing phone is something this powerful that can last 3 to 4 days, not barely make it through one day.....
Agree I’m 38 I hate that everyone uses the phone to take a pic of every stupid possible thing.. omg a full moon ( takes pic) just google the dam full moon pic .. stupidity lol but anyways looks like a cool phone .. I’ve gone back and forth with iPhone and galaxy phones but haven’t had a sauna in in like 4-5 years think it’s time to switch back ..
Good review mate , and your points about camera functions not being easy to work out or operate correctly i could not agree more. And this is not just an issue with galaxy phones.
You forgot to mention the refresh rate on these two phones does NOT drop to 10hz to save power. It drops to 48hz only. This is a huge oversight, and the battery life is significantly affected by this. Customers need to know this before making a purchase. Do better Engadget.
The shame is that Samsung has given up on their fan base and tried to turn their phones into iPhones they've taken away the headphone jack the expandable storage and now the charger they've put square edges on the phone and got rid of the code screen and this is nothing that Samsung fans wanted but they did it anyway deeply said and will no longer Buy Samsung phones the last decent phone Samsung made was the note 9

You should do all Endgadget's reviews. Thank you👍 I agree that Sammy fails to explain many of the features they have. For instance, before S22 series they failed to explain the auto-frame feature which has been there since Fold 2. It has never been easy to find it. The same goes for their version of photographic styles which has been there since One UI 1.
I dont want reverse wireless charging... there are so many features added to these phones nowadays but I see them as just gimmicks. Is the majority of people really pushing for reverse charging?
I have a Samsung A51. The Battery life lasts all day on a single charge up. If I am going to pay a lot more money for the S22+ I need to be getting a lot more than battery life.
American S22 owners: How bad is battery life really? Commenters are complaining a lot, but I really don't need more than like 5 hours of screen on time.
@@ThePasindu I did buy one because I had a trip coming up and the ZenFone 9 hadn't come out yet. Battery life is fine. FIRST TIME IN OVER 4-5 YRS IVE WATCHED ENGADGET, AND HOW FAR MENY MORE CHANNELS HAVE CAME, i just fell away from getting a new phone every year. My first smartphone was a sony experia 10i / 2010 or 2011. Then all S series samsungs from the s2 - s10 lite,
After using Samsung Galaxy S22+ for more than two months, I am sad to report that I regret buying it. Knowing what I know now I would have bought an iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max instead of Samsung Galaxy S22+. After using the phone for more than two months and also reading other online reviews, I can conclude that the main problem with Galaxy S22+ is its Exynos 2200 chip which equips the variant sold in Europe. The problems which I saw: - My Bluetooth headphones didn't work with this phone. i had to buy a new pair. - When I browse the internet during Whatsapp calls. I get breaks in the audio. This happens all the time. - The battery life is poor. A one day trip to somewhere will run the battery flat. I was able to use my previous phones in the same way and my phones had still battery by the end of a one day trip. - Samsung's bloatware. Ever since I bought this phone, I have been busy turning off all kind of services from Samsung which I don't need and I don't want. - Each time there is a software update, the user interface becomes slower and the animations in the user interface present glitches which I hadn't noticed before the update.
I brought the regular s22 for £500 brand new and imported from japan and Korea it is the snapdragon 8 gen 1 version which is significantly better than the European version and way better in value than the plus model

It gets 1750 nits, yes, but there should be an asterisk there. To get the full 1750 nits, you have to turn auto-brightness off, and turn on another setting to get that. The 45 watt charging is also deceptive as recent tests show that the charging time between 25W and 45W is not very different. If you get this phone, use the 25W as it probably preserves battery life and charges in about the same time.
Charging is horribly slow on my S22+ compared to my previous Huawei Mate 20 pro from 2018... Despite using the 45w charger with the 5A cable. Not about to shell extra cash to get the newer charger before there are any reviews on the difference between the 45w chargers.
I don't think Samsung's strength is the hardware only. Their software capability is top notch. For the camera alone, it provides so many more convenient features and customization compared to Iphone. Apps such as Samsung Internet and Good Lock are also very handy.
Cameras have been the focal point for way too long, God that's all I hear anymore. That's what happens when you no longer have the desire or the drive to innovate. We need to start seeing some groundbreaking tech here to justify the high prices. Something.. Anything.. Seems like they remove more features than they add these days while still demanding the same price as the model from the previous year. They justify that with oh well the processor and cameras are marginally better.
Thanks man, great review. I'm considering whether to upgrade from my galaxy s10 to the s22, but not sure about the downgrade in screen resolution. Do you have any thoughts on how noticeable it is?
WQHD or FHD+ is not noticeable on smaller 6+ inch phone screens.. Samsung needed WQHD for their Occulus VR, but since they dropped VR after the S9 its not needed anymore. I used to put my S10 on FHD+ to save battery anyway while it could be put on WQHD.
Yeah I upgraded from an s10+ and I too thought the resolution would be a downgrade also but I can safely tell you it's not. Honestly it seems like it's actually shaper even tho it's a lower resolution especially on text.
A tenth of an inch? Inches are in dividends of 8ths. If you're going to do a video on details, ensure your details are correct. Otherwise, a decent job reviewing.

If I had to pay $1000+ I would get an Iphone instead but at the price point I got S22+; to me it's a solid purchase. I use my phones for at least 3-4 years.
Well if you had to pay $1k or more you could consider the S22... I think price wise no phone is worth the amount companies ask, nor Apple nor Samsung.

Beautiful phones! I preordered the Galaxy S22 in the exclusive color of Graphite. The one and only thing that disappoints me is that Samsung gave these phones smaller batteries compared to their previous flagships.

I bought the S22 and it feels so small even for my small hands, but mostly because I was used to using a huge phone (my previous phone was Galaxy A70) so I still need a little bit of time getting used to the small screen.

@S.M how long we have to run to it is a factor though. Overtime, battery life won't be the same.
The phone would have to be a literal brick to be this powerful and last 3-4 days lol.

The problems which I saw:
- My Bluetooth headphones didn't work with this phone. i had to buy a new pair.

Seems like they remove more features than they add these days while still demanding the same price as the model from the previous year. They justify that with oh well the processor and cameras are marginally better.
Great review
I just ordered a Samsung Galaxy s22 Plus 256gb (Snapdragon Chip) an 2years of Samsung Care+
Anxious for it to Arrive '
How are you liking it? I'm coming from an S10e and I'm worried about battery life and fingerprint reader location.
Thanks man, great review.
I'm considering whether to upgrade from my galaxy s10 to the s22, but not sure about the downgrade in screen resolution. Do you have any thoughts on how noticeable it is?
S22 will look better than S10 in QHD. The brightness is the caveat here.
I just got it. It isn't noticeable at all.
A tenth of an inch? Inches are in dividends of 8ths. If you're going to do a video on details, ensure your details are correct. Otherwise, a decent job reviewing.
Speaking to fast, but still a good review

*The crypto market has been favourable in the past weeks, I keep missing out on this opportunity, I'm most certainly very impatient how can I ever make a profit in the crypto market.*
There are platform where you can invest and they trade your money. Then pay you profit either weekly or monthly. That's investing.

Overly soft audio…check your audio level
I agree the sound on myb22 ultra is terrible bad compared to my S9 plus....totally disappointed 😞
A surprisingly decent review, kudos Sam!
