Why are college degrees so useless today?

as an academic advisor and Coach myself. I feel for young people coming into the workplace after being promised the world with their college degrees. just to find out that they value experience over education. The twist is that how are you supposed to get experience if no one will hire you? a lot of entry-level job requires five years of experience and that's ridiculous for just an entry-level job. this is happening and employers are complaining that no one wants to work anymore.

College is a waste of time and money. I guess I was one of the lucky ones who was able to get a comfortable office job that pays slightly above the minimum wage. I had a classmate who was academically successful all through his life from elementary school all the way til college and was always an honor student. His first job out of college was literally a cashier at the worst McDonald’s location in the city and was stuck in that job for 4 years, got out and now works at Fun Factory. It’s sad because many teachers liked him and assumed he was likely to succeed being top of his class! If I knew the outcome of my employment I wouldn’t have gone to college, I would have just started working and I would have probably gotten the same job I have now with the experience except I would be richer since I started working full time earlier without wasting money on overinflated tuition!

A lot of mistakes go into modern academics and looking for college degrees followed by a job in the field you studied. The first is a student going in at 18 years old. I waited until 27 and college was the best decision I ever made.
