My meaning was not so much that Pineda was the direct successor as Journey's lead vocalist, but that he was Perry's replacement at the time of this performance. Steve Perry made such a powerful impression on those of us who were enjoying Journey back in the band's early years that it really doesn't matter who or how many vocalists Journey goes through, they will all be replacements for Steve.
