Hey Tim. It's a great place to start - sometimes you'll need to tweak the recipe a bit or mix for longer etc depending on how they turn out as G-free flour blends can behave slightly differently from normal flour, but it's definitely worth a go.

Hi jemma, i love ur videos!!! I attempted to make the goo in advance (that is, the night before) and now it has "solidified" into real jam (jelly-like). What shld i do so that i can still mix it in my batter and get the swirls?
Charlene Lim you can put it on a pan at low fire and add some water, when it is well combined its ready. don't overcooked it or it will solidify as it cools.
I have a gluten free flour mix but it isn't a self rising mix. what additonal things would I have to add to the recipe to equal a self rising flour for this recipie
Hi Hiu, gluten free flour blends tend to be thirsty fellows! So a straight swap of self raising flour may not give you the same results. A cheeky experiment maybe in order? ;)

For those who can't tolerate xanthan gums, psyllium husk is a good alternative. Just replace with the same quantity. Looks a yummy recipe.

Aysha Lehdan the gum holds it all together. The way gluten does for a regular recipe. Without it crumbles apart.

Try using a bit of arrowroot starch instead, which is more widely available in larger supermarkets.
