The comments were removed, but they were saying fucked up stuff like "women dont belong in metal, she should be raped." I know it's hard to believe, but there were at least 5-10 of those comments right after the video came out. I meant to reply to one of them, obviously I wouldn't tell someone who is complimenting her to "keep those thoughts in their head," as that's just fucking retarded.
Moonsorrow - yeah I was pissed too at your comment at 1st but, now I get it. Actually the same happened to me months ago, and then I made a joke that the person deleted his comment after my reply. Banger then said they had removed the comment because of its content.
Saw this in recommended list after watching theneedledrop's review of the new Pallbearer album. I love that this review actually uses bits from the album to give context. Great review and production values, Sarah! Sold after that Dire Straits mention with "Dancing In Madness"! Subscribed.
It's always a good day for me when I see Sarah ;) As for the Pallbearer's new Album, "I waited a long time for this and it feels great, just great..." Cheers.
Good review, Sarah. Your presentation is showing much more comfort in front of the camera. Very insightful. The comic-relief wine snob bit was a laugh out loud moment.
Great review. Huge Pallbearer fan. Went and saw them with Baroness during last years US Summer Tour. The dudes were really cool and politely put up with just about everyone at the venue getting in their face after their set.
Thank you for this review, not much of a doom metal fan but, I bought the album and was blown away!! Pallbearer has a new fan!! I'm also going to buy the first 2 album
Picked this up because of the review and have gone back and purchased their earlier work; furthermore, heartless deserves a vinyl purchase. Thanks Sarah.
Great review! My first reaction is that this is an interesting step forward for them stylistically and it's a beautiful listen but maybe not as viscerally emotional and raw as Sorrow and Extinction was for me. I can see this being a more accessible album because they picked up the pace a bit more and the vocals have been improved in both performance and mixing. Some of the songs are leaner and catchier too, so I can see why you would expect them to grow in popularity thanks to this record. First listen 8.5/10 for me, great stuff! I especially love that slowcore into bluesy solo intro on Dancing in Madness.
It was also released in Japan on Daymare Records and it includes the "Fear & Fury" EP on CD as a bonus. I keep feeling like I am shouting this news to Pallbearer fans from the rooftops and NONE of their fans gives a damn enough to hear me.
Definitely dig this album. I here a lot of Melvins influence in some of their riffs. In addition, I hear some Alice In Chains influence. Vocally, I hear some Layne Staley in his annunciation and even some "Dirt" guitar riffs.
This was such a great review, it was really in depth and broke down a lot of the album really well, and your style of review was really rad, hope to see more of these!
Saw these guys opening for Gojira in Anaheim this year. I had no idea who they were, but was blown away. Love the emotion. I tell everyone about them now.
Rolling the window down and sticking your out and gazing at the stars in the clear sky, while you barrel down the road through the ouachita mountains, in Arkansas, is Pallbearer. Keep doing what you are doing.
I can't believe I never heard of Pallbearer. I used to listen to The Sword mainly, but after they put out that pilonidal cyst of an album, High Country I needed something new. Pallbearer and Elder are my new jams.
Nice Cirith Ungol shirt! Excited for the vinyl re-release of King of the Dead. Heartless sounds mighty interesting too, will need a few more listens for it to kick in though.
I've been listening to this band for a few years now and I have no problems with this record whatsoever it's great. I still think foundations is their best but this is still an easy pick for one of my favorite albums of the year seen them live once as well and they are awesome live nice review Sarah \m/
Great review, thx! I've been enjoying Pallbearer for a few yrs now, and this really seems to play into the natural progression of the band. Changing, but not so much that you can't recognize them. I think she's right, the next Big Thing!!
Awesome review! Sarah you are the best at this on this chanel. I do not want to offend Sam and Bradley. But i like my metal reviews emotional. So thank you for what you are doing guys, waiting for new series.
I usually like Doom, and was a big fan of the Khemmis record last year, but for some reason I find it very hard to get into into Pallbearer... Maybe it's the vocals, or the meandering songwriting... In any case, I'll keep trying considering how great everybody says they are. Hopefully it will eventually click (and I am indeed appreciating the record more with each listening).
^Exactly, dont try to force yourself to like a band just because a lot of other people praise them. That's not what underground metal is about, the conforming musical tastes should be left to pop music. If its not your thing, its not your thing. Find other bands that DO click for you. Be an individual.
the first time i heard pallbearer i hated it, but now its my back patch. (ps i probably would have gotten a khemmis back patch but there werent any available)
Once you really, really sit there and absorb Dancing in Madness, its brilliance is clear. There are so many pieces that flow perfectly into each other and its message is both haunting and beautiful at the same time.
I just mildly enjoyed the other two Pallbearer albums but I loved this one on the first listen. I had no idea they were super popular and all. Good for them I guess. Good music is good music. Excellent job reviewing this great album. MORE DOOM REVIEWS! Review the new The Obsessed record when it comes out!
There is an entire wing of Melodic Doom Metal since Candlemass and Sain Vitus in the 1980s. Seatch for bands like Solitude Æturnus, Fates Warning, Memory Garden, Memento Mori, early Tad Morose, and others.
Really good review. However, I can't agree on A Plea For Understanding's solo-vocals, I didn't like them in the beginning and understand where you're coming from, but to me the slight "offness" of the notes really creates the atmosphere of solitude it should. Also just a hint: 7:29 isn't a real violin, but rather a volume-swelling effect created by picking a note on the guitar and then turning the volume knob up, which sounds similar to a violin.
Great job. I simply LOVE a great in depth review like this. Even if it's a genre I don't care much for, it's interesting enough to draw me in, because it informs me when someones have vested enough into it. Giving a fuck matters. I can only dream of someone reviewing our last album like this. ;)
I love the new one, but nothing they've done yet has topped Given to the Grave for me. Good basic doom metal is so few and far between that it was hard to digest Heartless at first because it's not straight doom.
i'm a pretty cheap, shallow man. Even if I know the band won't intrest me in the first 3 tracks, it's really enjoyable watching this woman talk about music. (L)
Oh and if I have ANYONE's attention... give SIX FEET UNDER - TORMENT a shot.. it's full of epic death metal riffs and an album that shows a love for the past and and understanding of what's been happening in DM.
I'm a big stoner/doom/sludge fan, and for me, Pallbearer's best record was Foundations of Burden. Despite that, I think this record is fucking fantastic, I love what's going on here. While I think some of what Foundations of Burden did were preferable from my perspective, I do love to listen to a slow, sad, anthem-y feeling record, and that's what this is too me.
Did not like the album after 5 listen throughs and beeing a huge fan of the first two. After watching your review I am a fan of the third one two. Thank you for that!
Am not a big fan of doom metal due to the vocals sounding like they recorded with a potato in a bathroom, 🤭 but pallbearer sounds like a nice band to listen. I like how clear it sounds and doesn't get lost in the lushness of their sound. Nice!
Really liking Sarah's sense of humour and depth of reviews
This album is truly mesmerizing. If this doesn't announce their arrival as one of metal's preeminent bands I don't now what will.
She's getting better and more natural in her reviewing style. well done
Keep those thoughts to yourself.
lmao I replied to the wrong guy, woopsie!
Was meant for one of the fucks insulting her.
Who? No one is insulting her here. Stop making shit up.
The comments were removed, but they were saying fucked up stuff like "women dont belong in metal, she should be raped." Great work, Sarah! Another true review.
Moonspell67 I
Sarah is definitely the best reviewer on this channel. Her metal reviews are some of the best on YT actually.
It's always a good day for me when I see Sarah ;)
As for the Pallbearer's new Album, "I waited a long time for this and it feels great, just great..."
Cheers.
Norman Rand Wolfe back off my woman lol jk
You won your bet.
Yes, we have rights to ;)
Yes, you are pathetic... No argument from me on that established fact.
As someone's who loves Doom but can get real picky with how it's done, Pallbearer hit all the marks for me. Cool review!
recommend checking out 40 Watt Sun, they play a similar style of doom, only even sadder :D
Pakkemi Yeah, love 40 watt sun, and his other band Warning as well. Definitely sad music, but who's always happy?
ikr xD and yeah, Warning is pretty damn noice aswell, but I kinda think that Patrick Walker (mainman behind both bands) perfected the sound in 40WS
acid bath ,agents of oblivion, paradise lost, Crowbar , Alice in chains. I recommend all those.
Best reviewer on Banger hands down. Love your delivery and flavor of words. KD
Awesome review, thoroughly informative. Will give this a spin.
Thank you for this review, not much of a doom metal fan but, I bought the album and was blown away!! Pallbearer has a new fan!! I'm also going to buy the first 2 album
The fact that this review doesn't find "Dancing in Madness" as a completely glowing track is a bit suspect.
Picked this up because of the review and have gone back and purchased their earlier work; furthermore, heartless deserves a vinyl purchase. Thanks Sarah.
another great review. you get more comfortable everyone you do and look more and more beautiful each review. keep up the good work

FlawedCoil82 I heard you. Thanks.
Definitely dig this album. I here a lot of Melvins influence in some of their riffs. In addition, I hear some Alice In Chains influence. Vocally, I hear some Layne Staley in his annunciation and even some "Dirt" guitar riffs.
Jondubb78 in other words grunge lol
Jondubb78 me too. Loving the vibe
great review Sarah!
This was such a great review, it was really in depth and broke down a lot of the album really well, and your style of review was really rad, hope to see more of these!
Great review. Doing an awesome job!
Can't wait to dig in to this album myself, love the artwork as well. Great job on the review!
Mark (the drummer) introduced me to their band a few months after he started teaching me drums, and OMG HOW HAPPY I AM THAT HE DID I LOVE IT
Gonna see them with Gojira soon! Thanks for great review
My favorite reviewer on this channel.

Really Like her reviews. Keep it up.
Nice Cirith Ungol shirt! Excited for the vinyl re-release of King of the Dead.
Heartless sounds mighty interesting too, will need a few more listens for it to kick in though.
Vocal harmony is one of the best parts of their sound. The middle of Worlds Apart comes to mind straight away.
I've been listening to this band for a few years now and I have no problems with this record whatsoever it's great. I still think foundations is their best but this is still an easy pick for one of my favorite albums of the year seen them live once as well and they are awesome live nice review Sarah \m/
First time I am hearing about them, but it sound like a nice "substitute" for Woods of Ypres.
Great review, thx! I've been enjoying Pallbearer for a few yrs now, and this really seems to play into the natural progression of the band. Changing, but not so much that you can't recognize them. I think she's right, the next Big Thing!!
Cirith Ungol? Nice! I grew up near their hometown of Ventura, CA. I'm friends with their guitarist Jim Barazza.
love this band so much and only admire their ability to evolve and grow throughout their discography.
This reviewer is amazing, she describes the music so clearly. Keep up the good work
A bit like what Swallow the Sun did with "Songs from the North". Great review as usual. You could do a review on Wolfheart's latest album "Tyhjyys".
Awesome review! Sarah you are the best at this on this chanel. I do not want to offend Sam and Bradley. But i like my metal reviews emotional. So thank you for what you are doing guys, waiting for new series.

Why force it, it doesn't have to click.

Are you sure that's a violin and not an effects pedal? Not sure myself
I've never heard of Pall Bearer before but after today I got hooked
Once you really, really sit there and absorb Dancing in Madness, its brilliance is clear. There are so many pieces that flow perfectly into each other and its message is both haunting and beautiful at the same time.

Excellent job reviewing this great album. MORE DOOM REVIEWS! Review the new The Obsessed record when it comes out!
Will have to check this band out, like the clean vocal style, Candlemass goes AOR, but still super thick and heavy. Nice
Great review. I'm going to look this band up right away.
Good review....checking out Pagan Altar now.
another great review. Keep up the good work Sarah
Is this melodic doom? Is that a thing?
Exactly what I was thinking. It might be a thing now....
Mike Stahl Melodic Death Doom was founded by Swallow The Sun in 2003 or My Dying Bride in 1993.
It's been a thing for quite a while check out the doom band "Solstice".
There is an entire wing of Melodic Doom Metal since Candlemass and Sain Vitus in the 1980s. Seatch for bands like Solitude Æturnus, Fates Warning, Memory Garden, Memento Mori, early Tad Morose, and others.
***** Lyrically, FW have been pretty doomful. Musically, not so much.
Thanks for the great review! I'm just starting to get into doom and will definitely check out Pallbearer!
Sarah. I love your reviews.
Really good review. This is album is perfect imo from front to back. Great review. Plea is dope af tho, and dancing in madness is my fav track on here.
Great review, made me more excited to get my hands on this album!
Seeing them live for the very first time next Wednesday.
that Shirt Rules!I'm from Their home town, one of my fave bands for sure.
when are they reviewing the new Havok album?
Considering how big Sam is on thrash, it's honestly unbelievable to me that there hasn't been reviews for Havok and Power Trip. Both are amazing.
Andrew Reed "Nightmare Logic" is easily already my #1 album of 2017!
Great review!
When you play a cd of their's does it go Ohhhhhh yessssss?
I love both the beautiful and the heavy styles of the band. Fantastic doom.
Definitely heard the Gilmore vibes in the solo on Dancing in Madness
I miss the thick wall of sludge that Sorrow and Extinction had.
Agreed. It was a great sound to get lost in. This does sound good too, though.
But can you argue that their songwriting hasn't gotten better despite guitar tone since? It has I say
Then listen to "Sorrow and Extinction." The new album is great.
I love the new one, but nothing they've done yet has topped Given to the Grave for me. Good basic doom metal is so few and far between that it was hard to digest Heartless at first because it's not straight doom.
Which is why I love it personally.
I like that girl! Good review Sarah, I like your reviewing style and your insights.
This is the best review of the album I've seen yet. It's so accurate.
Great review by the way.
This is a fabulous album. I can't stop listening to it.
Why haven't you guys done an overkill review on Havok's Conformicide ? :( nice video though
This usually isn't my style of music but I may just have to pick this up. 🤔
More Sarah!
Pallbearer is dipping their toe heavy into the sludge this time around.
That opening shot with the eye tru the R fucked with me a bit. I'm OK now though. Thanks.
i'm a pretty cheap, shallow man. Even if I know the band won't intrest me in the first 3 tracks, it's really enjoyable watching this woman talk about music. (L)
Oh this album might catch my attention.. nice.
Oh and if I have ANYONE's attention... give SIX FEET UNDER - TORMENT a shot.. it's full of epic death metal riffs and an album that shows a love for the past and and understanding of what's been happening in DM.
Great review
Melodic structure and the clean vocals...win for me!
gonna have to check this band out
This album is fuggin' gorgeous!
Is it.... sad?
Jk! Great review. Their song "Ashes" really gives me the feels though.
Pallbearer and Khemmis are proudly holding the torch for Doom as far as younger bands go :D fucking massive
reminds me of Solitude Aeturnus.
Nothing wrong with sludge IMO…
I love this album. I the first two were phenom but I am all about this album
one of the few bands that make me proud of metal
AOTY contender
Props for the Cirith Ungol shirt
mentioning big black is cool
Paradise Lost with Amorphis vocals. Dancing with Madness was the only bit that i enjoyed.
Pallbearer is one of my favourite traditional doom metal bands!
I thumb's up for the Cirith Ungol T.
Love the bar.
Did not like the album after 5 listen throughs and beeing a huge fan of the first two. After watching your review I am a fan of the third one two. Thank you for that!
dope!
This album is so good.
enjoy their combine works. to me Pallbearer, like ghost, show especially In vocals styles of the American B.O.C. band.
a Dire Straights reference! nice
This album is a fucking masterpiece. By far the best band out there right now.
Am not a big fan of doom metal due to the vocals sounding like they recorded with a potato in a bathroom, 🤭 but pallbearer sounds like a nice band to listen. I like how clear it sounds and doesn't get lost in the lushness of their sound. Nice!
great band
The bass player sings as well.
