This game for the Broncos was lost in effort.
Peyton & Sanders just COULDN'T connect on that 9 route throughout the first half
Peyton's inability to run for first downs when he had MILES of yardage ahead of him (This is when being a pure passer can haunt you, don't force something when the easy yardage in right there)
The receivers failure to run deep enough routes... (Far too often did we see completions on 3rd down that resulted in 4th in 2/3)
And the sheer inaccuracy of Peyton on 3rd down as well...
Might I add the Play-calling selection wasn't the best either.
Defensively the Broncos played solid for the most part. Luck made some SENSATIONAL throws, but penalties didn't help Denver either.
All & all the Broncos played like they overlooked the Colts & it came back to bite them.
The Colts played good offensively, balanced attack, they didn't need a ton of yards on the ground, but just enough to set up 3rd & manageable; Defensively their defensive backs WON THIS GAME for them. People forget how good Vontae Davis was & he showcased it during this game. Notice the open field tackling as well... Just textbook, old school defense right there.
You gotta love the play-by-play highlights of a football game; true football fans get to see the story of the game rather than just look at the Box Score, TDs & Stat-line & believe that's the story of the game.
Hats off to an Amazing Career by Andrew Luck!

You can see the difference in his attitude from this game to next years AFC Championship game. This game he had an open hole to run through but didn’t take it in fear of his own ability, next year when it mattered the most he ran for 13 yards on 3rd and long, that’s how I knew he was determined to get his ring. He might’ve not been what he used to be but his determination and leadership helped that team work out somehow.

I remember having such mixed feelings during this game. I have been to hundreds of Colts games and when the Irsay got rid of Peyton I was so mad, only to waste a season to get a guy who might be a great quarterback. Then to watch him in Denver and being a fan after having lived there for a few years this was just so weird. Then in the 2nd quarter watching him overthrow his wideouts repeatedly and then punt was sad. I think I was more sad about how this turned out for Manning, than I was that "my" team won.

He was already playing hurt by this time, the same thing happened to him the following season.

@@aesir1ases64 Osweiller was just a tad worse than Trent Dilfer who game managed the Baltimore Ravens, the 2nd best D of all time to the Super Bowl. Denver's defense was great that year behind only the 85 Bears, 2000 Ravens, and 86 Giants. If any of those teams wound up putting up 13 points they were incredibly tough to beat. I think Oz could've done at least that vs. Carolina but likely would've lost the AFC Championship to New England.

He collapsed in the second half of 2014 as I recall. In the first few games he looked just like the guy who had thrown 55 TDs the year before, but as they say, when the end comes, it comes swiftly. Luckily for him, Denver had built a defense capable of carrying him the extra mile in 2015. I also personally believe he didn’t want his last game to be a loss to his old team.
