You should learn how to take care of your singers. Look at Augeri, in just almost 3 years his voice was done from your hectic schedule. He never recovered from your tour in 2001-2003. Neal is unfair ; he can always change his strings and tune his guitar, but when a singer destroyed his voice... vocalist are done!
Sorry. Steve still sounds amazing despite the circumstances surrounding that concert. It was a memorial concert for Bill Graham; a leader in the music industry, and everyone was sad, including Steve. He said in his interview with Jonesy, it was one of the worst days of his life. That's probably what you were hearing in Steve's voice.
One name will haunt Neal to the end of his days; Kevin Chalfant. Kevin could sing Journey's songs effortlessly. Such a shame, such a pity because Kevin's two major projects, The Storm and Two Fires are phenomenal bands. Kevin was actually signed on to Journey before Steve came out of obscurity and made Trial by Fire, which ended Kevin's short lived time with Journey.
I agree, Arnel is getting beat down by this crazy schedule. John talks about this song representing the sacrifices made being on the road. The band is paying a huge one by wearing their singer out. Arnel still does have a beautiful voice but I’m hurting for him here. The sad thing is that they are trapped in this tour, with very little relief.
