I would recommend self etching primer before painting.
definitely would have not only helped with longevity, but also in hiding the imperfections in the metal underneath.

Looks good man! You weren't wrong with both the blue and red haha. I originally painted them blue to try out the color and ended up getting them powder coated red with the new turbo install. I'd say the blue color choice you went with was better than mine anyways.

80HD Projects hey bro! Any suggestions or tips for installing a 5” turbo back today!
Carter Lawson a friend to help installing the down pipe to the turbo would be nice! Getting that down pipe on the turbo is the hardest part but if someone is under the truck holding it up while you line it up and put the clamp on will help a ton. Also to get the clamp off to take the old down pipe off, put a pry bar or something on the edge of the V-band clamps and hit the back of the bar with a hammer. If you watch my straight pipe install video you’ll get a better idea of what I mean.

You should look into Eastwood’s diy dual voltage powder coat gun,and a used old oven,you could powder coat all the parts and have a lasting durable paint job,that’s what I plan on doing for my 7.3, I just need to build big oven

Assuming your monitor is plugged into your OBD2, you'll never see more then 25psi since that is the max the MAP sensor can read. A physical gauge tapped into your AITH delete plug will give you an actual readout. With a hydra, intake, exhaust and billet wheel you should be at about 35psi.... To make sure you're not losing boost you should put your hydra on stock and you should be seeing 16psi minimum, 18-21 full throttle..... Your boots look original and is most likely where most of that soot you cleaned off came from. Over time they get pin holes not visible to the naked eye. You should change them out for a boot kit from BD diesel, riff raff, vp racing, sinister, etc. Inexpensive insurance if they aren't leaking or will most likely recover any lost boost if they are.

I just bought my first diesel , 1999 F350 and your videos have been extremely helpful! I see we have the same knn air filter . Are you still using the same model knn or have you changed ? I’ve been looking at S&B CAI because I’m worried about dust with this knn being open. Much appreciated!
I just have the K&N intake pipe but I switched the filter out to a dry filter from another brand a long time ago. I was told the oiled K&N filters aren’t very good

Thanks man! I’m glad you enjoyed it. One thing I would recommend is putting down some grey primer first. I didn’t really have any knowledge on painting at the time of this video but I definitely think it would have been better if I used primer first 👍🏻

I think it’s better moving from a smaller place to a larger place. In reverse can really suck because it doesn’t all fit!! Unpacking for weeks and can’t find what you need when it’s Needed.

80HD Projects I was just thinking of doing same with my truck and was researching VHT rated high temp spray. VHT offers varied temp ratings, exhaust 1300-2k, 650 and 250, I think. Smoked my tail lights with their night shades and like it. The exhaust spray seems cool because it says it has ceramic in it but I need to research it some more.

Have you thought about painting your engine cover? Saw some cool ideas on ChrisFix channel. Large cover that hides so much of the grim below. Good spot for a “No Half Ass” decal maybe. That way your viewers see it every time you lift the hood.

Adrian Perla it’s an AFe filter and it just slipped right into the old K&N intake in place of the K&N filter🤘🏻 the Napa one probably would work too. As long as it’s a 4 inch inlet

Nah I don’t care about sinister I just wanted the pipes to match my alternator. The alternator came blue so it wouldn’t make sense going with any other color. Lol

Juliano Martino it’s all about the wheel offset bro. I never new about wheel offset before and my 37s rubbed a lot cuz my wheel had a offset of zero. Now I have -44 offset and the 40s baaarely touch the leaf springs at full lock. Barely. I know someone with -75 offset wheels and their 40s don’t even rub with flex. Negative offset pushes the tires out, away from the leaf springs.

Still good! I’ve scuffed them moving them around installing the new riffraff intercooler boots, but other than that all good! No peeling or cracking.

Get a big bucket.. buy a 5 gallon purple degreaser..$22 WalMart...fill bucket...pit parts in and leave over night...next morning they will be clean...I used oven cleaner to finish outside cleaning... spray down.. And you are done
