Day 1 | Camino Portuguese | Porto to Labruge | March 18, 2024

- Our first day on the Camino Portuguese started with a short walk from the Se Cathedral down to the Douro River where we caught the historic tram which we rode for about 12 minutes (skipping 4 miles of the walk) to the lighthouse (Foz do Douro). From here, we walked along the Litoral Way until we reached Labruge where we stayed for the night at Casa de Praia Guest House.
We walked 14.06 miles (22.63 km). Our total time on the trail, which included breaks, was 8 hours 40 minutes.

Thanks for sharing, after completing my second Camino Frances; in two years I plan on walking the Litoral and Variance Espiritual. I like the idea of taking the Tram. Buen Camino Sisters 2 Santiago.

So glad I found you guys! We (my good friend and I) are doing our first Camino, same route as you in Sept/Oct. We have two weeks to get there, walk and get home so a little tight on the schedule. Can't wait to watch your entire trip.

I’m working my way through your videos, I was wondering if you guys have tried Hoka shoes? I haven’t seen enough to know if you mentioned more about your shoes other than a packing video I saw. I had horrible planter fasciitis that I’ve been able to keep away with Hokas and sometimes I get heel pain too that the Hokas seem to help. I’m sorta obsessed now. Can’t wait to see more of this trip! We have family in Denver so visit several times a year (we live in Long Beach, California)
Hi! My sister and I both are struggling with achilles tendinitis and plantar fasciitis. We have been using Altra trail runners. For this last, Camino, Ann Marie used their new trail runner that is specific for planters fasciitis. She is in the process of trying the Topo‘s now. The Hoka’s were too narrow for her.

Yay - another Camino to follow with the Sisters 2 Santiago 😀 - Will you be doing live broadcasts on this one? Can you tell me how you like your new microphones? I thought the sound was good, maybe those little furry things on top help to cut out the wind & sound because I could hear your speaking very clearly. Are they DJI mics (which ones) and are you using them with your cell phone?
We did have live broadcasts which are already posted, but we did them directly through RUclips and the quality wasn't good unfortunately. They are DJI mics. We did have some problems with the charging element a bit later into our camino though. The fuzzy top things do cut the wind sound amazingly! Yes, it was connected directly to my cell phone.
My daughters and I will be doing this same journey in just 5 weeks. Thanks so much for posting!
