TBH this is a great looking car , it's just that Jeremy clarkson didn't like it. So everyone didn't like it, what does Jeremy know about design has he ever looked at himself
I just bought an '04 with a 6 speed manual transmission and 71K miles. I've driven everything you can think of since 1972. This is one of the most fun cars to drive for the money. I got mine for $6500 and it feels like a car that's worth 3x that. It's plenty fast and steers quite well. It has been given a bad reputation by idiot car reviewer's, but owners love them. The styling is unique and they are very reasonable priced.
I just got a 2006 I found on craigslist for $4.5K with 86K miles with a 6 speed. However it's not the SRT6 model but still a fun car to drive. These cars are very low priced now and even they are over 10 years old still looks good today!!
I’ve been thinking about getting a crossfire equipped with the 6spd for sometime now. This video really has helped me fall in love with the idea of owning one even more and answered almost all of my questions on the car. So thank you Focus Tripp
Glad to see people still love the Crossfire. That dead heavy feeling in the steering is becasue it does not use traditional powersteering it has an assisted resurculated ball set up. Some hate it but I love the heavy feel. I own a 2005 SRT6 Crossfire. The stiffer suspension, lower ride, and supercharged engine goes a long way for this car, only sad part is it only came with a automatic transmission. With very light modding (intake, exhust, supercharger pully) I was easily able to get 420HP to the rear wheels. Easily love the car more on the track than my ST but it's very unique. Great review man.
Yes I do. Got lucky and managed to pay off my SRT6 Xfire off very quickly. It stays as a garage queen during the winter here in Colorado, I only have 29k miles on it. It has turned into a sort of collectors car to me given how few SRT6s were made.
That non traditional "recirculating ball steering" (or steering box in the old days) until recently was very traditional. Mercedes used into the 2000s (as we know) when almost all other OEMs had gone with rack & pinion steering decades earlier, most pickup trucks used it until very recently and NASCAR mandates (by rule) that all 3 major series use a steering box rather than a rack & pinion.
Steering is recirculating-ball and not rack-and-pinion....and that's the reason it doesn't feel as sensitive. It has 19" rims at the rear and 18" at the front...if it is stock.
I think the guy doing the video needs to go buy a CrossFire, he likes so much....And I am buying one as well...Non-turbo for me. CROSSFIRES FOR EVERYONE!!!! .......HOORAY!!!!!!!
The spoiler goes up at 65 That muffler is aftermarket with stock tips, the stock muffler isn't that throaty. The front wheels are 18's and the rears are 19's There are less than 75,000 worldwide
Thank you for you input. for US spec, the spoiler was programed from the factory to go up at 65. if it goes up at 60 it must have been changed with a DRB III tool by another owner.
I have that exact same car here in California. Only 40k on it. I was selling it not long ago, but I got low offers and decided to keep it as my toy. I have only good things to say about this car. Before my purchase I heard a lot of negative comments, but now I realize they were justhatin on this car. Good review. I love my car
marcozarate78 I want to get a Crossfire!!! would you ever reconsider selling it? If you do please let me know and let me know how much you want for it...
Carlos Ruperto hey man, we really became attached to the vehicle, although it spends most of the time in my garage, is really a weekend car for my soccer games and personal errands. I could reconsider selling it if a good offer comes up. 😎
I've got a Black 04 Manual with Koni yellows, SRT6/AMG sway bar and Eibach lowering springs with camber arms for a proper alignment, and this makes the stock tendancy to understeer completely tuneable. Really just a SRT sway bar helps a ton on its own to help balance it. I would not recommend a square setup because it really just ruins the look of the car.
think u got your info wrong man. The Crossfire base has always been 215 bhp and 229 ft. pds tq, and 19 inch rims in rear, 18 in front 235s in front and 250 or 255 in the rear for tires.
Can't believe that a car in this price range...doesn't have and up and down adjustable steering wheel? Cars in the 70s had fully adjustable steering wheels.
I saw one at a dealership, 30k on it, and it drove like complete shit. I guess the original owner did zero maintenance. A shame that was my only experience with that car.
Combination of things. I am shorter than you think, the clutch is a long distance away, I do a lot of track driving and that is kinda the proper seating position.
A few pieces of misinformation so far. It's 19 rear and 18 front. Not 20/19. The spoiler goes up way earlier than 70mph. Technically 60, but mine goes up way before 60
FocusTripp I was curious if i could fit in there :D So Yeah if you are 5'9 than I can still consider the crossfire as a new car for me :P (currently I'm 190cm,) Thanks for replying 😀

Opinions are like ass holes. Everyone has one and Jeremy Clark is one. 😀
You know, this car is shaped a lot like vintage Porsches (see 356 coupe model). The hilarious Mr. Clarkson would never say that about a Porsche.
@@kowalagt4380Jeremy doesn’t like porsches

Pregnant
the SRT only comes in automatic! why, why would they do that??!?!?!?

Thanks, glad I could help!
I have a 2005 convertable Cross Fire standard transmission and love it as my summer car! Love the fact it's based on the Mercedes SLK!
Michelle Lundy Any electrical faults or other issues?
Same as me! I love it!❤

and which steering option is better?
I had one for 13 yrs. & loved it, everybody loved it, but mine was a convertible & also red. 🥰😍😘
did you ever drive it in snow?
In reality, the OEM wheel diameters (which this car has) are 19 rear and 18 front.
You gave the wrong HP. The standard v6 was always 215HP. The SRT-6 (supercharged model) is 330HP.
my bad, still a fun car though.
The srt6 is 349 hp. It was downgraded to 330 hp because of mercedes marketing. Look it up 👍
CrossFire is a technical term for a severe ignition problem,,,,,and also a really cool car as well....😆
Beautiful shots! You made me love this car 👍👍👍
still a sick car in 2020.
Have an 04 limited manual. Driven the srt6 several times, while waaaay faster, i sincerely prefer the manual, even with its notchy feeling.

Daymeon Wails as far as I know the exhaust is Stock, but I didn't know that there were so few made.
Daymeon Wails it goes up over 60, and that IS the stock muffler.
I have one, I know.
Thank you for you input. for US spec, the spoiler was programed from the factory to go up at 65. if it goes up at 60 it must have been changed with a DRB III tool by another owner.
always thought it was 62 in the owners manual.
Ben Rh UK ones it goes up at 62 and comes down at 39.

Faizaan T. this on has aftermarket tires.
I too like the shape, as it Reminds me of the Triumph GT 6. I'm a bit surprised though, that the Crossfire wasn't fitted w/ Rack & Pinion steering!
Can't believe that a car in this price range...doesn't have and up and down adjustable steering wheel? Cars in the 70s had fully adjustable steering wheels.
I have a 2005 red crossfire 6 speed
I love it bought it for 2 grand
The car needs work having electric problems
That's a steal.
FocusTripp yes I agree
nice review.. too bad crossfire discontinue on 2008
chimpanshane yeah, I don't believe that it sold very well.
get your thumbs in the correct driving position, great cars have a 2005 limited ragtop.
It does not have 264hp, only 215hp.
Why not say it is designed a Mercedese SL all engine components
MRZ12000 oh, I actually did not know that.
Not SL, but SLK.
where are you getting 250+hp from? The crossfire makes 215 lol
Holy shit you sit close to the steering wheel!!!
Pinks Camera yeah, I'm short. Rub it in.
oki but what song is that playing in the intro
Undoubtedly the most unrevealing creation in automobile history. However it says it all somehow!

i like the car you got a grandma spec tho mines black with black rims and grilll and 5% tint
I'v to think about Insurance on this car here.
not cheap at all

It should, it’s a re-skinned Mercedes SLK.
so it looks just like an 87 Dodge Daytona
somewhat...
@paul austin original concept designed by an american and then refined by a british guy for production

How tall are you? :P Great vid btw
pjpetrolhead not tall... 5'9' but I sit closer mostly out of habit of driving on the track.
