E.g. if you're making a film about an African-American slave it is not considered discrimination to factor in the skin color of an ethnic Norwegian who might decide to audition. But, it would be discrimination if you judged that person not capable of the role based on infidelity in their private life. Previous infidelity in one's private life is not a factor when judging whether an individual possesses the competence to lead government. It is equally as irrelevant as skin color, ethnicity, gender, sexual preference, who your ancestors were, etc. Those things are not relevant when determining competency. If you consider irrelevant factors of a person, as a determining factors, because you personally find it distasteful, it qualifies as discrimination.

Rees-Mogg isn't saying that abortion is moral when Boris' lover has one, he's saying it is immoral but it's a matter between him and god. I'm perfectly happy to have someone make a distinction between the public and private. I'm satisfied if a person can respect that their religion shouldn't impose on others and that "we sinners" can nonetheless be good people and good leaders. It was like the attacks on Tim Farron who accepted secularism in politics but nonetheless had his own private morality. If he was a Muslim this might be labeled Islamophobia. You're welcome to dislike him for his personal morality but I think it's churlish to think someone unfit to govern simply because they have private values.

Glasgow Kiss That is not what he said. He was asked to compare two completely different things. His opinion on abortion and the actions of another person. Believe it or not they do not correlate. I do not agree with him on abortion, I am not personally a religious person either , in fact I think it is nothing more than a self delusion. He also never said brexit means brexit, and that also doesn’t correlate with his abortion stance. I also think you will find, I made a statement which was completely valid and then was insulted for it, which does make them inferior and for you to call me a fool for simply defending myself is in itself foolish and unwise.
Robert Scott They were different things in essence but what he thinks is determined by his religious views which he seems to cherry pick to suit the occasion.

Not only is this NOT what my license money should go to, but it is insulting to anyone who has an understanding of whats really going on in society and those who pull the strings. Who got to you Jeremy? Who's showing you promises of promotion? You've really let yourself down the last few years. As for the line of questioning..... its this simple... Mogg doesnt want to judge because the bible says quite clearly, Judge not lest ye be judged. It also says that a man should take care of the plank in his own eye before worrying about the splint in his brothers eye. And if he was to judge Boris unsuitable based on particular sins.... who on Earth would qualify to become leader short of Jesus Christ himself hmm? Very leftist interview, very disappointing but... what else can we expect from the BBC.
A good example of free speech. The interviewer was quite offensive as was the obese lady. These same people arguing about Boris's private life have no real morality except where it may be politically usefull. I do not agree with Catholic teaching but I do respect that JRM is morally clear and unambiguous. Unlike almost every politician he doesnt change his morality to suit his political agenda.
Why do interviewers go on and on and on about JRM's views with regard to Boris Johnson's snd others: private lives? It seems to me to be insular to the point of ignorance. What we want is an intelligent, influential PM who will make Great Britain and Northern Ireland great again. Who cares about politicians' private views? We have the islands at stake. Let's focus on what matters now.
Notice how Vine tries to reign Mogg in by saying we are talking about Boris, but it was him who brought up abortion... Has Mogg even said someone who has had an abortion couldn't run the country? No.

When you judge people on irrelevant factors, it's called discrimination.
E.g. if you're making a film about an African-American slave it is not considered discrimination to factor in the skin color of an ethnic Norwegian who might decide to audition.

This strikes me as wilful misunderstanding in order to try and score political points. It was like the attacks on Tim Farron who accepted secularism in politics but nonetheless had his own private morality. If he was a Muslim this might be labeled Islamophobia. everyone was listening to what he had to say and that was, only my opinion is valid and brexit means brexit. your resorting to calling someone inferior to you is proof of the type of fool you are.

My comments are not made to defend the Labour Party or any wrong doings, but having mentioned the Labour Party, tell us, out of the three main Parties which one has fought over the years, along with the Unions, for ORDINARY people and tell us what the Tory Party has done for Ordinary people without being coerced into it?
@@peterjack4922 Yes that is the traditional belief in the UK that the Labour party and the Unions represented the interests of the working class. It may have been at certain points in the UK's history but there are maybe one ot two really memorable things which were countered strangley by the Tories!!
Labour and the NHS (I was born before its formation) and even then there was opposition from some quaters of the Labour party! I heard one argument was made that it was formed to keep the fighting men from the working classes fit for war duty abroad. More recently we had the UK involved in a war with Iraq. A Labour party that colluded with the neo cons in Washington and Blair's lies with the dodgy dossier. That is why I don't support any party but try to look objectively. I just feel the history of the Labour party is chequered with opportunism and lies to support it by becoming a member. Now it has made a pack with the Islamists for votes.
A party that overlooked Tony Benn as leader who was a highly educated man, an herditary peer and who gave it up to be a vanguard of democracy, was shameful of the left. At least the Tories make no secret about who they represent. They are honest bastards.
That woman is some fool
What!! Killing a human is likened to having affairs??
Watching mogg from new England. This guy jrm is real deal and should be PM. When you can hold your own against 3 fronts. Then at end Vine asks him to be PM. Just unbelievable. It shows that Great politicians are the ones that people support even when they don't agree with your position.

As is typical of pretty much all TV debate, particularly the BBC, there's no interest whatsoever in appealing to logic and reasonabless, just a sordid display of point scoring and a rabid desire to sanctimoniously elevate the extreme left while holding up as sacrosanct one's right to be offended at absolutely everything and nothing.
Nothing to do with that, they are pointing out the hypocrisy of JRM position as a Christian. Do you think it's reasonable for a woman who has been raped to have an abortion should she find herself pregnant?
@@georgearmstrong4731 Jacob is honest, there is no hypocrisy in him.He talks only of his faith. He points out that there is a second life from the moment of conception- that is what he emphasises.Critics need to understand that point.

@@peterjack4922 Would it actually make any difference if I had heard it recently?
@@georgearmstrong4731 In Florida alone, 2018 statistics show the percentage of women who aborted as a consequence of rape was less that 0.1 percent. The vast majority were for reasons such as 'not ready for a baby now...don't want to be a single mother...don't feel mature enough...would interfere with career plans...'and similar. In addition, many women suffer emotional turmoil after terminating. I fail to see how JRM is anything approaching a hypocrite.
Whenever i hear Mogg speak my spirit is lifted...I feel there is hope for our Nation.
But when I hear the BBC commentators and presenters - I hear accusations...judgement...and moral arrogance...My heart sinks...The media is toxic. The media is a snake!

Yes he really was in a pit of vipers there.
The thing I find interesting is the modern social media view that someone holding a differing opinion is unacceptable.
Boris Johnson`s private life is his private life. Just because he is a public figure does not mean that public own his life.
it does actually thats the thing about public service you are held to a higher account of morality
What you say is absurd. A politician's private life is of utmost importance to voters. If they cheat on their spouses, they will cheat on others as well. In fact, knowing that a politician has committed adultery would be the single most important reason for me not to vote for them. I'm not saying I never could, but it would be the strongest counterargument possible. And what Jacob Rees-Mogg is saying is not that adultery doesn't matter or that the public shouldn't care. He's saying that it is not for him personally to morally judge a particular person.
Despite being a backbencher, I wish he could be Prime Minister. What a wise and well-spoken gentleman.
"Judge not, that ye be not judged." Exactly Jacob!

Muck dragging journalist? who told the truth about a lying racist who wants to lead our Country. What is wrong, can you not handle the truth, got that used to being brainwashed with lies.
@@peterjack4922 The question I believe, without looking at the video again, related to JRM refusing to condemn Johnson's adultery. Funny really as I have been on another site with so called Christians telling everyone how Israel Falou is doing God's work and condemning homosexuals....and isn't that the problem with people like yourself who decide that someone is a liar or less worthy and everyone else is wrong.
I am unaware of Johnson being a racist - having kids with a very mixed background my antenna is very attuned so perhaps you will enlighten me with the substance of your claims.
Also, "steady on there old son", you'll give yourself a heart attack...have I somehow wronged you that you have to be so aggressive or talk to someone as if there is a child on the other end of the conversation. Bit arrogant of you Sir! Can I assure you I am so not brainwashed nor in thrall to any media having been convinced of the inherent bias in the media long before it became a topic of debate.
Ahh I see what has upset you ref: racism..could it be Johnson letterbox joke? Frankly he is 100% right. This is a country where you are compelled to remove you motorcycle helmet and if it is good enough for bikers it is good enough for those who request to settle here. Beyond mere motorcycle helmets or covering one's face against the cold there is an inherent openness in this society where the covering of the face is unacceptable and frankly they do look like letterboxes. What modern woman would allow herself to be subject to such regressive conditioning. Racist me arse! Cop onto yourself...it bad enough that people cannot make a frank comment without being called racist but to see you gallant knights rushing to their rescue when surely if their intention is to remain outside the norms of society they should explain themselves and not require you to do it for them you bleeding heart twit.
@@peterjack4922 Well that's a bit more constructive and I thank you.I followed your advice and I did look at the video again and moreover I have always been watching Johnson...there was no trace of any racist agenda when Johnson was mayor of London. Not a bit! Ad JRM states there are WAY, WAY too many people inclined to jump on ANYTHING said as racist. English people used be far more resilient...I myself have lived in London for 30 years and have on many occasions had my Irish ancestry referenced...in many case and with the same wording there was clearly no racist intent whatsoever and in some cases, and with less obvious words there was a very great deal of racist intent. That is why JRM drew attention to what is said and the colourful language employed by BJ to which no racism is attached. I do not see the SNP calling out Borris Johnson to any great extent nor a single serious African/Carribean etc. society!!! Not one. The factual issues are that there is way too much immigration to the UK...peoplle come to London to impose the cultures and if you had lived in North London you would see just how NOT integrated are the India cultures that have simoly taken over Wembley/Kingsbury. I work a lot on the continent...come to Caen or LeHavre and now we have a deluge of young African men sleeping in ditches to get to the UK....clearly breaching EU law.
I too have children and I hope to have grandchildren so I am not blind to what is happening and I have already alluded to my European connections...France, Highest youth unemployment in Europe, anti-business on just about every level. Come to Brussels NOrd Station and walk through there at night...it's a refugee centre and you had better be a practitioner of some self-defense art because it is a very scary place. Take a drive on the roads in Belgium....they are a catastrophe. Trt setting up a business and running it is France and come back to me when your exhausted giving up your weekends to do the admin and the government is taking huge amounts off you to employ anyone to help...get back to me on that!
I have sen my on country Ireland, playing the good little European while the French and German banks wouldn't allow the bondholders to burn (as Iceland did to rescue it's economy) BECAUSE the French and German banks were the ones who lent the money....that is why Ireland owes colossal sums of money (60k for every man, woman and child) and meantime the Irish health service has old people lying ion trollies, the highest homelessness rates in Europe with people on large incomes unable to rent or buy...a flat in Dublin is 2k a month if you can get it. THat is the equivalent of buying a 500k house and you'll need a job paying in excess of 120k a year and a 50k deposit....that is the EU writ large my friend!!!! SO think again!
@RoadKillzine Maybe if you put your play station down you could keep up with current affairs and what is going in the country AND the world. It is difficult to believe that you ask this.
You should have run , very disappointed your the only politician I can see that seems to talk sense
