thanx. helped me out alot. im getting real tired of current set-up. 1. sp 404 2. wk 300 keyboard 3. sp 1200 now i can step up to the mp2500. looks like a great feature.. again thanx!!!
i have the MPC2500 and it is a great machine, but i also have an MPD24 and a DAW. The fact is that the MPD with a DAW can do anything that the MPC can do.... it might be kinda sad but i think software is the future..... although there will probs always be those who prefer to use the MPC out there. That being said, the MPC2500 is a great machine and its well worth gaining experience with
Man! Yeah.... I was asking "the big shots" on an mpcforum , and they didnt really know what to do. I was trying to use 16 levels without it changing the time or length of the sample but still changing pitch... and here we go! Nice video... I was wondering what Patch Phrase did...
The MPC2000 can do this but you would have to do it manually. the 2500 and 1000 provides this feature for you but if you wanted to achieve the same result from mpc2000xl all you have to do is chop it up in which it's called "zones" and manually lay each zone time corrected at SEQ tempo. This way no matter what tempo you use it will be "patch phrased". The cool thing about the 2500 and 1000 is the ability to apply 16 Level Tuning on the patch phrase which is dope. Again there is work arounds....
A way to do it this manually is to time stretch each sample on the 2000 using the BPM to match the tempo for each sample...so it won't be in realtime but you get the same result manually...or you could just loop start to end an entire sample without chopping it, then change the tune on that entire sound from the trims parameter screen until you match the BPM's and then do the chop into a program, you'll have the same result
you could also 16 Level tuning on the sample being played individually until you find the right pitch you want but that would be on each chopped sample while your chops are already layed out through out the Sequence correctly your pitch isn't so you have to find the right pitch for that BPM with the 16 level. I would go with the loop start to end parameter chop way.
you can select the amount of slices with the data wheel after pressing chop. makes it real easy to get all your chops on beat if you can count bars. if ur using akai os you might have to hit window or something but i wouldnt chop on the mpc1000 with the akai os.
very nice video. unfortunately it's caused some confusion over on the MPC forums. this is not an example of "realtime time stretching." there is no timestretching going on in patched phrase, instead the audio is simply sliced and the slices are played back at slower/faster rates.
big up for this ! but it only works with a drum loop right? try it with a sample without drums ...and it doesnt works. it stottered extremly ... or did i anything wrong?
i got this sample and everytime i chop it up and do the 16 pad tune change it plays faster the higher the tune. so if i convert to patch phrase instead of sliced samples will it fix this???
Yes Sampletank and Kontakt do this real well. Here is a tutorial I made for Kontakt TimeStretch/Pitchshifting in Kontakt www.akaimpc.com/kontakt101b.html
