You say that "wet soil" will keep the ants away, BUT "wet soil" is NOT GOOD for Olive trees either. HOW can you keep ants away and NOT kill the Olive tree? Mission Olive is Olea Europa RIGHT? Peat will NOT break down, BUT perhaps the soil mixture WILL drain out of the pot through the drainage holes. I am HOPING to see an UPDATE of how your Olive tree has done in the pot here. I have NO Peruvian bird crap, BUT, I DO have some bat guano in a bag, so, perhaps THAT would be good to add to a potting mix. I have 2 VERY small Olea Europa "plants". They are only about 4 to 5 inches tall now. I am mostly poorish, so, that is fine with me. I am SLOOOWWWLLLLYYY building up my plant collection. Mostly buying VERY small plants. I am in zone 6a Hardiness zone, so, I am having to house my plants in pots in my greenhouse. My Olive trees will NEVER be able to to grow taller than about 5 1/2 feet. POSSIBLY a bit more. Now, I am in the Eastern US, BUT, IF you are making up a "potting soil" recipe, I DO WONDER what does just where you are in the US matter? YOUR native soil is NOT an issue anyway. MAYBE, since the is it SOUTHWEST has salt in the water? Perhaps GYPSUM helps with salty water? Now, MY (SW Pa) public water has chlorine and who knows what in it. I am TRYING to use ONLY rain water and or filtered water for my potted plants. SOME Plants, I THINK Olive trees are 1 of them, do NOT like chlorinated water. I've been filling gallon jugs but, most of the "rain water" is frozen. I HOPE there is a followup video.
Noe Berengena sane here. I bought olive tree olea Europea is the one u want. I used to pay a fortune for olive leaf extract, now I grow my own and i wish I had done it sooner.
Olive trees are grown from cuttings of olive trees not from seeds. Seeds will produce crappy trees. If you are in the USA email me and I will give you a small box of cuttings to root out into olives trees.
@@Growquest I am trying to root from olive cutting from a huge old tree (cuttings from the tips at the top of the tree). Will these thin stems manage to become thick trunks like the original tree?
How many gallons is the pot that you had put that Olive tree into from the smaller pot? I just wondered because soon I will NEED to buy some pots that size for some of my plants. And, I will most likely have to order them because I can't find pots that size that are not brittle and crappy in my area. My local "Big box stores" have some pots that are as big as the pots in this video< BUT, they are brittle crappy plastic VS nursery pots that are a good bit more durable and will NOT just crack easily. Anyway, the BIG black plastic pots in THIS video that the Olives have been repotted into are great durable so < where'd you get them at? MY Olives will NOT need that size of a pot for maybe 2 years, BUT, I do have an OLEANDER that may need a pot that size sooner. Seabird Guano, and some "Grow power plus" which I am not sure what it is mad of, POSSIBLY some compost? I do wonder what "Peruvian seabird guano" has that is different than Bat guano does, BUT, maybe it is special enough to buy some if it is NOT expensive beyond reason to buy it. But, I can't read the NPK plus any special "trace nutrients" in that "Perivian sea bird guano", so, before any of us goes and buys a big bag of anything that we think we need to use to fertilize our plants we should (of course) research if we REALLY need to buy that stuff. For example, I have 2 potted Olive trees and I have been looking all over RUclips to see if I should be adding any certain elements to my potted Olive tree's soil. I had repotted them BOTH last fall. I used a bagged potting soil for "citrus and palms", so, it was well draining soil, BUT, I did wonder IF It may have been in need of a certain element or "whatever". After several videos, it MIGHT like some "Bone meal", or NOT. If anybody knows that Oilves tree's like any certain element like "mag, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and/or some micronutrient", let me know. I know that MAYBE Olive trees like living in lean soil too. ANY tips will be appreciated.
Do you have a web site where you sell olive tree's? Also, sale any that grow in my zone? I think it's 7, Oklahoma, USA. TY. Keep in mind, I'll be a beginner. TY.

Noe Berengena came to the comments looking for this and it was the first one😂 Well done 👊
😆 🤣
great advice with the fertilizer and infections
Thank you for generously sharing your gardening tips.
Careful olive trees hate being over watered, they like dry soil.. they love hot climates. Although in a pot requires more watering then a garden bed.
Make some tincture with your olive leaves, and you will have a great antibiotic.
I dry out the leaves and after grinding them I make them into a tea.
This all started after purchasing olive leaf extract capsules.

Chris, Thank you for sharing! I ordered 20 olive seeds online & am super excited about starting this project. This was very helpful. Be blessed!

HELP overwatered potted potted olive trees. Can they be saved? I’ve raised them from five gallon trees for 5 years and they are huge. 😱
Why is he so harsh with the plant? He drops it like nothing and is so rough. I dislike this man’s behavior
Does that apply to pruning?
You can find the olive trees for sale at the growquest com web site and contact me at sales at growquest com

I love your videos. What size are those big black containers? Are they 20 gallon? thanks
May I ask what you mean by courser planting material?
Why do it when it’s that dry?
How many years old are these olive plants
how long does it take for a olive tree to bear its first fruit from ~1ft seedling?
Did u grow olive by seed? How is it growing now?
@@NMW80 I got a seedling from a nursery
it's started bearing fruits for the 2nd year already
but still too small for consumption
Your website doesn't work. Do you still sell cuttings for this olive tree?

I think you should be more gentle to the plant itself.
I would like to purchase a small olive tree from you that I can plant in a container.
Do some olive trees never fruit?
+Luis Lopez Yes, some are totally fruitless and some remain fruitless because they need pollinators
Do You sell these trees? Can I ask for an email to contact You?
