Nobody in their right mind who knows the Masca area would do what this young chap did. The area off the road is a death trap, the road itself is a potential death trap. Instead of blaming everyone look at the mistakes. Tenerife in June, there is no water available, temperatures will rise rapidly, doesn't know where he is, no phone, no food, not equipped for a ten hour walk. End the blame game now and face a reality.
Dehydration and messed up electrolyte levels, especially low potassium makes a person act as a dementia sufferer would. Considering Jay was lost on the mountain, exposed to the heat when he'd already been partying, drinking for considerable hours prior at NRG festival prior to ending up where he did. I was hospitalised just last year due to my electrolyte levels ( potassium especially) going haywire following a bout of gastro enteritis. I could not even fathom my date of birth, nor answer the doctors simple questions. It took 2 days of iv drips and antibiotics before my 'commonsense' came back but the doctors honestly thought I had dementia (despite being in my 40's) and obviously my bloods indicated the dehydration issue and my subsequent madness caused by it! I could not even speak, nor get myself a glass of water at home prior to the 5 day hospital admission. That experience made me realise how quickly the effects of dehydration can render anyone, whether young, or elderly it will make you a danger to oneself with the total inability to think clearly or with rationality. I could only describe it as akin to pilots doing hypoxia training (with the benefit of hindsight of course). All I can say in Jay's defense is, that if he was suffering dehydration which caused him to make unsafe and otherwise out of character decisions which made no sense to the friend group from England he went to Teneriffe with, then hopefully Jay's family will, hopefully get some further information that will stop the mental torture they've suffered for weeks, whilst online conspiracy theorists have dragged their son's name through the mud, and an irresponsible wannabe 'investigative journalist has been adding to and speculating that once Jay got to Teneriffe he suddenly became Pablo Escobar, a thief and 'feared' UK gangster stories circulating which ended up forcing a victim of crime to express his empathy and concerns for Jay's family and the fact the young man was missing and needed to be found!! Meanwhile morons on social media did their upmost effort to cause the Espanol police investigators to be bogged down with 'red herrings' and false motives etc when the Spanish investigators have never been known for their deftness, especially when it involves a young English lad whose winded up missing after raving then leaving with 2 strangers!! Sure enough he was found close to where his phone last pinged ........ which makes us all wonder why the hell that exact area wasn't searched with a fine toothed comb by police and search and rescue on DAY ONE, when there was a higher possibility of finding Jay alive⁉️ His poor family will be asking that question for the rest of their lives, never knowing how long he likely was lost, praying to be rescued by helicopter, locals just anyone and that adds to the tragedy they're all overwhelmed by.
