The best thing about this song is that I discovered St. Vincent because of it. She’s one of my favorite artists and I love every single one of her albums.
The Roots are a great band and Annie has a fantastic voice but... why on earth did they stick her up on stage without a guitar!? Are they not aware that her phenomenal, controlled, bizarre, breathtaking skills as a guitarist? She could have added so much to this tune!
Greg Poblete Hey let’s not forget that there was a guitarist on stage. Doing a pretty cool job and let’s empathize with him because he may have been nervous having St. Vincent standing right near him
So many St. Vincent stans here... y'all never heard of her until her 2014 album, or at BEST her Strange Mercy album. This was the song that introduced me to her, she was NOT well known back then (in fact, her debut album remains criminally underrated). Asking why she collaborated with them is like asking why Kanye appeared on Jay-Z and Scarface songs in the early 2000's uncredited. Idiots.
i understand why she did but GOD they could've given her a bigger role, atleast a fucking guitar 😭😭 her skills and talents are being so unused. embarrassing to have such an incredible talent shoved away to the side
People complaining about Annie "being on the side?" It's a collaboration. The problem is that Cudi has a guitar and she doesn't. How in the world was that decision made? Bad form
Everyone saying this song is sad and depressing asf really hurts me bc cudi’s has made me happy every album he drops like I’m sorry you happy and not struggling with thoughts of suicide every day maybe this song just isn’t for you no reason to call it a trash song his music saved my life making me feel I’m not the only one feeling these emotions but thousands of his fans most likely felt the same way I have
Exactly why cudi will go down as a legend. Speedin bullet 2 heaven saved my life. Hate to see it get so much hate. I feel like only people in a really dark place can understand and vibe with that album. That's what makes it special.
***** Sorry but i disagree with your opinion. Its true its originally her song doesn't change the fact that he sampled from her. Don't like it? Cry me a river. I like cudi's music and think it's a perfect song. You like hers and think its perfect alone. You dont HAVE to listen to the collaborated song if you do not wish to. So yes, she wrote the song, we all know that you schmuck.
Because you were pointing the obvious you fool. We all know she wrote the song the only thing i put was i disagreed with your opinion on Kid Cudi. Then Professor Charlie Chopshop decided to give me a lesson on how much music St. Vincent has made.
Why is St.Vincent standing to the side? Well, she is featured on the song. It's not really her show. There are plenty of shows where she is front and center. I don't understand why this is so bewildering to you people.
I like Kid Cudi okay, but it's so embarrassing to see someone using a guitar as an accessory, even more embarrassing when they pretend to play it. Poor St. Vincent just watching on, not even able to sing her part live, no point in even being there. This is just sad, and it's not that it was that bad live, it was sad on other levels
@Cap HH he started learning guitar in 2010 when this was filmed. I’m sure he didn’t start learning guitar after bringing one on stage but you can believe that if you want
Wow, first time seeing this.. Don't listen to them much any more but have been a big fan of Cudi and St. Vincent. This performance is kinda weird. St. Vincent is too talented of an artist to be put in the background like a backup singer here. She doesn't look at all like she wants to be there either. Looking back I'd say at this period Cudi was the rapper that appealed to the Art School/hipster type crowd, sampling St. Vincent and collaborating with artists like Ratatat. If he was a fan of St. Vincent though, you'd think he'd want to show her more respect and have here front and center with him. I'm pretty sure her mic is not even on. It sounds like the sample of her song is playing and she's just lip syncing to it. Weird performance.
The Strangers is one of my favourite St. Vincent songs (although I have so many favourites) and I'm so sad to see it used to such poor effect here with crappy rapping put over the top like ugh Annie is amazing
Cudi inspired generations, takes risk in his discography, saved lives, and put out an incredible collab album this year. Cudi's a musical genius. This may not be a good perfomance but this album is a masterpiece
Whys St Vincent shoved on at the side just to add some vocals?! get her centre stage with that guitar and sideline the two rappers that are trying too hard to be dark and edgy
Yeah I don't know much about him but this clip has really made a bad impression. He's playing up this role of "I'm so dark and damaged it makes me cool". And the other guy is pretty much the same but worse. Also Cudi should recognise the talents of those he's working with and see that there is a far better guitar player in St Vincent right there and put her on.
i mean probably because she barely has any words in cudi's version so it would be weird if shes awkwardly standing in the front practically silent for 90% of the show.. just watch how cringeworthy it was when mgmt were up front performing pursuit of happiness along with kid cudi lol. i love st vincent though
The problems with this entire scenario are ennumerous. Which is sad considering the talent here. And why the hell is St. Vincent way in the back humming. Never mind, all the problems start there.
The best thing about this song is that I discovered St. Vincent because of it. She’s one of my favorite artists and I love every single one of her albums.
She bad ... Jam hard !
Same here! Great similar experience discovering her through prime CuDi. Isn't her debut album album so great? People never talk about it!
The Roots are a great band and Annie has a fantastic voice but... why on earth did they stick her up on stage without a guitar!? Are they not aware that her phenomenal, controlled, bizarre, breathtaking skills as a guitarist? She could have added so much to this tune!
Jesse Savage Because she’s also a divine vocalist and has performed without a guitar solo
everybodys talking about cudis guitar playing. Its Kid Cudi hes definitely in the clouds
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂high AF
I remember watching this as it aired I was so happy. Love being a long time cudi fan :,)
2:00 annie is thinking "oh no, god, forgive him, for he doesn't know what he's doing"
@@Cristobal138 Bro was out of his mind
I wonder if Annie was cringing while Cudi was pretending to play that guitar.
10 years later, and we ALL are still cringing.
Cudi could have gave Annie the guitar instead.
Greg Poblete Hey let’s not forget that there was a guitarist on stage. Doing a pretty cool job and let’s empathize with him because he may have been nervous having St. Vincent standing right near him
He does actually know how to play the guitar lol idk why he did that
@@kod999 it's for aesthetics
Wow how have I never seen this ?

Good trio, st vincent, kudi, and cage
Cage is new to me interesting seeing a rapper who looks like Lou Reed was his model and didn’t use the obligatory rap hand motions
why is st vincent standing way on the side
Social Distancing
0:31 THAT GUY IS USING THE BEBOT APP! LOL I annoy my cat with that.
How do you not put CAGE in the title. He’s indi legend. Peace to ccwm. Rip
Legendary performance.
Moon man classic… the trippy days…. Good times ✌🏽
annie be all like i dont have time for this
This performance was really dope by everyone
People complaining about Annie "being on the side?" It's a collaboration. The problem is that Cudi has a guitar and she doesn't. How in the world was that decision made? Bad form
I wanna fix his hood

yoo CAGE!
she probably did not want to be up there in the center like those two cause she barely had vocals to say it probably would been awkward for her
St.Vincent does not look amused
annie
Cailen Mckenna her name is Annie clark
Michael Jackson jokes lol
Funny to see her in such a background role
@@MurdererLoose shut the fuck up it’s her artist name we know who she is
hell to the yeah sounds so good
What does that guy tapping the iPhone think he is contributing?
a layer
You look real smart. I believe you believe what you are saying. Do you know what I am saying?
As much as Cudi on the guitar... Nothing
***** I'm glad I could do that for ya haha
No mention of CAGE in this?
Performing as "MANIAC"
Good video. I enjoyed this
Doe Bob more comments like this please
Finally a Good decent Quality!
That's a funny video.
this video/song is bout Cudi fighting his inner demons/ego Scott
I love cudi
Is amazing!!! LOVE MOTM 2!!!
why does this video make me uncomfortable?
Cage and Cudi are both geeked out of this world, while St. Vincent isn’t using a guitar in this one for some reason.
cringe, yes.
Cause kudi tried to hard for the whole crowd to like him
Kid Cudi's hood lmaooo 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂it looks like a tail
oh march 11 2010 got it
awsome
Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on November 3 2010
Epic
Haha Amazing!!
That hoodie tho...
So you arnt gonna include Cage in the title?
what is going on???
that is such a good performance
I really didn't mess with this one but you know it's okay. u feel me?
Cudi was so faded
St Vincent A.C. should be on the center, she's the real artist.
They all are in my opinion
+CallMeRoyal stfu
Katrina Libramonte why
this is the coolest shit i ever saw my god
niceee ;)
Why is St. Vincent in the corner? Why is she JUST a back-up singer? Why can't I hear her sing? UGHHHH
Because she's bad and this isnt her song.
Idiot, she let him sample her song. The only part from her song is the part she is singing.
***** Hahaha fool...
***** Sorry but i disagree with your opinion. Its true its originally her song doesn't change the fact that he sampled from her. Don't like it? Cry me a river. That’s quest love you bloody idiot
Cage brought me here
Cage seems uncomfortable and kinda lame here, TV's not for him. He's a great rapper tho.
Why is St.Vincent standing to the side? Well, she is featured on the song. It's not really her show. There are plenty of shows where she is front and center. I don't understand why this is so bewildering to you people.

David Reisinger he knows how to play guitar dumbass
@Cap HH he started learning guitar in 2010 when this was filmed. I’m sure he didn’t start learning guitar after bringing one on stage but you can believe that if you want
@Cap HH okay that’s an opinion the point still stands that he knows how to use it so
When was this? This wasnt in 2013 was it?
If cudi wants to play air guitar he can do that
Ouch.
who cares, cage and cudi are amaziiiiing!
What's a Cudi?
The disrespect for cudi in this comment section disgusts me

I wonder if she regrets the collaboration as much as I regret watching it.
Hard to regret playing with the Roots I'd think, despite the adolescent-white-dude-rap situation.
+nuri k "adolescent white dude"? That's fucking CAGE man. He's a legend. One of Eminem's fucking inspirations.
+Vin Ellis It's you again. I LOVE Cage too, but he's not one of Em's inspirations. They're both great original artists.
+Cailen Mckenna he plays the guitar dude lmao
regit although cage claims i doubt Eminem is from Detroit cage is from newYork
when he was xanned out
The best 🤘🏽
Sucks big Di-k! Annie's way better than this crap . Why hold a strat if ya can't play it! Give it to Annie, she can!
Cudi can play... Not anywhere near as good as Annie but he can play.
who gonna tell cudi that hoodie ain't cool? lol
I love cudi buuuuut nigga , idk what he thinks he's groin on that strat. he needs to just lay it on the ground and back away slowly
Lmao 😂😂 I love cudi he's my idol but like this performance😂😂😂 horrible

Cudi is ridiculously tweaked here
annie is looking so out of place here
ugh

Listen to the actual song by kid cudi
king harlem I'm not really into Kid Cudi
Understandable
Agree completely.
Imagine thinking cage is a bad rapper
This show should be just with annie...
This is Cudis song you fucking hater
alot of fuckers complaining about St. Vincent being on the side deal with it kid cudi sampled her song
not very good. I liked the song on the album though. Annie was the most talented person in the room by far
Disagree. I believe Cudi is highly talented as well as being highly intellectual.
Max Holland Accurate tbh lmao
Niles Pfeiffer Disagree. its by far Cudi but St vincent definitely made this the great song it is
Cudi inspired generations, takes risk in his discography, saved lives, and put out an incredible collab album this year. Cudi's a musical genius. This may not be a good perfomance but this album is a masterpiece
There are much better songs on this album he could've done but still a good performance
he played such a cheapened version of her song...
Do you not understand how sampling works? It's a completely different song that samples 5 words from the vocal track.
psiloveyoum0re She's lucky to have been sampled and brought on stage by such a main stream artist.
***** Maybe it gave her a boost back then, but she's more than proven her own star power since.
DjJazzy B well this song sounds very insincere
you are ignorant :)
Nick Malinowski he's extremely ignorant:)
it's fucking ridiculous that's st Vincent is just shoved to the side. her song is way better than his tbh
I mean I like kid cudi but still :/
+delirious cas she seems fine with it. it is his song
i mean probably because she barely has any words in cudi's version so it would be weird if shes awkwardly standing in the front practically silent for 90% of the show.. just watch how cringeworthy it was when mgmt were up front performing pursuit of happiness along with kid cudi lol. i love st vincent though
She's not the main artist. She's just a sample in the song. You expect her to be smack in the middle just for her little part? Foh
The problems with this entire scenario are ennumerous. Which is sad considering the talent here. And why the hell is St. Vincent way in the back humming. Never mind, all the problems start there.
Why is Annie there? To make up for crap music?
