Great video! I love your very last remark about super steels have their place and these do to and can be easily sharpened in the field. An important point 🔪👍

I've got a kabar style knife in DC-53 that I took a gamble on, and honestly I'm very impressed with what I got for the money. It's a leather stack handle (which I love!), big 9" flat ground blade that SLICES, fairly robust tang about the same as a kabar but with a threaded pommel instead of a pinned pommel. My "testing" is similar to yours in that I chop (more on this one because it's such a choppy feeling knife) and baton some wood, do some feather sticks, maybe chop some wire to see how it holds up. The DC53 seems to be some pretty tough steel that holds a good edge! I had no real edge rolling where I think on most of my other bowies I'd have some. No idea if it'll break the same way as kabars do, but I'm not bothered either way many people can go their whole lives using a kabar and not have any issue just respect the limitation.

That’s cool. And you are correct. The Kabar when used as designed is a great knife

The Bradford Guardian 3.5 and White River Knives M1 are similar, though superior IMOP, to the original knife whose orange scales you dies black. Love them both! Appreciate the vid, PBKG. 🐱💙🙏👊🙂

@peterbiltknifeguy You should try to score one on the bay. It's a really tough blade. Basically the Rat 1's big brother (I think).

Whenever a $29 performs this well it makes me think hmmm? 🤷‍♂️ Maybe a "Yard Knife?" [One that you know you can always run back into the house and replace in a jiffy!]

if its real dc53 for that price that is nice i like a good well made leather handle without buttons on it to fiddle with for quick draw.

Bro you basically got two knives for free. Bashed the heck out of it and complain about a hiccup on the edge. It’s $30 not $230 and I personally think it’s okay for the price oh yeah for free in your case. 😂 tell what send it to me and I’ll Zelle you $15
