I thought I could fix one of these hinges but after seeing this video and how hard it is to open - naaaa - I will have to buy new ones - its simpler.
It really is a bad system!
The worst I ever seen !
First it is not reliable at all (on my car baught new) the passenger front door is noisy from the beginning, but still works.
Second you have to remove the door to change it
Third it cannot be fixed!

Well, as I have said in one comment lower, firstly door has to be removed by undoing its bolts from the hindge, then the hidge itself can be removed. Nothing difficult, except the weight of the door... I do not recommend used ones, unless you can get them from low mileage car and from rear doors, as they are used much less and will have more chances to be ok for long time.

two of my 2009 C5 doors have this problem. The reason the other two don't is because the previous owner took the damper / limiters from the rears doors and put them in the front 😞
Having watched this (thank you), I'm not going to bother opening them up! I can get a pair of new ones for just under £100
I thought I couldn't believe my eyes when he cut open the door hanger with the Ex ribbon.😢But very interesting insightful video, thanks for the great work with the film too.❤
Can you drill it and add some grease? Will it fix the problem?

Thank you for your video! I have a problem that my door makes noise and dont snap into place and close. I think the pin is nlt broken is there a way to repair this or do i have to change it

Hi mate! How did you exchange the door hinge? Do you need to remove the whole door and is it possible to exchange with only the door opened?
Hi. Unfotunatelly, door has to be removed completely. Firstly undo bolts from the door, remove it, change the hindge, put the door back on. Be carefull not to damage the paint, second person is a must I would say, because door is quite heavy part.
