Michelangelo literally ran away multiple times and went into hiding because he hated painting the Sistine Chapel. The church had to drag him back to keep working on the painting. So if you are ever having a rough time with art, remember one of the greatest painters of all time went into hiding so he wouldn't have to work on a painting anymore.

I mean, considering how he had to spend a significant portion of that commission lying flat on his back on a wooden palette to paint it? Yeah I can see why he didn't enjoy that experience.

He also made God nude as well at first right? And then the church was shocked and told him to give God clothes.

To be fair Michelangelo hated almost everything and everyone… beside he wasn’t a painter, he was a sculptor and the pope was quite a difficult man himself

tbh I just want to profusely thank Jacob for picking my current anime hyperfixation. Lupin III isn't like, totally obscure? but hearing that he was focusing his painting on that made my brain go "!!!!!!!"
He did say Loupun more than Lupin though.
He didn't say it 'the French way' though. It's 'Lou-PAIN' ('pain' like the French word for bread, not the English word for pain), not 'LOU-pawn'. He's pronouncing it like they do in the show, though.
One big thing I love about Drawfee is the way they accept each other's compliments gracefully and without apologizing/denying. Great example. Love these nerds

Michelangelo actually did only think of the Sistine chapel as a paycheck; he really didn’t like painting as much as he liked sculpting, so Julia was kind of right!

@Skinny pp energy i know they (michelangelo and davinci) were both commissioned to paint opposite sides of a hall (a commission i believe neither of them finished) some years before the sistine chapel, and both of them wrote snide notes about each other in their sketches. can't find any info abt raph or davinci working on the sistine tho

"I immediately accidentally drew some stuff on the wrong layers." is the most relatable and heart-rending thing I have ever heard.
Happens to me all the time when I switch layer, draw a line, undo, then draw again not realising that it also took me back to the previous layer. I get a bit in to it then realise, and it's like "well damn, I guess this is what I'm doing now". lol
I am now deeply relaxed.

This show has such incredible art but everyone's so chill that it doesn't make me feel inadequate and it's encouraging instead
honestly they're my biggest art inspiration at the moment. They're always uplifting each other, and giving genuine compliments about improvement and appreciating what the others have done. Makes me wanna do art as well :)
I feel like they always make it clear that anyone can do it with hard work, and they always encourage each other and their fans, there's also something about the genuine energy of the show that makes me feel like they really mean it.
I think it also helps that you see the process of the work, you see them making and correcting mistakes, which is a very different beast to just seeing the finished product.
FR and they have art problems as well, and actually talk about their art insecurities and lift eachother up!! THE MOST WHOLESOME/FUNNIEST ART SHOW

Lupin as the Lady with the Pearl Earring is just too perfect. Given the character’s history, I could see him disguising himself as such to escape authorities chasing him while pulling shenanigans. He could have stolen an actual expensive earring and that’s why he chose to replicate the painting.
I think it would be hilarious in one of these speed draw episodes, one of them just comes in with prerecorded footage of them making a traditional painting and everyone else is like "what the hell is this???"

What I love about Jacob's drawing is how Lupin is wearing lipstick as part of the disguise. Because he doesn't look at you until the big reveal. If you see his face, the disguise is over. There is no obligation for him to wear lipstick! (not that I'm judging or anything)
Lupin is a consummate professional and always makes sure his makeup is on-point for disguises.

I relate so hard, as an artist who is also colourblind- everything looks so funky to other people, but I guess that’s part of what makes it unique or interesting!

I have an idea for a art challenge. One person draws a character, and does the shading for it on another layer. Then when the first person is done, they try to make a character out of the shading, and so on.

I love the way Karina included the side characters into her drawing, replacing the angels with these characters, and then added Lagann into the mix as well, almost like everyone is jumping out of it to get to Simon.
God, everyone killed it this episode, like they always do a great job but everyone just went ham this time, seriously impressive stuff!

I’ve never related more to Julia than when she goes to correct Jacob’s pronunciation and faces fierce backlash. I’m sure many of the fans can relate to the impulse to blurt out something you know.

I love Jacob’s commentary on the other’s art and process. He really adds to it by simply pointing out technical things he is impressed about. It is so wholesome and nice of him
Jacob is a really good conversationalist in general, he often finds ways to bring out discussions and make remarks about stuff. :)

What's great about jacob is how honest he is about his skills and how he always tries to improve. Ive been watching this channel for so long so i know how much improvement jacob had through the years
Julia absolutely throwing Nathan for a loop mid-sentence is the best thing. Also, since I mentioned two of them in one sentence, still requesting Artists draw themselves as their Nathan-sonas. The inner Nathan they wish they could be, or roleplay as, or cosplay as at Nathan Conventions. I recognize that at least one them will just draw their usual artist avatar with a dollar store beard on wire that hooks over the ears disguise but...that's also exactly what I want to see.
I love Nathan's uncontrollable laughter. It makes me feel like everything is gonna be alright.
