Well honestly, for being such a horrible person, both as a husband and a father, heck as a freaking individual. He doesn't deserve such happiness! He's racist, uncaring, really a terrible human being overall. He deserves it!
for anyone who wants context, peter did a take a photo everyday for a year, until a few days in, he meets the kid from the grudge, after witnessing the kid, he starts looking more terrified and depressed in the pictures, growing a beard and looking more dead inside then ever, and then it cuts to peter and his pals at the clam, peter still looking awful, and he says "yeah, so, we're thinking about selling the house." so the thought of this for a doomsday cover is unbelievably perfect
i think saying it lacked a sad vibe is a bit disingenuous, it definitely took it slower than the rest of the song and made it clear that THIS is why squidward's feeling this way
What I imagine is that from BF’s pov he’s just rapping against a guy who’s a little sad, and since he’s canonically slow, he wouldn’t pick up on Peter being suicidal. It’s only when Peter hangs himself does BF realize Peter was actually serious about ending it and is completely shocked, hence why the music goes dead silent as Peter hangs from a ceiling.
I could imagine the family up and left Friends gone or moved Even Braine got sick and tired and just moved on Now Peter is no longer a “family guy” He’s just *a guy*
i feel like this is a epsiode where peter lost lois due to her divorcing him for all the times he attacked the kids and where she finally had enough of him and decided to leave with the kids and staying at her parents house, brian followed as well (leaving peter) because he knew peter was not in the right mindset and the only thing peter wants to do is to do dumb things and cutaway gags. after peter goes home alone and depressed for everything happening he try to distract himself with a computer but it does nothing good for him and he starts to think about them, knowing they will never return peter start to get a rope ready because he was remembering all the memorys he had about his family but then they switch to all the memorys where the family hate him, moving aside the good ones only for the bad. this makes peter more depressed as he starts to put the rope around his neck jesus suddenly appears and try to convince peter his time is not up yet and to make peter see the better side of his life but this only delays the inevitable as slowely death appears in the background for every second jesus try to stop peter. at the end death is fully visible now and is standing at the window watching peter as he swings from the rope and as jesus walks away from the home. the scene cuts to the outside of the family guy home as it lays quiet, no background noises, no cars, planes, children or even ambience noises can be heard, on the sound of the noose moving back and forth. then the screen cuts to black.
I think to make it even more depressed, it could also have his own firends leaving him for the amount of abuse and damages that he caused to them. First being Joe moving away from Peter, then Quagmire, then Cleveland, and eventually he'll be all alone with no one to comfort him but his own mistakes.

BF's laugh during this felt so undeserved in the original version, but fitting since he had no idea what was going on with Squidward. This version however feels like 100% karmic retribution.
