Great video; my good old MG6150 started giving me this 6C10 error today and I could fix it in under 2 hours based on your explanations. Best regards from Spain!
Chirantha, thank you for this video. Showing how the entire cam sensor system worked enabled me to fix my MX882 without having to dismantle the cover. I was going to buy a new printer because I had cleaned everything else, but until your video I was not aware that one part was not moving properly.
I never thought I would be taking apart my printer, but my old MX860 gave me this 6C10 error code after I tried the nozzle cleaning function in software, and I thought it was headed for the garbage, but saw your video and thought I'd give it a try. There was a pretty good size coating of clumping ink on the thingamagig, which I cleaned off. Put it back together and after thinking about it for awhile, it decided to work again! Thanks for the video, it helped.
Thank you very much for this video! I cleaned the wiper blade cleaner and put the spring back in place and that solved my 6c10 error on my Canon Pixma MX882 printer. Ten years and this is the second time I’ve had to repair this printer, but it’s better than having to get a whole new printer just due to one malfunctioning component. Manufacturer won’t repair it, and most repair shops will tell you it’s cheaper to get a new printer. But DIY is indeed the lowest cost (perhaps not in time). Thanks again for the detailed video explanation!
Excellent! Very clear and helped me perfectly. Oh @ 4:00 when he says be careful you dont drop it... he's right. Take a photo before you remove the bit as you might put it back the wrong way. I dropped it and dont know which way it goes back. 50/50 chance!
Brilliant posting. This did indeed fix the 6C10 error on my IP3600 - the wiper blade, gear notch, and clear vinyl push were clogged with ink. Took a leap of faith that I wouldn't destroy the printer cover panels trying to figure out how to take them off - just needed a screwdriver to pry on the pieces since it's a snap together assembly. Thanks again.
Absolutely brilliant..thank you. The cam micro switch wasn't activating ( measured with a DVM ) Used switch cleaner now it works all ok. Had a problem removing the side panels on my IP3600 until I realized I had to remove the main lid and slide the the RHS and LHS top back quadrants forward to get access to two more release clips for the side panels. The rest was relatively easy. Thanks again Chirantha :-)
Thanks for this video. It helped me understand and fix my MG5100. The Cam Valve Sensor (a microswitch) is in a different place but the wiper unit and the sponges which catch ink are all very similar.
Very informative video - excellent description of how these printers work. I have an MP560 which is similar enough in design for me to work out how to fix my printer. Thank you!
so i removed that thing right there in 4:04. And everything seem to be working fine after that. I did not put it back and also a little spring on top of it got removed to and fell inside the printer. Do i need to put it back when everything is working now? what is the use of that thing?
Alan Martires the spring ensures that the wiper blades get a proper clean, without the spring, its possible that the wiper blade cleaner will just get stuck on one position. If you find time to lift up the printing unit (you don't need to remove to entire thing from the bottom base). Use a magnet to locate the spring or attach a powerful magnet to your screw driver and poke it in carefully, hopefully if the spring is directly down there it will get attached to it. You can try shaking printing carefully (waste pads are full of ink) and hopefully the spring might jump outside.
I have the problem that I need to force the gears with my hand or it'll never engage. Also the ink absorber sits low and if I push lightly on it from top, it instantly falls to the bottom. What could that be?
В моем случае оказалось поломка печатающей головки. Была сделана проверка на рабочем принтере с рабочей печатающей головкой. Произвел замену головки с ошибкой на рабочий принтер и через пару минут ошибка появилась.
My printer is Canon Pixma iX6500 & it seems like these printer mechanism are more or less work in same way. So, My printer doesn't show any error messages instead, it recalls that, the front paper tray is closed & won't print where as its not close in real. For some reason, I guess its sensing that the paper tray is still shut off. Any suggestion would be a great help. Thank you.
my printer gets idle for several months and i get this error and i think that what you have explained is exactly what is happening to my canon MP630 but the problem is i cant dismantle it..
I have a canon printer ip4760 error 6c10, I do not know English should not hear you say in the video, you can write to 6c10 troubleshooting guide to help me? Thank you very much
Hi Chirantha, Having fixed my error using this system some months ago, it has re-appeared. I have repeated your advice but find that the cam system does not engage when I reverse the rotation of the shaft. It moves close to the correct position, but I have to increase the movement by pressing with my finger. It then rotates the cam. However having rotated correctly, it returns to the starting position and once again wont engage without help. Can you help in any way? Many thanks. JC
+Jonathan Crispin check the spring on the cam shaft. If it is not properly place the system won't lock on the cam so you need "force". The spring is seen at 3:12. Also check if that gear is not free.

Thank you Chirantha! The only resource available that shows the actual mechanism and explains how it works!

A lot of work to get into the printer itself, but washing the wiper blade is what fixed it for me. Thanks a lot man, saved me some bucks

Thanks from Russia! Nice tutorial video )
Thank you. This worked for me, though I had to find another video to show me how to open the printer.
I have a MX870 and need to watch a video on how to open the printer casing.

Awesome job, thanks! It was only my spring that was out of place but this helped me understand the cam system.

Thanks for the Video! I will give my iP4700 a good cleaning IF I can get the dang thing dismantled.... without breaking anything! ;)

пружинку не ставил, подложил пластинку по толще. ошибок нет, всё работает.
