This literally works as Jumpman was the oldest version of Mario, similar to how Red has Game Boy and GBA iterations. At least Glitchy Red was lucky that the original design is used by Nintendo quite often (except Smash Bros and certain animes, where the GBA design is used). Jumpman got the shorter end of the stick.
So this stick is either an abomination or a tree minus the trunk and everything below said trunk interesting

This is the best isotope cover I've ever heard, it's close enough to the original, the beginning part before the "what, am I some kind of joke to you?" Is amazing, and so is the line where he express how lonely he is, he even says that donkey Kong was one of the things that gave his life purpose, and in the original game donkey Kong is supposed to be the villain of the original game, it's actually sad.

I think the lullaby mario mix remixes have been some of the best yet, they really feel like they have way more effort put into them then they should have lol. Great job like always Fire.
Something I've always admired and loved about your music is that the voicelines are actually implemented in to the song and don't sound like they're just stapled over the song, a lot of fnf songs that include voice lines fall flat on that part. Like listen to that "no" at 1:27 there's so much oomph behind it, the absolute devoid of emotion but just that tinge of anger, it's amazing and leaves such a strong impact! Voice actor did an amazing job on this one!

Story Because why N O T:
Mario was one for having weird dreams. Be it the crazy adventures he had, strange tasting food, or even a spell from a magikoopa. But nothing could have prepared him for this dream. he was in a void, with red girders that stretched far into the infinite sky. Using his jumping know-how, he jumped from girder to girder until he stumbled on one. On the Girder was a statue, it was colorless, like all statues. But something about this one felt... Off to Mario. Suddenly, The Statue gained colors, and more of it was visible. It was like him, but it looked older, more human-looking. Suddenly, the statue sprung to life. But it was subtle. The only thing Mario knew was that this thing was NOT friendly. What was weirder is that his clothes were the same as Mario's, minus the swapped colors of the shirt and overalls. The Person spoke up. "What? Do you see me as some kinda joke?"
As Mario tried to get answers, the person was very cryptic. Almost as if he KNEW Mario. Like... He WAS Mario. Suddenly, The Person spoke up again. "They took away my purpose in life... That barrel throwing ape, My Lady Pauline, They Took it all. And left me alone for a Blue Overalled Plumber."
What??? Mario knew Pauline, She never spoke of this person! Was he another friend of hers? Suddenly, Mario knew he had to get out as the girders began to shake and the Person became more angered, grabbing a glitchy hammer. But As Mario was about to start his fight with this strange person. The Dream Ended as Mario awoke, sweating and shaking. Luigi saw his brother in a troubled state and comforted him. As Luigi asked Mario what was wrong he looked at Luigi, conflicted.
"I need to see Pauline."

true. in my first listens of that song i didnt even know Mario was singing on it. it makes sense that there'd be multiple chromatics for Mario in Mario Mix, but that song specifically could use a different chrom for him.

My story for this song:
Mario and Co. All go to E. Gadd's lab to see his newest invention. A special machine that lookes into alternate versions of yourself from different universes. Ironically it's shaped like an arcade cabinet.
When Luigi looked into it, he saw an AU where he and Mario never went to the mushroom kingdom and lived their lives as regular plumbers. Aka the Mario Bros. Arcade game.
Princess Peach looked into it and saw how she was called Toadstool and red hair and assisting mario in fighting King Koopa. Aka Super Mario Bros. Super Show!
But when Mario tried it. He ended up getting digitized inside the machine and sent to the alternate world. A world full of endless black void and red girders with the occasional Wooden Barrel. Or a purse, a parasol or hat. Until he comes face to face with a guy who looked like him....but wasn't him at the same time. The Jumpman looks at mario with pure hate in his eyes.
They have the rap battle like normal and then says his dialouge like normal:

Mario was confused on why he said that but couldn't ponder that statement for long because Jumpman was attacking him with a hammer now. But by songs end that was mario being pulled back to his world by E Gadd. Peach would ask him what that was all about. But E Gadd reassured him that was just a simple glitch.

I like this idea of Jumpman being depicted as an Oswald Rabbit or Alex Kidd type, having fallen out of fame due to someone else taking their place as the company icon and feeling resentful and spiteful toward their de facto "successor", despite said successor not holding the lions share of the true blame.
I would say something like "justice for Jumpman", but, y'know, DK Circus...

Considering Cranky Kong is canonically the Original arcade Donkey Kong as an elderly ape, and the current DK is technically the son of DK Junior, making him Donkey Kong the 3rd... I'm kind of Surprised Nintendo doesn't like the idea of the Current Mario bring the Son of Jumpman and Lady.
But then again this is Nintendo... So I guess logic and reason is meh. Still my favorite theory though. I also love this song!
