    This was a NEW take on Angelica -- I heard true regret and hurt in her voice. I loved her urgency as well. WHICH MEANS, that we all react to "regrets" quite differently. This version was an eye-opener for me.

    There's so many little things I notice about Karen's take on Angelica but one of them is the sort of high society, uppity vibe she gives her. It's noticeable when she gasps as Hamilton tries to kiss her hand followed by the way she sings "My name is Angelica _Schuyler_ " as if reminding him exactly who she is and how dare he do that. Plus, I love Karen in anything she does.

    The one thing I really liked what Karen did during the rewind sequence was that as opposed to Renee, who tried to keep herself centered and facing forward the entire time while the entire stage was spinning around her, Karen let herself turn as she was thinking to herself but then covered how she re-centered by acting as if she was watching her memories leave.

      If you actually read Ron Chernow's biography, you will go home with a far deeper, more realistic portrait of Angelica. The Real Angelica was married before she and Eliza ever met Ham, but her husband and even her most illustrious correspondents (The Real Angelica became VERY good friends with Jefferson, which makes the "When I meet Thomas Jefferson" line in the Schuyler Sisters WAY funnier, and a bunch of their actual real letters survive) could hold a candle to Ham in her eyes. Also: After Ham died, she wrote to Eliza, lamenting the fact that she didn't have slaves to help cater to her seven remaining children. (Philip having already died in the duel, ALSO, there are records indicating that the Hams DIRECTLY assisted in the purchase of slaves for one Mr. John Church-Angelica's husband.)

    Its so crazy to me how the exact same song with the exact same lyrics and even sung almost the same way can still portray such different tones. Like with Renée's, Angelica seemed like a mature almost witty older sister who couldn't help how she felt, but made a huge sacrifice for the happiness of her little sister because she loved her so much. But then this version has Angelica seems younger and more emotionally open who really gets caught up in how she feels and falls in love with Hamilton and then sacrifices what she feels at great cost for Eliza. At the end it seems like this Angelica is more openly heartbroken and hurt vs Renee's was more internalized and hurt on the inside, trying not to show it.

      I think she’s really good overall, but I just don’t think the heaviness of the emotion she put into this song really matches the lyrics that well. This is a very cleverly written song, and it’s witty, even though she’s emotional about it there a lot of humor in it - which makes sense because Angelica even says she’s the wittiest sister. I love this song because I feel like it really let’s Angelica’s personality shine, she is smart and witty and yes she has feeling for Alexander but she stuffs it down because she cares so deeply for her sister. I think all of that personality really comes out in the way Renée plays it, but Karen just plays it totally emotional and regretful with zero humor / wit. We don’t see anything deeper about Angelica’s personality here, just that she’s regretful. Regret isn’t a personality.

King George actually did hold eye contact with me for a solid thirty seconds and then winked and I think that's the second time that I died. When Karen walked on stage at the beginning was the first time I was literally pinching my hand because I didn't believe it was real and had nail prints on my palm for a few days after. When we got back to our hotel that night, I tweeted at Karen that she was amazing and seeing her made me realize how beautiful the world is and how much I would love to be up there doing what she did and she liked my tweet and told me that she was glad I enjoyed the show and to keep on living my best life and that was the best night of my life.

      Even though Karen’s Angelica is a unique one for sure, I think Renee’s is more accurate since her character is supposed to be the only girl who can relate and keep up with the guys, hence why she’s the only girl that raps. But another cool characteristic that Karen shows is that she makes Angelica seem cool under pressure, but once we get to the rewind sequence, we’re basically traveling back through her memories in her mind so it’s showing how she really feels about the situation.

    I heard the soundtrack before I saw the musical and I always though this song was more regretful and painful than when you see how renee elise goldsberry does it. Then I got to see Karen in Chicago do it and I was really crying at the end because wow you felt the pain/hurt from her version so much more.

    I did wonder if I could ever like another version of this song, but I love how she performed this! So much emotion, a totally different take, but just as powerful.

    Karen Olivo is a very talented actress and singer! I loved her as Vanessa from In The Heights!
    The way she portrays Angelica is stunning in my opinion. The last parts were amazing. In my view, she's trying to let go of her feelings to Alexander, knowing her sister's his wife, and she's certain that Eliza and Alex will have a happy marriage. Idk how to translate thoughts ;-;
    Reneé is still the most iconic of all the actress who played Angelica, but that doesn't mean the others aren't as good when portraying Angelica 🥲

    I find this take interesting. I have always loved the refined way Renee performs satisfied, because it indicated to me that despite her having this inner existential crisis because of her station in life, and her fierce determination to ensure her sister's happiness, she would keep it together, even in her thoughts so as to not reveal her true intention by accident through body language. Olivo's interpretation seems to feel like oh no my mind is my space I can do what I want and I am SCREAMING internally right now. I think they both have merit but I do personally prefer Renee's version.

    I always wait till the end before saying anything about the angelica in hamilton. The ending is the hardest part, and she slayed. It really shows how jealous angelica is of eliza, wishing that she was the one marrying hamilton.
