I love the Lisa Eldridge reds, they are such classics! One you didn't mention that I also reach for a lot is Besame. I have the Snow White Red shade, but their formulation is so longwearing, matte and not drying on my lips!
Oh, red! On my fingers and toes for sure, but rarely on my lips. My favorites are the Revlon classics "Cherries In The Snow" and "Fire And Ice". Affordable, if getting hard to find, and very opposite ends of the red spectrum. Very deep blue pink to the brightest and warmest a red can be before it goes orange. I also have Bobbi Brown Black Ruby lip shimmer, BB sheer lip color Hot Raspberry 2, Clinique Long Last LS in Ginger Flower, and L'oreal Colour Riche in True Red, among others. Gorgeous but high maintenance on me. Mixed feelings about this color.

"Velvet Ribbon" from Lisa Eldridge is my go-to full-on red. I twisted it up too much and broke it (even though it's officially at "worn to a nub" stage), even though I know better because of all that pigment, so now it's my tender little baby that I tap on with a fingertip. I need to grab a new tube!
Funnily enough, Ribbon is also my go-to red. And mine broke as well! Lisa’s team so kindly sent a replacement, but that one also broke with the first few uses… which they replaced again, but it’s strange because I have so many of Lisa’s lipsticks and no other shade has had this happen. Maybe it’s the intensity of the pigment in such a gorgeous shade ❤
Fun fact Pirate was the first lipstick my parents bought for me after I tried it on at an airport duty free. Since then I have a collection of hundreds of reds trying to dupe it (since mine is more than 10 years old now) but I bit the bullet and bought another Chanel Pirate.

I’m loving the new Velvet Duchess from Lisa Eldridge. I usually steer clear of reds but as soon as I saw the swatch, I knew I had to give it a chance. After seeing your swatch, I also want to try the Gucci voile sheer in a red. I have one in Mildred Rosewood and it’s a perfectly plum-burgundy for an everyday drama.

I haven't tried any mentioned in the video but I like Sephora's Cream Lip Stain in Always Red. Also, I am surprised there are no mentions of MAC's Ruby Woo, which I like too or Russian Red, Lady Danger, which are so popular.

I'm 23 and starting wearing red at 20, used to be a fan of bright orange in my teenage years. Now I pop on a red lippie and feel amazing. I'm a Mac lover, therefore we don't share exact matches, but I love Russian red, Ruby woo and Dance with me. They make me feel awesome and powerful! Ohhh and Sephora lip stain in 01.

Where do I begin? I love Revlon Cherries In the Snow, Love That Red, and Love Is On. I also love Lisa Eldridge Velvet Myth and Velvet Duchess. I have a couple of the limited edition reds from MAC’s cherry blossom collection last year. As I’m aging, I like lipstick that gives my face “life”, so I rarely wear nude lipstick 😊
I love a good red lip! I love to experiment with different undertones. Gucci’s Janet Rust (matte) is a beautiful rusty red and Givenchy’s Rouge Grenat (sheer velvet) is a lovely berry toned red. I also adore Glossier’s red lip gloss, which is a sheer pinky red.
Just got the Bobbi Brown Ruby shade yesterday (as well as Italian Rose). The formula is as great as you’ve said! I love a deeper/brownish red lip, I find it suits me best.
Two of my fave red lipsticks are long discontinued: Illamasqua Sangers (a neutral red on me/my very light skin; comfortable matte finish) and Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in True Red (also a neutral red but more of a creamy shiny finish). My other old fave is still around, and that's NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella (they describe it as a "passionate scarlet red"; it's a deepish red, IMO). I've never repurchased it because red isn't a go-to lip colour for me nowadays.
I tend to suit more orangey reds and MAC is my go-to. I fell in love with Chili a few years ago and just bought its Powder Kiss sister, Devoted to Chili, today in a sale. I also love Marrakesh-mere in the same formula for an autumnal orangey-brown red.
Hi Matilda! Thanks for swatching Goldie Red right next to Bobbi Brown Ruby-that was the most impactful comparison for me. It actually made me bump Goldie Red right back up on my wishlist! Muted like Ruby, but more of a burnt red orange in comparison (a shade family I love). I have Ruby and (of course) Pirate! The Dior Forever Liquid is on my list because of you. Like you, I also have a typical aversion to liquid lipsticks, but you won me over with Fenty Lip Paint. If Dior Forever Liquid is similarly non-drying but longer lasting than the Fenty, I absolutely need to try it! Also, Lisa's reds have been on my wish list for ages. Specifically Velvet Ribbon, Velvet Morning, and Velvet Jazz. I just haven't bit the bullet yet. I'm hoping those three shades show up in a set again one day!
I absolutely love red lippie, I have so many a lot of the same, I double on some. Clinique two tonne lip crayon - unfortunately they have some making it, Clinique cheek / lip in red carpet and red hot unfortunately I think they stopped that as well. Red y in Clinique high impact, they also stopped that. Stila all day liquid lip BEAUTIFUL stays put. And my favourite Guerlain 560 ( I think) kiss kiss lippie. I love them all ❤

as a neutral/warm (ie somewhat sallow) very fair redhead, reds are SO hard for me to wear! Blue reds highlight my undereye shadows and look too overwhelming on me. but I love a brown berry red or a soft orange red - Merit's signature lipstick L'Avenue and Cabo are my new faves, because they are super comfy to wear and I can blot them down easily.
For me a matte red lip is the one I would allways choose if I‘d want to go for that classic red lip :) But I wear a tinted lip balm from the sephora brand in „cherry“ on most days 😌

My favorite red is a lip balm. The Tatcha sleeping lip mask with peoni. It's not a permanent balm and it doesn't advertise as having color. It's a sleeping mask afterall. However, it leaves a light hue of red in my very pigmented lips, more than any other tinted lip balm. It's also very hydrating.
I have a huge lipstick obsession and keep buying more and more. I am now becoming more picky to the finish of lipsticks and how they feel on my lips. I really like charlotte tilbury’s matte formulas and definitely want to buy more of them! This video is perfect for me and my obsession of reds.
Hi M, 👋🏼 I’m slowly but surely catching up on your videos! I love a red lip, on everyone else, but always feel a bit self conscious wearing them. Thankfully Lisa Eldridge’s Velvet formula has helped me feel a little more comfortable wearing a red lip because her formula is so darn comfy. I seem to gravitate to Velvet Jazz. I also really enjoy NARS velvet matte lip pencils in many of the shades, but when I want a more muted red, I reach for Do Me Baby. I think they call it a chestnut rose, but if Merlot wine was a lipstick, this might be it. ☺️xoxo

I am a light skinned sunflower blonde with cool undertones, that Bobbi Brown is brighter and closer to the Chanel color on me than what it shows on you. It is a beautiful color.

I'm a big fan of true red (I have Lipstick Queen's "Red" in both the Saint and Sinner formula), but in fall and winter I like a deeper, more blood red (I just finished off one from Rimmel, but it's discontinued, so I'm looking for a new shade). Like you I'm not a big fan of liquid lips: too much work to get them on evenly, and most dry my lips something awful.
Revlon red lipsticks are Missing from this group of reds, Bachelor's Carnation aka Love that Red is Marilyn Monroe's red. Please include wallet friendly options. Revlon does red lipsticks especially well.

Do you ever find that the Gucci lipsticks get little dents in the bullet from the packaging? I’ve had it on my wish list since you raved about it in your 2019 faves, but I saw a review recently saying that the bullets get dented easily :(
Just checked my Gucci lipsticks (I collect the sheers and have a couple of mattes) and luckily don't have any bullet dents! Even very well loved Goldie Red from this video is fine. I always try to be very careful with products though and never twist bullets in a rush, in case that makes a difference on the way out/in 👍💄 x

I'm so into reds that I don't wear the other colours & lost lipsticks (they spoiled cos of no use). Decluttered & now down to 13 but always find myself being pulled to another shade of red ...
I don't know if I have tetrachromacy or am having an episode or what, but most of those don't look red to me AT ALL! The only two I'd call red at all, just looking at them, are the Lisa Eldridge and the Gucci. I don't think you can go any more berry than your nails here and still reasonably call the color red. Confused.
Best to look up any products you're interested in online to see if they match your personal preferences ☺️👍 (I personally don't subscribe to the 'harmful' ingredients messaging that a lot of 'clean' makeup brands use in their marketing) x
I love reds but my mouth is not my best feature. I have an overbite so it’s best not to draw attention to that area. It just makes me feel too self conscious.
My all-time favorite red lip is Burberry's Oxblood that I received as a Sephora perks points when a) the perks were actually decent and b) they still sold Burberry makeup, so suffice to say I really shouldn't put it on my mouth because its over a decade old I am pretty sure, but it is so beautiful, and I cannot find any dupes. Any suggestions???

I don't really wear lip liner with reds Marta! I find they last well enough on their own. There is a matching Dior 999 lip liner if you need, or a red lip pencil I bought to intensify my red lipsticks when I feel like it is Lisa Eldridge Ribbon ❤️ x

And I knew it had a chance of breaking due to the high pigmentation. ( So to all you potential buyers if you didn't know now you know... it breaks) I just wish that knowing that she would have either included a small brush or made it a pot lipstick because it's really disappointing for the price point and the prestige it's a bubble her I you know it's it makes me sad I love it but I don't use it because it's messy and she can fix that it really isn't that hard. if I can think of it, she can do it... Oh I also LOVE CRUELLA and TRAIN BLEU. AND GXVE original formula and MAC BASIC RED PAINT STICK, .. . . and finally, KALEIDOS FIAMMA

I never wear lipstick, and certainly never red (I had redness in my skin and small lips so I’ve always felt like red was never for me) but lately I’ve been wishing for a bright lipstick I could reach for. I’m excited to watch!

I haven't tried any mentioned in the video but I like Sephora's Cream Lip Stain in Always Red. Also, I am surprised there are no mentions of MAC's Ruby Woo, which I like too or Russian Red, Lady Danger, which are so popular.

I'm 23 and starting wearing red at 20, used to be a fan of bright orange in my teenage years. Now I pop on a red lippie and feel amazing. I'm a Mac lover, therefore we don't share exact matches, but I love Russian red, Ruby woo and Dance with me. They make me feel awesome and powerful! Ohhh and Sephora lip stain in 01.

Oh I'm obsessed with red lipsticks too! I literally hoard them. Loved your collection. My current favourite red lipstick is Lancome L'Absolu Rouge Intimatte in the shade 196. I am absolutely in love with it! I wear it almost all the time!
Where do I begin? I love Revlon Cherries In the Snow, Love That Red, and Love Is On. I also love Lisa Eldridge Velvet Myth and Velvet Duchess. I have a couple of the limited edition reds from MAC’s cherry blossom collection last year. As I’m aging, I like lipstick that gives my face “life”, so I rarely wear nude lipstick 😊
I love a good red lip! I love to experiment with different undertones. Gucci’s Janet Rust (matte) is a beautiful rusty red and Givenchy’s Rouge Grenat (sheer velvet) is a lovely berry toned red. I also adore Glossier’s red lip gloss, which is a sheer pinky red.
Just got the Bobbi Brown Ruby shade yesterday (as well as Italian Rose). The formula is as great as you’ve said! I love a deeper/brownish red lip, I find it suits me best.
Two of my fave red lipsticks are long discontinued: Illamasqua Sangers (a neutral red on me/my very light skin; comfortable matte finish) and Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in True Red (also a neutral red but more of a creamy shiny finish). My other old fave is still around, and that's NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella (they describe it as a "passionate scarlet red"; it's a deepish red, IMO). I've never repurchased it because red isn't a go-to lip colour for me nowadays.
I tend to suit more orangey reds and MAC is my go-to. I fell in love with Chili a few years ago and just bought its Powder Kiss sister, Devoted to Chili, today in a sale. I also love Marrakesh-mere in the same formula for an autumnal orangey-brown red.
Hi Matilda! Thanks for swatching Goldie Red right next to Bobbi Brown Ruby-that was the most impactful comparison for me. It actually made me bump Goldie Red right back up on my wishlist! Muted like Ruby, but more of a burnt red orange in comparison (a shade family I love). I have Ruby and (of course) Pirate! The Dior Forever Liquid is on my list because of you. Like you, I also have a typical aversion to liquid lipsticks, but you won me over with Fenty Lip Paint. If Dior Forever Liquid is similarly non-drying but longer lasting than the Fenty, I absolutely need to try it! Also, Lisa's reds have been on my wish list for ages. Specifically Velvet Ribbon, Velvet Morning, and Velvet Jazz. I just haven't bit the bullet yet. I'm hoping those three shades show up in a set again one day!

I absolutely love red lippie, I have so many a lot of the same, I double on some. Clinique two tonne lip crayon - unfortunately they have some making it, Clinique cheek / lip in red carpet and red hot unfortunately I think they stopped that as well. Red y in Clinique high impact, they also stopped that. Stila all day liquid lip BEAUTIFUL stays put. And my favourite Guerlain 560 ( I think) kiss kiss lippie. I love them all ❤
I have Velvet Morning, Red Carpet Red and Ruby. I’m down to the end of my Ruby bullet and will most definitely be repurchasing. It’s such an easy everyday red! And of course, I discovered it through Matilda! Thanks, Matilda 🥰💄🥰
as a neutral/warm (ie somewhat sallow) very fair redhead, reds are SO hard for me to wear! Blue reds highlight my undereye shadows and look too overwhelming on me. but I love a brown berry red or a soft orange red - Merit's signature lipstick L'Avenue and Cabo are my new faves, because they are super comfy to wear and I can blot them down easily.
Nars velvet lip pencils are my go-to lip product is not heavy but is full on pigment 💄🥰

For me a matte red lip is the one I would allways choose if I‘d want to go for that classic red lip :) But I wear a tinted lip balm from the sephora brand in „cherry“ on most days 😌

My favorite red is a lip balm. The Tatcha sleeping lip mask with peoni. It's not a permanent balm and it doesn't advertise as having color. It's a sleeping mask afterall. However, it leaves a light hue of red in my very pigmented lips, more than any other tinted lip balm. It's also very hydrating.

Hi M, 👋🏼 I’m slowly but surely catching up on your videos! I love a red lip, on everyone else, but always feel a bit self conscious wearing them. Thankfully Lisa Eldridge’s Velvet formula has helped me feel a little more comfortable wearing a red lip because her formula is so darn comfy. I seem to gravitate to Velvet Jazz. I also really enjoy NARS velvet matte lip pencils in many of the shades, but when I want a more muted red, I reach for Do Me Baby. I think they call it a chestnut rose, but if Merlot wine was a lipstick, this might be it. ☺️xoxo

I am a light skinned sunflower blonde with cool undertones, that Bobbi Brown is brighter and closer to the Chanel color on me than what it shows on you. It is a beautiful color.

I'm a big fan of true red (I have Lipstick Queen's "Red" in both the Saint and Sinner formula), but in fall and winter I like a deeper, more blood red (I just finished off one from Rimmel, but it's discontinued, so I'm looking for a new shade). Like you I'm not a big fan of liquid lips: too much work to get them on evenly, and most dry my lips something awful.
For a classic and a true vintage reds I recommend Besame cosmetics 😉

Revlon red lipsticks are Missing from this group of reds, Bachelor's Carnation aka Love that Red is Marilyn Monroe's red. Please include wallet friendly options. Revlon does red lipsticks especially well.

Do you ever find that the Gucci lipsticks get little dents in the bullet from the packaging? I’ve had it on my wish list since you raved about it in your 2019 faves, but I saw a review recently saying that the bullets get dented easily :(
Just checked my Gucci lipsticks (I collect the sheers and have a couple of mattes) and luckily don't have any bullet dents! Even very well loved Goldie Red from this video is fine. I always try to be very careful with products though and never twist bullets in a rush, in case that makes a difference on the way out/in 👍💄 x

I don't know if I have tetrachromacy or am having an episode or what, but most of those don't look red to me AT ALL! The only two I'd call red at all, just looking at them, are the Lisa Eldridge and the Gucci. I don't think you can go any more berry than your nails here and still reasonably call the color red. Confused.

My all-time favorite red lip is Burberry's Oxblood that I received as a Sephora perks points when a) the perks were actually decent and b) they still sold Burberry makeup, so suffice to say I really shouldn't put it on my mouth because its over a decade old I am pretty sure, but it is so beautiful, and I cannot find any dupes. Any suggestions???

I'm notorious for not ever just having a red lipstick on... I always add a hint of brown with a blotted lip liner underneath, as I just feel like (at least on me) red is just too much of a one note colour. I'm a much bigger fan of burgundy lol

I don't really wear lip liner with reds Marta! I find they last well enough on their own. There is a matching Dior 999 lip liner if you need, or a red lip pencil I bought to intensify my red lipsticks when I feel like it is Lisa Eldridge Ribbon ❤️ x

I really wanted to love Lisa Eldridge Velvet Ribbon. And I knew it had a chance of breaking due to the high pigmentation. ( So to all you potential buyers if you didn't know now you know... it breaks) I just wish that knowing that she would have either included a small brush or made it a pot lipstick because it's really disappointing for the price point and the prestige it's a bubble her I you know it's it makes me sad I love it but I don't use it because it's messy and she can fix that it really isn't that hard. if I can think of it, she can do it...
