  • It is important to celebrate life’s success and implement a glass half full kind of approach.
    That is why I thought you might find todays video interesting. It will focus on medical signs which show your body and mind are actually healthy.

    Vital signs:
    Consisting out of body temperature, blood pressure, heart rate and breathing rate.
    - Your body temperature varies from 36,1 to 37,5 degrees.
    - Blood pressure: Normal systolic pressure should be less than 120 mmHg and your diastolic should be less than 80 mmHg.
    - Resting heart rate should range from 60-100 beats per minute.
    - Respiration rate should be about 12-20 breaths per minute.
    Medical examination:
    - Blood test: These can be aimed at different components of every cell in your blood; red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobulin, metabolic components in the blood, your cholesterol, thyroid function, blood clotting, the functioning of your heart, hormone balances, inflammation and the presents of certain infections like a STI.
    - Other medical tests: pulmonary function tests, ECG, Cardiac stress test, ultrasound examinations, X-rays, CT-scans, MRI-scans, endoscopy, physical examination by a medical specialist, biopsies and genetic testing.
    Life style:
    - Do you follow a healthy, balanced diet, consisting out of low levels of saturated fat, salt and sugar. With plenty of fibers, fruit, whole grains and vegetables. Do you pee and defecate regularly?
    - Do you maintain a healthy weight? Do you avoid a sedentary lifestyle, where you alternate between standing, walking and sitting during your days. Do you maintain a proper posture and do you exercise at least 150 minutes each week.
    - Do you rest enough, to allow your body to recover? Do you have a structured sleeping schedule, do you practise proper bedtime hygiene, where you wind down in the evening and do you sleep about 7-9 hours each night?
    Mental health:
    Good mental health is more than just the absence of mental illness. It means you feel good and function well in the world. You can cope with the normal stresses of life, work productively, realise your potential and contribute to the community.
    - So do you feel confident, optimistic, can you deal with your own emotions and emotions of others, do you set goals, do you feel good about yourself, do you have self esteem, can you relax and do you keep in contact with friends and family? Then these are all signs of a good mental health. The foundation of your daily functioning.
    My own thoughts:
    If you feel happy without frequent extreme emotions, if you feel pleasant in your body without severe physical complaints and if you are able to complete the daily tasks in your personal and work-life, then these, in my humble opinion, are an huge sign that you are functioning quite well.
