Samsung was known for pretty awful software and skin of Android back in the S1-S8 days. Pretty much from the Note 9/S10 onwards they have had great software so you have a lot to look forward too and enjoy getting used to
Another tip for saving battery life: Turn "double tap to wake" off. Double tap to wake is a feature where if you just tap on your screen twice it will light up and if you double tap during normal screen it will turn off display which is the same as pressing side button. When you have this feature on the screen is constantly draining battery by readying to detect any tap on screen. So turn it off can save some juice.

So I got myself a S22 plus 256 GB while still being deeply attached to my S7 Edge. I disabled all the new apps and made my S22 look and behave exactly like my old phone. I think I will keep both and use the new one just for taking photos. I love my Samsung so much.

HIDE YOUR NAVIGATION BAR people! The nav bar is constantly displayed on the screen - it can and WILL burn in on your OLED screen. This happened to my old S8. Same applies to the status bar - the battery icon, signal & wifi strength indicators will also burn in. Note: "burn in" is not exactly what's happening - the pixels of the nav and status bar are always lit, and they are always a light or white color. Over time their brightness diminishes to the point, that they appear as tho they have burned in. Dark mode will not solve this, since the visual elements in these bars will still be bright. Just put as many apps as you can in full screen (especially the browser, since that is used for hours each day), and hide your nav bar entirely and use gestures instead.
Showing the navigation bar makes gestures more responsive and Samsung was aware of this, the bar is partially transparent so it can shift pixels to avoid burn in
Upgraded from galaxy 9. I miss the LED indicator for charging/text messages. I also don't like that you can't press the home button to turn on the screen. But the battery is better, the phone is lighter overall. The 9 was a brick! I have more storage. If they weren't phasing out the 3G by June, I probably wouldn't have made the upgrade. 6:55 you don't close your background apps nowadays anymore to save battery, if this is your intention. you actually use more battery to fully re-open apps instead of using the cached data to access where you've been. "closing" them is btw not stopping them from running in the background ( since you always get notified no matter the app is open or not)
@@discoveramerica8097 that was what you used to do back in the days, where apps where really closed this way. nowadays the way the operating systems handle apps changed. you still get messages and notifications even the app is "closed"? yes, because it still runs in the background. what you see when viewing the "open apps" is an image, a cached shortcut where you've been in the app the last time. a shortcut to skip some of the initial steps when fully open/reload an app. this cache is consuming almost no energy and without the shortcut you don't only have to wait while "opening" the app again, it also drains more battery without it. so, you better leave this outdated advice where it belongs and keep apps "open". you can do your own research on that topic, be careful if the articles you read are up to date and have trustworthy technical background information. I've worked as an technician for years. you did close apps that way on old phones, but not anymore

Thank you very informative
RUclips burbd it as well (I do watch a TON of videos)
Showing the navigation bar makes gestures more responsive and Samsung was aware of this, the bar is partially transparent so it can shift pixels to avoid burn in
Upgraded from galaxy 9. I miss the LED indicator for charging/text messages.
I also don't like that you can't press the home button to turn on the screen.
But the battery is better, the phone is lighter overall. The 9 was a brick! I have more storage.
If they weren't phasing out the 3G by June, I probably wouldn't have made the upgrade. But it's a good phone. I don't regret it!!!!
I just upgraded from the Galaxy S5! It was getting a little old, but still worked fine.
Im made they removed the Colored LED notifications
Try double tap to turn on the screen. It works on my S10 with android 12, so hopefully it will still work on S22
Eh? I've got an S8 and it supports 4G...
Edge lighting. There is also an app that makes the camera ring a notification light it works with the always on display
1:00 Cool feature - but missing the S7 function where I can schedule the mobile to restart at a specific time on the day/time
I really appreciate ur video. Thanks a million.
Great tips and tricks, thank you! I want to remove the time from my status bar, can you help me? I have a Note 10.
I will probably have mine in like 2 to 3 weeks cant wait
Just got mine this Friday!
@@anitasandwich69 HOW'S YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH THE PHONE? THANKS BTW WHAT MODEL IS IT?
Did you get it?
You seem to have different animation and blur effects during navigations. How did you do that?
Hey man thanks I think I am going to go ahead and buy this phone. All of your going aheads really gave me a good go ahead before I go ahead and buy this phone.
I am used to getting big phones but now i dont game on it so i just want something that fits in my pocket nicely :) this is gonna be different for me but im so excited to customize and get all the coolest cases 😍
Keyboard definitely is the best I am English bit live and work in another country and can flip between 2 keyboard easily!
Love the tip for the bigger keyboard! On the Plus, is there a way to have a text notification light showing until I check it?
That's what I miss the most! Looking over at my phone and seeing the blinking light since I work nights and my ringer is always off... My last Note20 and now the 22 got rid of that beautiful little led light 😒
Is the software update worth doing on the s22?

There is a version for Samsung production for Europe and there is also a ROW version. What is the ROW version???
I tried to keep track of how many times you said “go ahead and” but my brain liquified
i rly like your videos and it's super helpful. it would be great to change up your words tho, i think i heard cool million times lololol maybe other adjectives would be nice, just a suggestion haha :)
IF YOU USE NAVIGATION BUTTONS (INSTEAD OF GESTURES) ON THE BOTTOM, CAN I CUST9MIZE LONG PRESS OPTIONS FOR THEM?
6:55 you don't close your background apps nowadays anymore to save battery, if this is your intention. you actually use more battery to fully re-open apps instead of using the cached data to access where you've been. "closing" them is btw not stopping them from running in the background ( since you always get notified no matter the app is open or not)
But everyone say always close background if you want to save battery
I just got one. I'm going to try these functions out, today. Good tips, man. Thank you.
Does s22 got heating issue when using social media n utube?
@@ruhipascio6532 With a case on, the temp rises.
Hey where did you get Google camera module app please sent me the link I have s22plus or else make a dedicated video regarding how to add Google camera module app in s22 series
Moving from S10+ to S22+. Do you know if we can still make our own "categories" for our text messages? I only see "all", "personal" and "business". Text Categories is a HUGE timesaver. Thanks!
im probably late for the reply but in samsung message (as far as i remember) it is still possible to do text categories
selling my 13 pro and buying a Samsung was the best thing I did this year
Same
Why is that? I am planning to get my first ever iphone ever. Been an android user from a decade plus.. Please suggest are iphones that bad. I know I would miss custom roms, fast charging, type c etc few is what I know..
@@roninr8199 It is very limited in many things. it is literally a mid range phone with flagship price. you are paying for the name/brand. Try it out anyway, sell it if you dont like it.
@@drex339 no thank you 😂. My aunt at home has iphone and she keeps asking me for help
She accidently deleted message and there was no option of undo 😂😂later came to know that only through icloud we can restore it..
do we have to manually check for software update, cant it be done automatically?
Don't worry, it should still show it automaticly.
I also make a point to opt out of all of the tracking and data collection. Samsung is so bad about this, there's literally so much stuff they collect it's so frustrating constantly trying to find what's being shared and harvested. They install so much stuff and then there's also all of the google apps that track and collect data. I restrict all of it and disable everything I don't use and for the apps that can be uninstalled, I uninstall them.
Yeah I take a good hour in the beginning with Samsung phones to get rid of the bloat
lot of added bloat without asking people if you want to use it or not, everything is enabled by default
What do you think if I switch in 2023 from iPhone 13 to s22
I made a major error last night and clicked allow instead of deny. Long story short, I am be covered in notifications from some spam site.....any suggestions?
