- In this 56th Video from Classic Car ChitChat you will get to see one of the coolest cars made by Chrysler. The 2005 Chrysler Crossfire is almost the twin of a Mercedes SLK. The Crossfire SRT-6 is truly a fun car to drive with its raw power and even its ability to Drift. Whether you are a fan of the Chrysler 300, the Chrysler Pacifica, you will likely be impressed by this awesome little car’s unique look and styling and its power that as Frank says feels like driving a go-kart. The Crossfire was created as a marriage between Chrysler and Mercedes. The car is just beautiful with its elegant lines it really is a fun car in every sense!
In case you are keeping Track this is Video # 56 of Classic Car ChitChat Videos!
I hope my Classic Car ChitChat video’s make you smile. I do them in my spare time because I truly love cars and my intentions are simply to honour the beautiful cars I get to see and to really understand the passion and love of the vehicle by the driver (or caretaker as Jay Leno would say) of the car. I also understand too that my videos perhaps lack the polish calibre of great RUclipsrs like: Doug DeMuro, Scotty Kilmer, and of course my favourite Supercar Blondie. I also know that I can’t even come close the quality & finish you get from the likes of Jeremy Clarkson and the boys at Top Gear. I think they use a little fancier equipment than my little iPhone… LOL
Mission Statement:
My Objective through creating these videos is to shine the spotlight on people who love their vehicles whether it be a car, motorcycle, or even a bicycle…. Bottom line is if it has wheels and you love it then let’s show that passion to the world!
Equipment Used:
Camera - Just an iPhone SE (Nothing fancy - which proves anyone can use whatever you have handy to make a video… you don’t need really expensive equipment)
Gimbal - DJI OM4 - For that ultra-smooth cinematic look. (To be honest... still not quite sure how to use it but one day I will figure it out!)
Audio - Rode Wireless GO II (I gotta be honest… this is really the biggest investment that was made… I wish there was a cheaper option but after the first couple of videos I soon realized that audio quality is important and hopefully better than the onboard mic on the iPhone!

Thank You

This actually came out before the Sebring, so truthfully the Sebring took styling cues from this model. I appreciate the positivity, it's uplifting.
Colin, First of all thank you so very much for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. My intention for the videos is to allow "ordinary" people who love cars an opportunity to speak about their car and why that car means so much to them. Thanks for sharing too. The crossfire still turns so many heads and so much fun to drive.
I have a 2006 black! Looks just like this one. I tinted the windows it looks so sweet
600, First of all thank you so very much for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. My intention for the videos is to allow ´ordinary people’ like you and I who love cars an opportunity to speak about their love of their car and why that car means so much to them. After all we are all the ´caretakers’ of our cars (as Jay Leno rightly says). The car is truly amazing.. I agree the black tinted windows would give it an even sleeker look to it. Very unappreciated car.. but with people like you it’s definitely a keeper for the future.
I am sold on this car. Much better than I expected and seems like a lot of fun.
It is awesome
I have the 2004 Crossfire that I fixed everything ( RCM,cam shaft sensor, brake sensor( ABS) even replaced and synced the tire pressure sensors. All dash lights are off. Now I have to find the the original title owner to register the car again. I was given a title to a different 2004 Crossfire. I miss driving my Crossfire and so glad I haven’t got rid of it yet.
Breakdown bill.. this just shows your true admiration for this great (underrated) car. I also wanted to take a moment to personally thank for watching my videos, leaving a comment and for subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it.
My intention when creating these videos is to showcase not only the beautiful car but give the owner an opportunity to share their story, love and passion for their car. Thanks again Kevin.
I hated the front end of mine until I seen an actual SLK. Chrysler somehow made it better even if it looks like someone huge stepped on and flattened out a PT Cruiser! It is so much fun to drive that looks go out the window once you start up the engine.
Upside down, I agree with you. After experiencing how much fun this car is, I am on a lookout for one myself too. I also wanted to take a moment to personally thank for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. As you may have seen in my videos that my intention is to showcase not only the beautiful car and really give the owner of the car (the caretaker as Jay Leno rightly says) the opportunity to share their story, love and passion for their car. Thanks again Kevin.
This Frank really knows his cars. The Crossfire is certainly one of the sexiest looking cars out there and so much fun to drive. Great video as always.
Hi Susan.. completely agree with you.
I bought an '04 in July. I love this car.
Jeff, First of all thank you so very much for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. My intention for the videos is to showcase the car and also allow the owner of the car (the caretaker as Jay Leno rightly says) the opportunity to share their story, love and passion for their car. Before I made this video Frank always raved about how much he loved his Crossfire (he has a few cars to pick from) now I understand why. It is really awesome and so much fun to drive around in. It’s again one of those cars that many people overlook as a ‘sleeper’ but it certainly is not that. 😀😀 Enjoy your car!
Only extra would be heated leather seats, supercharger, solid rear wing and you forgot the hidden coin holder inside the ashtray lol
David, First of all thank you so very much for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. My intention for the videos is to allow ´ordinary people’ like you and I who love cars an opportunity to speak about their love of their car and why that car means so much to them. After all we are all the ´caretakers’ of our cars (as Jay Leno rightly says). I will have to go back and search for the coin holder. No matter how you cut it.. this is one fun and enjoyable car in every way.
I love this car. it is one of the most unique cars on the road and underestimated by so many.
Thank you so much Julia.
Love the design of the Crossfire blended with he SLK. Really cool and looks like a lot of fun.
Thank you Dave.
Easiest cruise control ever to use too, tilt steering you forgot along with the fog lights. Ours has a rear cover to hide the open trunk/hatch area. Awesome car, we love ours !
David.. thanks for sharing.
I have owned a 2005 crossfire limited convertible from New. It has been a great car stays in garage when not in use looks factory fresh. Only issue is trying to get it serviced. Chrysler dealers have no idea. Luckily these days if your a bit savvy you can find info on line to do minor repairs and service. Such as crankshaft and camshaft sensors that seem to go at approximately 80,000 miles. But solid engine.
Richard.. first of all thank you so very much for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. Thank you also for your comments. For me it was the first time I got a chance to learn more about the car and I have to say it is truly a great and fun car to have. The car turns heads and with Mercedes build quality certainly well engineered. I would also agree that servicing can be hit or miss. Sometimes finding the right service centre with mechanics trained in servicing the car can be challenging.. but when you discover them you hold on to them.. until they retire 😊
Definitely one underated car. The Crossfire is a really slick looking car and sadly overlooked by o many. Think I need to go and get one for myself. awesome!
Thank you Steve.. I agree
I think this might be a collector's car pretty soon
You are so right there Dirty Martini… it’s a keeper for sure.
Great car. Looks like lots of fun too.
Thank you Dan
I really like this car. Never thought about it too much before but it grows on you. Plus with a Mercedes backbone - what's not to love. Cool video as always always makes me smile!
Hi James, the car is just amazing and so much fun.
The SRT6 version has a hundred extra horses in its AMG supercharged engine & improved suspension. Highly recommended.
Johnny, First of all thank you so very much for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. My intention for the videos is to allow "ordinary" people who love cars an opportunity to speak about their car and why that car means so much to them. Thanks for your feedback and I would agree if you are going to get one you may as well opt for the SRT6.
The base is the first Mercedes SLK R170! This Crossfire in your Video ist the cheap version called Black line
Nico, First of all thank you so very much for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. My intention for the videos is to allow "ordinary" people who love cars an opportunity to speak about their car and why that car means so much to them. After all we are all the "caretakers"of our cars (as Jay Leno rightly says). Thanks for sharing, and it really seems you are an aficionado of this great car.
Really a very cool car. Before this video I really did not know much about it. I am definitely a fan now 😄.
Thank you Frank
beautiful video.. thank you so so much..

After all we are all the "caretakers"of our cars (as Jay Leno rightly says). 🙂
Got one 16yrs now love it, but the merc electrical system is not good rcm and crankshaft sensor go bad
Peter, first of all thank you so very much for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. The crossfire has grown to be one of my favourites. What colour is yours and is it a hard top like Frank’s.
What a fantastic car. Learned a lot from this video. Makes me want to go out and buy one for myself now.
😀
Thank you Troy
Actually 5 years
04, 05, 06, 07, and 08. Although there was limited production in 08.
Thank you first of all for watching my videos I truly appreciate it. Thank you also for the information. I will be sure to pass it on to Frank. I must say prior to this video I had only seen the Crossfire.. but it really is a very cool and fun car to drive.. amazing performance for a car that many people sadly know little about. It’s a go-kart on steroids 😀
Good looking example, but not all original as he stated.
Around the windshield should be silver as well as the 3 fins at the gill's and the doorhandles.
First of all thank you so very much for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. My intention for the videos is to allow "ordinary" people who love cars an opportunity to speak about their car and why that car means so much to them. Thanks for pointing out the nuisances too. These are just lovely cars and so often overlooked which makes them in my opinion more special.
@@ClassicCarChitChat
I agree, they are special vehicles, I love my 04 Crossfire personally.
I simply don't tell people everything is original when I've changed out the grill and have installed a new headliner in black.
this car have any sport mode?
Shiro.. first of all thank you so very much for watching and subscribing to my channel. That is a great question.. From what I understand from Frank. This car has the Auto-Stick function since it uses the Mercedes drivetrain. The SRT version may have more features 😀
Not sure I get the appeal. The SLK’s retractable hard top is the best part of the platform and the Chrysler ditched it. Add in the higher maintenance cost of being a Mercedes underneath, easy pass for me.
Wht02lightning, First of all thank you so very much for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. My intention for the videos is to allow "ordinary" people who love cars an opportunity to speak about their car and why that car means so much to them. I get where you are coming from because the roof mechanism in the SLK is like looking at art in motion. However the crossfire is a fun lit car.
@@ClassicCarChitChat I’m sure it’s great fun, especially in the SRT-6 trim, just in the used world a R171 SLK (crossfire is built on the older R170) is about the same price, and has the folding hardtop. I know they made soft top crossfires which makes me wonder if Benz wouldn’t allow them to use the folding top.
It’s not a Chrysler body. Body by Karmann.
Daniel, First of all thank you so very much for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. My intention for the videos is to allow ´ordinary people’ who love cars an opportunity to speak about their car and why that car means so much to them. After all we are all the ´caretakers’ of our cars (as Jay Leno rightly says). Thanks for clarifying that, we were wondering about that after the video aired. It really is a truly beautiful design and sadly so often overlooked by many. It is certainly a car that still turns heads.
Chrysler "design", constructed by Karmann...
@@GordonBeckles the outside body is Chrysler, but on a 1st gen slk
@@briandoan3837 Yes. It is.
@@GordonBeckles Chrysler designed the outside...however, the entire production was done in Germany by Karman in all key areas of assembly. The Crossfire was the last car to be built at the Karman factory. It closed in 2008.
