IMPORTANT!!! If it asks for a password when you click on the command prompt option in the Advanced startup menu, watch this video till the end. I've covered that problem at 5:13. If the command prompt doesn't start when you click on the Ease of Access button at the login screen, then you have to wait for about a minute and then restart your PC. If it still doesn't start you have repeat that process again. Sometimes it takes up to 10 restarts until the command prompt starts.

After changing the utilman instead of closing the command prompt window, I instead typed 'wpeutil reboot' which restarted my pc. I did this as I was doing the windows 10 USB boot method showed at the end of the video and thus didn't have a continue option shown at 02:14. After windows restarted I had to restart again to get the access button to show the command prompt (this method is mentioned in the video). Thanks so much. I was able to reset the password and get into the family pc.
it worked like a charm! Work sent me a new laptop but they only had a local admin account setup. They wouldn't give me the password and wanted me to send it back so they could send me a new one. I asked if I could try and get in and I got the green light. This process only took a few minutes, I logged in and then added my Microsoft Account and was good to go. THANK YOU!!! 🥳

There's no OS that doesn't have any flaws. The only way to completely protect your PC is by enabling BitLocker encryption. Go to the Control panel-> Bit Locker Drive Encryption and simply turn it on. The only downside though, if your Windows or computer dies you won't be able to recover your data from the HDD/SSD.

I got to the 'User Accounts' window. But it says "You cannot change the password for ". The button is grayed out. I entered a PIN previously too many times, and requested a reset password on my microsoft account. Maybe that is why. But now stuck.

Booting from USB is not an option from what I've seen around there are problems regarding 64bit versions of EFI/BOOT in the USB's root file... From what other people have said, some havve been able to run it 32bit and I've no idea where to find it... Didn't work for me. I purchased a used corporate laptop at a garage sale where the owner/employee forgot his password. It has Windows 11 and when I got to CREATE A NEW USER, and unchecked the USER MUST CHANGE PASSWORD AT NEXT LOGIN...and it gave me an error THE FOLLOWING ERROR HAS OCCURRED.... THE PASSWORD DOES NOT MEET THE PASSWORD REQUIREMENTS. CHECK THE MINIMUM PASSWORD LENGTH, COMPLEXITY AND HISTORY REQUIREMENTS. I've tried several lengths and complexity passwords but to no avail. Thank you for your reply. I actually did finally succeed in getting a lengthy complex password reset. But now I find the problem is That you're not logged in to the domain. It seems like the laptop will only work when at the company location. It seems like the only way around this is to reinstall windows.
This method does not work for me - no drives are found. It may be that because Secure Boot happens to be turned on, the drives are hidden, I am guessing. Nothing wrong with my c drive, just cannot log on because of a forgotten password.
You have to perform two unexpected shutdowns by any means (press the reset button, press and hold the power button) right when you see the windows logo And your system will automatically boot into the recovery mode.

Really important to recognize that all your data will be deleted from your external drive when you create a bootable drive at 5:09... went through without paying much attention and learned the hard way lol

@@ElectronicsComputers final done but from other method.. I went to recovery mode then fresh reset i think i select then i gave want to delete all file or just window drive install then it took 20 minutes and then pin account password etc gone.
Then try to perform unexpected shutdown a couple of times during the windows boot and then next time it will boot into the troubleshooting mode automatically.

Is Bitlocker active? If so thats the reason, you cant change files in the drive if its encrypted with bitlocker

you saved partially my life, but on windows 11 familly + windows account, we cannot 1/ reste password / add new user :(

I got to the 'User Accounts' window. But it says "You cannot change the password for ". The button is grayed out. I entered a PIN previously too many times, and requested a reset password on my microsoft account. Maybe that is why. But now stuck.
Just create a new User account and transfer your data.
This tutorial works. One issue is that I can't get the command prompt to run after restarting the computer.
Simply rename those two files back to their original names using the same method as you did it in the first place.

When i type C: the system cannot find the drive specified. Ive used every letter in the alphabet with a : after and havent had anything come up. When i type in dir: i get the volume in drive x is boot etc but cant type anything that doesnt auto start with x:windows\system32\:
Most likely your system has Bitlocker activated and there's nothing you can do.

When I try to do the same on Lenovo Ideapad 100s 11lBY, once I click command prompt it restarts laptop then kind of opens and closes command prompt and then asks me to type in the password, presumably in order to access cmd ?
Booting from USB is not an option from what I've seen around there are problems regarding 64bit versions of EFI/BOOT in the USB's root file... From what other people have said, some havve been able to run it 32bit and I've no idea where to find it...
Is there anything else I might attempt (btw i have no access whatsoever in the boot manager in bios, nothing to navigate through and when i click enter on Boot Manager it just restarts the laptop xD

Didn't work for me. I purchased a used corporate laptop at a garage sale where the owner/employee forgot his password. It has Windows 11 and when I got to CREATE A NEW USER, and unchecked the USER MUST CHANGE PASSWORD AT NEXT LOGIN...and it gave me an error THE FOLLOWING ERROR HAS OCCURRED....
THE PASSWORD DOES NOT MEET THE PASSWORD REQUIREMENTS. CHECK THE MINIMUM PASSWORD LENGTH, COMPLEXITY AND HISTORY REQUIREMENTS.
I've tried several lengths and complexity passwords but to no avail. Do you have any ideas?

Thank you for your reply. I actually did finally succeed in getting a lengthy complex password reset. But now I find the problem is That you're not logged in to the domain. It seems like the laptop will only work when at the company location. It seems like the only way around this is to reinstall windows.

This method does not work for me - no drives are found. It may be that because Secure Boot happens to be turned on, the drives are hidden, I am guessing. Nothing wrong with my c drive, just cannot log on because of a forgotten password.

You have to perform two unexpected shutdowns by any means (press the reset button, press and hold the power button) right when you see the windows logo And your system will automatically boot into the recovery mode.

Really important to recognize that all your data will be deleted from your external drive when you create a bootable drive at 5:09... went through without paying much attention and learned the hard way lol
Yeah, I didn't mention that because the media creation tool shows a notification that all your files will be deleted when you select the USB drive option at 5:43.

If you can't use USB drives then there's no way to reset the password in that case. You need to rename those two files by any means available to you.

I went to recovery mode then fresh reset i think i select then i gave want to delete all file or just window drive install then it took 20 minutes and then pin account password etc gone.
