I own a Sport glide which I bought brand new in 2018, my father died and I was left a little bit (not much), and wanted to have something I could keep rather then watch the small amount of cash disappear.
I originally walked into the Harley dealer (have owned Harley's for about 10 years by then, with the aim of buying a street bob, sat down with dealer and then started adding screen, bags etc, so he said well if you going to spend that sort of money what about the Sport glide?. I had heard of it, but at the time it was a new bike so hadn't seen one, he had one tucked away waiting to be sorted out for its new owner, which he showed me, instant yes.
For me the Sport glide done everything, the price was right, the bits on the bike was right and it looked much nicer (to me) than the street bob.
The other thing I like about the sport glide is that you can very quickly take off the screen and panniers and you have something that resembles a fatboy anyway.
When it comes to Harley Davidson's the spec game isn't something that bothers me, I mean if I was going to buy a sports bike then yeah I will be looking at everything spec wise.
I have now had the Sport glide for nearly 5 years, and I still love riding it, such a smooth and easy to ride bike, people bang on about EVO's (I have owned evos)) and back in the day they were great, but the twin cams were so much better to ride and in my opinion the new M8 softtails are so much more modern and better than both. My memories with EVO's were more about repairing them than great ride outs, and cleaning them because back then they were getting old in the tooth.
I think the only Harley I would consider now would be the low rider ST if I were to get a new Harley, but the Sport glide still does what I want (wish I had a radio and sat nave though).
As for foot boards, I have never liked having them on a bike, I had them on a bike years ago and ended up taking them off.
As for the seat, I don't know how tall you are, but I have the reach seat on mine, and it really supports the lower part of my back nicely, it does push you forward though, so if your really tall it might make the bike cramped.
