Beautiful Valley Trail Ride, Main Loop, 07-05-2023

- Today's ride was a two hour 20 minute drive south to Beautiful Valley 15 minutes west of Geraldine. The track was awesome but it did have a couple of sections that were slippery with some good ruts, also a couple of hill climbs that were slippery creating a bit of a bottle neck as younger and less experienced riders had some problems. This is one lap of the main loop.

good pace brother that was a slippery ride! That hill killed me...twice. bitta footage on here under my name took my old body 4 days to get over it haha
I love this ride, would be better if there was less roads and more single track in the trees. Haha yeah I can relate to the recovering part takes this old fella a few days to come right. Sweet I'll check out your footage. Cheers Richard

Epic trail ride, has a bit of everything in it! I got ambitious on my 2nd lap and spent a good while buried in a big mud rut on the long uphill where you got stuck on the fence side- that sapped my energy! 😅
Hey there Barry yes your right I do like this ride, yeah that section is notorious for being wet and grabbing bikes and holding on to them, your right you can loose a lot of energy getting a bike out. Yeah I rode up to the fence line to early couldn't figure out why I had got stuck.
What tyres are you running?I had well worn summer tyres on and was having a nightmare for traction
Hey there Steven I run Michelin Starcross 5 soft on the front and Michelin Starcross 5 medium on the rear, both tyres had done 4 rides just turned the rear tyre this weekend, far king awesome tyres bit pricey through rear around $170 to $190 front around $140. Will do 2 or 3 rides then cut a sharp edge with a Knobby Knife. Yeah you would have a few issues with traction in those conditions, apart from that did you have a good day I had a blast love this ride. Cheers Richard
Hey mate, what an awesome ride!!! That track was one of the best I’ve seen you put up. I wish we had rides like that in Oz. Might have to come over and hire a bike and hit a couple of ride days / trail loops. Hey mate, what camera do you use?
Hey there Phil glad you enjoyed, yes it was an awesome ride. We are lucky to have Grenville organising all these rides for us, he does this and rides for tourists for a living. Haha yeah you'd have a blast what bike are you riding. Cheers Richard
Sorry the camera I use is a gopro Session I have 4 of them and I use a proshot mount attached to the front of my helmt. Cheers Richard
Hey Richard, thanks for the reply. I hadn’t heard of the GoPro session, had to Google it.. nice! I’ve got a hero8 from memory, and a WR450 Aussie edition. Love it!!
@@venerphi Hey there Phil, don't think gopro makes the sessions anymore I went with them because they are small and less weight on the front of my helmet. I've had a few different bikes over the years and I love my 2020 YZ450fx awesome bike, you got a few hours on the WR, did my first piston at 200 hrs. Cheers Richard

@@RichardStreeterYZ450FX i did the red arrows that hill climb that i saw you on i got up that and the 2nd one i got stuck on a rut i was only on a drz125 but it was a great trail ride im thinking of doing the one on the 11th
@@emmaisapoobum I see ya you're wearing a light blue top, DRZ125 cool makes it a bit harder in these slippery conditions when don't have alot of horse power to play with, good on ya for getting out there and having fun. If you can definitely get out to the Omihi Coast ride on the 11th, there won't be to many rides now that it's winter, I'll be out there. Cheers Richard
