45
count the steps around the park
consider drinking in the yard
hang the words of a perfect stranger
in the hallways of my heart
‘cause all the blessings are somebody else’s
they’re flowers in the neighbor’s pot
i’m torn exactly into two pieces
one who wants you and one who’s gone dark
but i’m still in sight
your fast machine
always holding your love supreme
our 45’s
spinning out of time
but honey i’m still on your side
are my hopes finally gonna waste me
am i the worst compass i could know
i took the bus across the bridge
sold my bedroom from my home
maybe it’s the east coast in the music
or the endless road from the past
but while you’re praying at the 90s
they’re carving up anything that lasts
but i’m still in sight
your fast machine
always holding your love supreme
our 45’s
spinning out of time
but honey i’m still on your side
no you’re just the stranger that i know best
now you’re just the stranger that i love best
there ain’t no book that i can live by
just these naggings i can’t shake
a hum coming from the basement
a little crying out for crying outs sake
‘cause if i can learn to love your shadow
when your shadow hits the light
and there ain’t no trace of what we’ve been though
then i’ll shout it till the day that i die
hey i’m still in sight
your fast machine
always holding your love supreme
our 45’s
spinning out of time
but honey i’m still on your side

jack is my best kept secret. the kind of under appreciated artist you wish more people would notice, but also not because it might ruin the intimacy of the lyrics when you listen to his music. because it feels like they are written especially for you, and you are the only person he is singing to. i still ask EVERYONE i meet to listen to bleachers and their instant love for his sound is undeniable. so much love for this dude.
The glee i get when i suggest bleachers and they say “oh I listen to them all the time!”
I get so happy people know bleachers!
@@ItsJustJakieG I feel you!!! there are very few people I’ve met who actually know his music 😭
X2
i would not describe jack as underappreciated. he's one of the most dominant songwriters and producers in music
@@p.a.3492 agreed! I just mean his music under bleachers is under appreciated- I've never met a person irl who knows about him or his music!
HANG THE WORDS OF A PERFECT STRANGER IN THE HALLWAYS OF MY HEART
Absolutely yes.
Masterpiece
i wanna be confessed to in a balcony, christmas lights on, with this song playing in the background
so specific lol
this. 🎄
So specific but understandable
This is one of the best songs Jack has ever written. And Jack has written folklore, NFR, and melodrama.
co-written*
@@k-jaypunzalan9210 exactly.
@@k-jaypunzalan9210 oops yeah thats what I meant 🧍🏼♀️
I heard this song (studio version) for the first time this week, while sitting in a doctor's office, and I immediately was mesmerized. I Googled the lyrics to find out who performed it. I had never heard of Jack Antonoff before (don't judge me, I'm 53 years old, lol). It's such a powerful, bittersweet song. This live performance was an especially good arrangement. I'm a newfound fan.
51 and just found him today. 😊
I’m a new fan and I’m 63!
2024. just discovered them. A real gem. Last name Antonoff reveals roots from Russia.
45 is like a hug to my heart.
45 has such a Steel Train sound to it. I love it so much
Y E A H I SAID THE SAME THING TO MY FRIEND WHEN IT CAME OUT AAAAHH IT'S SO GOOD
Wow, here in the UK, I have tonight via my love of Bruce Springsteen found this wonderful band. Blown my mind. I'm going to bed very happy to have new music to listen to.
Bruce has aged beautifully, hasn't he. What a guy!
Imagine being in a neighborhood hearing all this. I'm so down.
How come a song that I'm hearing for the first time bring me back to a memory from a long time ago?
Because as one person said on another post "Jack Antonoff eats nostalgia for breakfast."
I feel so lucky to have seen them twice.
You are! Sadly he has not toured in europe with bleachers yet :(
I found Bleachers in 2018, and I cannot wait for the day that I can finally see you live
They are god damned amazing liveeee
Emily go buy your tickets if you can!!!
@@alejandrar.9174 hahaha thank you for this!! i still cant make it out just yet but you bet that i danced and pretended i was there for that fallon show!! hope you got tickets if you had your eye on them!! :D
shadow of the city... whenever it happens is going to be amazing
45 and 91 are Bleachers' crowning jewels. Such emotional, melodramatic songs yet they never sound boring!
This sounds like how a summer night feels.
Holy fuck the mix for this is amazing. Way better than the studio version. Good to see Jacks live vocals are also miles better than they used to be
Okay I hope I’m not the only one who thinks that this song is INFINITELY better acoustic like this
the studio version is acoustic as well though!
All of bleacher songs are best acoustic
Oh yeah , fantastic 😊
The production in the mixing in all on this electric ladyland gig is just phenomenal
This song hits so hard for me like you wanna cry but scream the song and dance in a big open field to it
ily jack come to the philippines :-(
YAWA WALA AKO SA LIVE SA 45
i mean premiere huhuhu naaliw ako sa chinatown masyado
AGREE
True. Pwede silang makitulog samin. 😂
FOR REAAAAAAAAAAAAL
Jack's 'This Is Me Trying' version
brought me here !!
Love the song and the style!!
Oh good they're using the saxophones! That lady just stood there in the other video and I was confused xD
The solo drum rhythm at the beginning is the same from the opening of We are Young by fun. Love that nod!
It’s my 45th birthday today and listening to 45. Great watching them perform it . 😍
Of course I tune into hearing the tail end of 45, there goes all my emotional stability for the day 😂🤠❤️
This is so important, I don't know how yet, but goddamn, Jack, this is great.
this song gives me happy chills while chinatown gives me fuzzy nostalgia feelings i love bleachers so much and i wish they had more songs but i know it's the time taken to perfect each song and each album is what makes it more special and intimate
Lucky are the neighbors.❤️
ohhhh, what a nice song
Get these electric roof versions on spotify please!
I don't know what it is about this song, but it makes me nostalgic and at the same time makes me want to do meaningful things with the people I love.
