  • The PRO Act would devastate tens of millions of freelance workers, independent contractors, and gig workers across the country. Among them are Peter Kalivas, a dance studio owner, and Jessica Kelly, a freelance dancer.
    This is their story.
    The devastation to their work, and countless other jobs around the country, would be one of the serious consequences of the PRO Act.
    Tell your lawmakers to oppose the PRO Act today - it takes less than a minute:

    The thousands that you’ve spent on this video to get 400 views could’ve been given to workers

      No it's not. It's accurate. Look at AB5 for California. It's vague and not helpful at all. Do some research. This is full on point.

      @@Akinafair WOW. I think the people most impacted by the PROACT are the workers who keep the entire country a float especially during these increasingly harder times. Also Mrs. Fair, it’s worth noting that the core of the PROACT is the right to organize. Correct me if I am wrong but isn’t freedom of assembly a basic right and value in the United States? Is that a value you denounce??

    Wikipedia :- AB 5, introduced in December 2018, places the expansion of the Dynamex ruling on a statutory footing by inserting §2750.3 to the California Labor Code, and, as a general rule, puts the burden of proof on employers to show that a worker is properly classified as an independent contractor where all three of the following conditions are met:
    the worker is free from the control and direction of the employer in connection with the performance of the work, both under the contract for the performance of such work and in fact
    the worker performs work that is outside the usual course of the hiring entity's business
    the worker is customarily engaged in an independently established trade, occupation, or business of the same nature as the work performed for the hiring entity

    Free markets work. Wage and price controls do not. We have a right to do business any way we like. We have a right to enter in to any peaceful employment relationship we choose. Violating that right is morally wrong.

      We have a right to unionize!

      @freesk8 2 года назад +1

      @@scienceisreal779 Of course you have a right to unionize. You have a right to form any peaceful association you choose. But you have no right to force your employer to recognize or negotiate with your union. You have no right to force your co-workers to join your union. Unions should not get this special monopoly power enforced by the government. Unions should be free associations, not forced. Fix that part, and I am all for unions.

      @@scienceisreal779 Yes. A worker may quit for any reason. And an employer may fire an employee for any reason. The employment relationship is voluntary.

      @@scienceisreal779 Unionize for all I care. but Do NOT drag in all these freelancers into something that YOU WANT. Not everyone can do a tradional 9-5 type of job. Everyone's circumstance is different. So business owners and freelancers should have a right to be an IC if THEY WANT TO. BUT KEEP THE UNIONS OUT OF IT.
