I agree, it totally can be! Although I think we also need to look carefully to see whether the phone itself it the idol or something else - like people's attention on social media, or a certain person/celebrity that you follow, or phone games etc.🐧

God is against serving objects, symbols, or images, in the likeness of anything in heaven above, or in the likeness of anything in the earth below (Exodus 20:3-5), and (Deuteronomy 4:15-19). When the king of Babylon the great played the anthem at the sound of music the Babylonians fell down to the ground and worshipped the image of the gold statue of the earth. When the US plays the anthem at the sound of music the US stand on their feet and worshipped the image of the star spangled of heaven with a song. The idols of the nations of wood and stone were replaced with idols of fabric.
Serving our country can definitely become an idol if we place it above God! You can be proud of your country, love your country, serve your county - but it shouldn't become more important than God🙌🐧
