These alternate timelines are exactly what all the stories in the millions of games SHOULD be, but no, instead we get to fight Raditz for the millionth fucking time.
Well, the Movies and GT are the same timeline. Go watch the Super 17 Arc. When the news on the TV shows villains attacking the city from Hell, you see Cooler in the crowd, thus canonizing the movies.
@@Kaptain_Wario ok I will admit you are right. At least the Cooler movies. And going a bit farther into that Vegeta knowing the Fusion Dance could link up Fusion Reborn. And Wrath of the Dragon could link up to GT as well considering in GT Trunks has the same sword he got at the end of the movie. The other movies though I’m not sure.
One of the movie timelines stops after Lord Slug anyways since the Cooler movies basically demand the events on Namek play out as they did in the show whereas the timeline up until Lord Slug demands it must have played out differently, mainly with Piccolo surviving the saiyan invasion arc.
11:32 There is a huge correction here. In this timeline the show and manga state Cell states that Trunks had turned off the androids using the remote. This means that it isn't necessarily a Trunks that went through the Time Chamber Training, especially if it was then there is no way Cell could have sneaked up on him. Cell even said that the Trunks he took out was weaker.
@@MrShaiya96while this is true, this also opens the following question: So Cell didnt change the date of the time machine, yet he still arrives before the Androids are awakened. Why would Trunks go there? He already warned the Z fighters about the androids
The trunks killed by cell was actually the 3rd trip into the past. Trunks was going back to tell him the z fighters how to beat the androids so that implies multiple timelines can connect to multiple different timelines.
@@doppiovinegaro3525 it had already been confirmed that the future trunks that we first see is not the same trunks that meets the Z fighters 3 years later.
I seem to recall in DragonBall xenoverse there was mentioned that the time-line split actually happened because of a flaw in the time machine method/design. This was "fixed" so timeliness could no longer split when the time machines were used to handle time fragments (parralel quests) that spawned from fixing the time-line in the scrolls of eternity. Even tough it is not cannonical to the anime/manga ot is something interesting to take note of.
When was this I've dedicated myself to completing the entire story and all side story's and events but haven't seen this mentioned I want to know if I missed something or forget?
That makes no sense. The time machine was creating an entirely other universe and then traveling there but further back in time? That's pretty nonsensical.

Keep up the amazing work. Your theories really made me think and I can't wait to hear them again and more. You'll overcome this one dude!!! You got this.
I have a few theories on how the time rings can be correct, though they are a bit shaky and require some fan-justification Theory 1: Changing the date only severs the link if you change it to be earlier than what you already have it set to, this allows timeline 4 and 7 to not be neccesary 7 - 2 = 5, which matches the number of time rings, this would track considering the time rings don't split reality as they only allow you to go forward in time. Theory 2: The whole gods killing eachother thing doesn't break time, what happened is the timeline already split when Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks learned about their timeline's future, splitting it into a reality where Zamasu enacted his plan, and one where Zamasu got hakai'd by beerus, under this assumption, Beerus was not responsible in any capacity for the creation of another timeline, and it had already happened by the time beerus went to destroy Zamasu. So what we have with this logic is Theory 3: The time ring prevented Zamasu's future from being aborted, this is the direct cause of the timeline split that created timeline 6. Timeline 1: Cell's Origin Timeline (Timeline 1) Timeline 2: Future Trunks Timeline (Timeline 2) (Theory 2 Dictates that this timeline doesn't get split 12 times) Timeline 3: Original Present Timeline (Timeline 4) (Theory 1 Prevents another split here) Timeline 4: Cell's Perfect Timeline (Timeline 5) (Theory 1 would not prevent any split here as Cell & Trunks are seperate time travellers in seperate time machines) Timeline 5: Dragon Ball Z/Black Timeline ("Aborted" Timeline 8) (Theory 1 Prevents another split here, Theory 3 prevents this timeline getting aborted) Timeline 6: Dragon Ball Super timeline (Timeline 8) (Theory 2 Dictates that this timeline doesn't get aborted) EDIT: I'm assuming Trunks coming back during the Goku black arc is a return trip to an already linked timeline.
I see dragon ball super and dragon ball gt as two timelines that were the result of universe 12s time travel thus creating the first timeline split ( the rest of the events are exactly the same upto the defeat of Majin buu) then we have bulmas time machine and trunks time traveling creating more splits within these split time lines
I would like to add 2 more actually Gt timeline : where either shin died and beerus never woke up { but this also a buyback theory Where Goku never got revived by old Kai so this theory denies it) Second beerus never woke up or he slept just enough time so that he wakes up after Goku goes with shenron (and Vegeta kinda retires idk like I haven't seen gt and other sagas except last one really don't matter ) Time line 10:::: the DBZ movies saga Where Basically some random trunks from a universe where it really stayed same (excluding dbs broly and super hero happens they don't ) It could also be another way of gt timeline but idk
The thing is timeline 4 didn’t happen, because trunks DID wait 3 years to go back, that’s why the Z fighters Recognize him! And even though this is technically the original and unseen timeline and not the Main and HOT (history of trunks) timeline we can assume that the original and HOT trunks would behave the same way
Actually he didn't, he simply uses his time machine to go 3 years later but for him it was like a week later, or else we would've seen trunks be 20 when he returned and yet he was still 17 and turns 18 when he trains with vegeta in the time chamber
Actually, no. If memory serves me, Trunks explains to Goku on his original trip to the past that it will take him six months to get the machine fueled for another round trip. He then proceeds to say that he'll join them again on the day the Androids show up "if I'm still alive." So, no. Trunks did NOT wait three years to make a return trip. He did however have to wait six months just to be able to do it.
So odds are, what Whis did was take a more nuaced approach involving the God-on-God violence to take things in a direction to prevent the infinite loops. Beerus likely just did it wrong, or the infinite loop thing/timeline thing is just to ward off God-on-God violence, because that actually sounds like a viable defensive measure.
This is purely incredible, I had myself asking where Trunk's timeline sits at a stupid time in the morning, I wrote it down and went back to sleep. Upon finding your video my mind has been obliterated with the amount of work that went into this. I am thankful but still none the wiser but knowing now of how many "possible" timelines has only left me with more questions. Thank you for breaking this down more than DB ever did.
Uhh, no. The DBS manga is the one Toriyama considered as the OFFICIAL continuation of his original story. Even Broly and Super Hero movies are more in line with the manga than they are with the anime. @@captainswagger2838
When it comes to zamasu and goku black, I think they went on a cathartic rampage and that's why they destroyed the mortal population themselves instead of using the dragon to do it.
Given that planet-busting can be done with a flick of a finger in this series, them giving Earth special attention due to it being Goku's homeworld and the source of time travel makes sense. There is absolutely *no* reason for them to be taking so much time with it other than "Because they want to". Trunks was in no position to stop them at the start so it wasn't like they *needed* him dead to pop the Earth like a balloon.
@@manwithaplan5503 "Earth invented time travel beforehand" also explains the entire weird-planet thing Earth has going on. We have no evidence that anyone ever used the Dragon Balls to resurrect dinosaurs or make dogs rule the world, but that sounds exactly like what humans inventing time travel world do.
I think they began to think about the implications of their time travels and it drove them insane. Manually murdering mortals was just a coping mechanism. And yes, I am writing this in the far future of your original comment
Brilliant video. Bottom line is it becomes incredibly difficult not to explain it away into infinite universes. Even future trunks says (in super) that a different amount of time has passed in his timeline- likely indicating to us that this is a different future trunks and that we deal with a different future trunks every single time he uses the machine.
I think your correct because because the trunks in super was the same trunks but different at same time. It could easily be trunks from android 13 or Bojack saga even thou it not cannon it's showing a different timelines trunks .from Brolly,Bojack, trunks.movies means some event did not happen
My personal headcanon as to why there are only 5 Time rings present (6 after Zamasu's death) is actually Xenoverse/Super Dragon Ball heroes/The Time Patrol. The Time Patrol and the Supreme Kai of Time's job are to "Weed" alternate timelines down and adjust them to a point where they can be self-consistent with relation to each other. This likely has something to do with the Time Scrolls and Toki Toki in how it is regulated, but the result is that whenever a timeline that is extraneous is born, Chronoa or the Time Patrol arrive and "reset" the timeline TVA-Style and maybe pick up allies from the timeline to join the Time Patrol, thus why we have Xeno Trunks and the Xeno GT versions of characters. So with this assumption the 6 time rings at the end of the Goku Black arc are the result of Chronoa and the Time Patrol doing timeline spring cleaning of the Goku Black arc in order to keep things in line. These 6 timelines likely are. Timeline 1 (The Main Timeline) Timeline 2 (The History of Trunks Timeline, erased then recreated with a timeline that takes its place with an extra Trunks and Mai in tow) Timeline 3 (Cell's Timeline) Timeline 4 (The Unseen Timeline, aka a timeline where Trunks arrives and helps Goku and pals out with no intervention from Cell) Timeline 5 ( Universe 12 Time Machine Timeline, this timeline and Timeline 2 are conjoined as they are the two timelines with the U12 TIme machine as Infinite Zamasu in the manga stated that he found the U12 Time machine within Timeline 2, so Timeline 2 was split off of this incident) Timeline 6 (Goku Black's *revised* Birth, with the Time Patrol and Chronoa making sure that the offshoot Goku Black from this timeline heads to Timeline 2 and properly becomes the genesis point of Goku Black in future occurrences of the loop as any potential timeline that would be offshoot in repeat loops are self-contained and erased, leaving space for a new timeline 6 to appear) Excess timelines born from improperly done return trips or first entering of timelines are erased by the Time Patrol, with the order of events being -Timeline 5 splits off timeline 2 -Timeline 3 continues from timeline 5 until Trunks travels back in time to make TImeline 4 -The link between Timeline 3 and 4 is locked in place by the time Patrol so Trunks does hop between the two timelines. -Trunks is killed by Cell and cell takes his time machine to go to make Timeline 1 -Timeline 2's version of Trunks is guided to Timeline 1 either via how many timeline wounds there are throwing his time machine off course, or by the intervention of the Time Patrol. -Timeline 1 and 2 are linked now and stay linked. -Zamasu steals Goku's body after an unknown period of time in Timeline 1, becoming Goku Black heading over to Timeline 2 to recruit his counterpart there -Trunks heads back to timeline 1 either via the lock-on tech Pilaf suggested or aid of the Time Patrol, this doesn't split the timeline likely due to the Time Patrol. -The events of the Goku Black arc play out normally as Goku Black is self-consistent still due to his time ring. -Beerus kills Zamasu, due to Timeline 1's future counterpart as Goku Black having his time ring on, it splits the timeline, birthing timeline 6 and erasing the future that would result in Timeline 1's Goku Black. (Calling the erased Future Timeline 1B) -Timeline 6 Zamasu proceeds to reenact the events of Timeline 1B Zamasu, taking Goku's body and heading to Timeline 2 -Goku Black from Timeline 1/1B is actually erased as Beerus stated, but is replaced by the unintended Timeline 6 counterpart, thus solving that apparent paradox. -Timeline 2 is erased by Zeno, destroying the time ring of that universe, only to be recreated by Whis time-traveling one more time, offshoot timelines born from this incident are handled and surpassed by the Time Patrol.

@@suiyeethepinkunicorn7780 well, GT is after Goku retires so, after Super. if you want to count it as canon since it was entirely an anime, not written by Toriyama, but entirely different people so at that point either A. Pan is a teenager now, Uub is under Goku's wings (we know Uub is canon to Super btw). also, i believe GT Trunks is Kid Trunks, meaning that Future Trunks is just chilling with his double
So I thought it was pretty well explained that once there's a link between the two timelines that's it. They can go between the two without creating a new timeline. Here's how I've always seen it. Timeline 1 is where Cell comes from. Timeline 2 follows the main timeline we see except Cell doesn't show up, so Trunks and Vegeta probably kill the androids after getting out of the time chamber, leaving Trunks to go back to timeline 1 where he gets killed. Timeline 3 is where Cell shows up, and is defeated by Gohan. Now Trunks goes off back to what would be timeline 1 but because of knowledge he didn't have before Cell created timeline 3, Trunks prevents his own death creating timeline 4, where Buu isn't released, he learns super saiyan 2 after seeing the supreme Kai die, and eventually Goku Black shows up because in timeline 5, an alternate to timeline 3, the guy that's trained by Gowasu uses the super dragon balls to become Black, kill Goku's family, and decides to hop between timelines and terrorizes Future Trunks world. I don't think Whis restoring Trunks world created or eliminated everything so we're at 5 timelines for the main heroes. And if you follow the games and the time patrol stuff then we're around 6 if you just want to shove all of GT and the movies into one section.
I'm pretty sure the timeline stuff was explained pretty succinctly with Dragon Ball Super, with time travel creating branching timelines. Each one has its own Time Ring, to help show just how many timelines there are. And, normally, the Kais and the Gods of Destruction can make alterations without creating a new branch... but that was NOT the case with Black since, at the time, he was wearing the Time Ring, meaning that he was basically immune to changes in the timeline, meaning that his existence simply became another branching path instead of him being retconned out of possibility. This fits with Whis' actions in order to make sure Future Trunks could go back home to his 'timeline', even if things would be vastly different.
@@LordTyph I thought I remember seeing that Goku Black only survived because he wore the time ring and because of Beerus’s intervention that timeline where he killed Chichi and Goten was “aborted”. Goku Black basically exists outside of “time and space”, a paradox of some sort. I wonder what would’ve happened if somehow his ring got removed, would he just blip out of existence? The anime did seem to imply heavily that the ring was the reason he still existed like you mentioned. Unfortunately that also brings into question of their ethereal form they took when Future Trunks used his spirit sword. You could say that the mortal Goku Black was finally killed with the spirit sword and the ethereal form was just the immortal Zamasu. In the end I don’t understand why the arc ended how it did with a Future Mai and Future Trunks that exist as survivors of a completely annihilated timeline/ multiverse. Perhaps it may have been better to basically have Zeno intervene and destroy Goku Black since the very beginning before he killed Gowasu. Basically the story never happened at all but we as the viewers know it happened, heck Goku and friends could’ve been allowed to know what happened. But I guess either the editors or Toriyama wanted to make a leeway to make Time Patrol Trunks happen should they ever want to do so.

Awesome video bro. I just came across you channel and I love the content. To see you that dedicated and break down every possible scenario is amazing and you definitely deserve a lot of credit for the time taking to make this video.
One alteration I'd make to your video: The Trunks from Timeline 1 that wound up in timeline 4 likely never went into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to train. What had been theorized to have happened is that he found the Android blueprints in Gero's lab and Bulma created the device to shut them down, which he used in his timeline. I say this because had he gone into the HTC he would have been more than powerful enough to kill Cell like we saw in the anime even if he were ambushed.
I say there’s 7 Timelines 1.5th Timeline: Universe 12s split timeline where the 1st Time Machine is made and destroyed (also the Universe 12 Time Machine is also destroyed) 1st Timeline: Universe 12s original timeline which has The timeline where Cell kills 1st Future Trunks and goes back in time 2nd Timeline: The timeline where 1st Future Trunks gives Goku the Heart Virus Medicine 3rd Timeline: Our Future Trunks’s timeline 4th Timeline: The (So-called) Main timeline where the Cell Saga and everything until the GB Saga and then Future Present Zamasu goes 1 year ahead with the Time Ring and steals Goku’s Body then goes back to the Future Present and then hops to the 3rd Timeline 5th Timeline: after Future Trunks goes back in time in the Main Timeline by mistake in an attempt to get help from the past to stop Goku Black and Beerus erases Zamasu stopping the second Goku Black creation 6th Timeline: Future Trunks and Mai’s new timeline where they live with themselves Edit: 7th Timeline DBGT lol

Nice tackle I'm a very big time-travel nerd and have been analyzing so many my whole life. New mindsets ahdm perspectives have lead to various disgrams for several franchises. Writers for time travel very rarely get all their ducks in a row. The multi-timelines and doorway mechanic is one of most solid out there. It counters most paradoxes. There are some specific mechanics that need decided and certainly some for the base story narrative. Info-dumps of super complex concepts are hard to fight in. Especially when your base story and audience is all about "punchy-fighty beat em up" arcs. The "infinite spaghetti", as I call it, is a tricky one to fix or gloss over and ignore. There certainly were more timelines rendered by all the old Z setting. Fitting them in narratively def is a passing issue even if they were thought of. A mechanic I considered Trunks to have is a "history / destination" log in the time machine. Allowing for a revisiting of a past location. Basically reopening of the doorway. But as for my normal models, any revisit to a past does spawn a new branch. I personally have thought about a whole channel discussing all this and for each franchise. I'm def open to compare models. :)
So fun fact: there WAS a time travel event when Zamasu killed his master. That was Whis' do-over ability. Even though it was just the 5 seconds, they traveled back and made a change in those 5 seconds. So now we have to add on a timeline break for every time Whis has used this ability in the cannon! That's an extra 2 at a minimum, as he alludes to using it from before the Golden Freeza arc and ALSO uses it DURING the Golden Freeza arc! So it's not that gods killing gods creates new timelines, it's that Whis is just using Beerus as a scapegoat for his own misdeeds
You have it all wrong lol. Temporal do over does not go back in the past, it literally REWINDS time, meaning Whis’s ability fully rewinds time as if it never happened. I’m sure grand minister it took extra precaution to give angels this ability, I’m sure he was smart enough to prevent more timelines appearing lol
@@moeej6809 This is never specified as being the case. I'm inclined to think you are correct. It would make sense that given time branches are considered aberrations, the ability to lop off undesirable chronological outcomes would be totally consistent with the role of an angel.
A plausible plug for that green ring pot hole is; a ring exists for every timeline that directly connects to the timeline in which the rings exist. Thus, as there is 5 rings, that means that 5 other timelines have interacted with the one in which we see the 'main timeline' take place. It is entirely possible that in the future trunks timeline there are more green rings that exist, due to more timelines interacting with that one. This allows for the theoretical infinite timelines concept.
My theory is that one of those timelines eventually led up to trunks being recruited as a time patroller by chronoa and since then they have been working to fix all the timeline mess created by the time machine in different points of time, with the green time rings being just the more recent ones they haven't tackled yet, or the ones created by god's mistakes like what Beerus did, which she's probably not allowed to mess with
13:30 here's the part where I think you got some stuff wrong. When Imperfect Cell went back in time in Timeline 5 he probably had to have gotten killed by the Androids. The Androids had already killed so many people meaning Cell couldn't absorb enough power so when he attempted to absorb the Androids he probably ended up getting Clapped by Android 16. The Androids still ruin the timeline so the Trunks from Timeline 5 goes to Timeline 6 and the same Trunks goes 3 extra years into the future to create Timeline 7. Because Imperfect Cell from Timeline 1 had gone to Timeline 5 and the Future Trunks from Timeline 5 created Timelines 6 and 7; then that means there would be a new version of Imperfect Cell in Timelines 6 and 7, almost as if he was cloned due to time travel. Future Trunks wasn't the one without a home timeline. It was these 2 different versions of Timeline 1 Cell. This version of Cell believes he's from Timeline 1 but actually doesn't have a home timeline. Hopefully this makes sense.

He also says he already defeated boo he says in black storyline
idk anymore it just doesn't make sense cause the trunks from history of trunks came back to where Android 19's head was blown up by Vegeta's big bang attack instead of that one timeline you talked about where Goku is already dead from the virus
the thing is.. 17 and 18 arrived so late in the present/main timeline where it matches Trunk's 3 year return and Goku's late heart virus so everything in the present comes late because trunks created a new timeline
But beerus said when gods destroy someone they completely destroy them in drangon ball super so if the man who original created time travel device was killed by a god of destruction of some one like that wouldn't it mean he was completely destroyed including the alternate timeline versions of him
@@joster6268but in that alternate time line zamasu had surpassed beerus power and the only one who could bring him down was the omni king. he also killed the supreme kai of his universe and replaced him making himself a supreme kai (god of creation). And because he's a supreme kai his life is tied to the new god of destruction who would probably not let him die. So i don't think zamasu' situation is comparable.
@Ethan Kellerman no they don’t Goku Black was just lacking the knowledge of the Time Rings Beerus just wanted Trunks to F Off from his timeline and everyone else was just Gullible enough to believe him
@DatrixTSW2012 Whis is wrong Future Trunks made that Timeline when he traveled back in time since he accidentally went back almost a year to before Zamasu started his 0 Mortal Plan
Wasn’t it stated that the Trunks from the timeline Cell came from, stopped the androids by using the shutdown controller or whatever? He never went through all the training and fought them, he just turned them off or whatever. That’s why he wasn’t strong enough to stop Cell.
He also didn’t mention cells timeline had a future trunks in it that killed the frieza in that timeline meaning cells timeline can’t be the original at best it can be the 2nd oldest timeline or first divergence. If anything it’s that trunks who traveled to cells timeline who has the original timeline
Not finished yet, but I’ve gotta say: your idea of timeline 7 being the origins of Goku Black makes SO much more sense than the canon explanation. It’s still kinda convoluted, but it works so much better than “time ring makes me immune to having my past changed.”
It's stated by Trunks in the manga that it takes time for the time machine to get enough fuel to travel. So Trunks likely did wait and not make a 4th timeline. The whole idea of time travel is confusing when you focus on all the details. But your theory of *TM1* Trunks going to *TM3* [the DB we know about] and thus making a link between those timelines seems to be legitimate. So lets go from there. If the *TM1* time machine created a link to *TM3,* then it wouldn't matter that *TM1* Trunks went back to his time and chose a later date. Because they are already linked. I can't speculate if the link is due to a program that Bulma may have created, or if it was a natural outcome of the initial time travel. But either way, it seems to be the case because Trunks waited until he had enough fuel to do it again. Perhaps he waited for 3 years. I believe that to be the case, because in the manga, before he left, Goku asked if they will meet again. Trunks says something to the effect of "not sure. It takes a lot of time to gather fuel for a round trip in the time machine. If I'm still alive, I'll help in 3 years." Imperfect Cell wouldn't be strong enough to kill Trunks after going into the room of spirit and time. The Trunks that was killed would have had to be one that didn't use that room. We know this because that Cell, in his stronger semi-perfect form, was beaten by a Trunks who only used the room once at that point in the series. I re-read the VIZ translation of the manga and watched the subbed episode where Cell is explaining to Piccolo how he got there. It seems Cell didn't travel back 4 years like many people think. He traveled back 3 years. And (thanks to plot) it only takes him 3 years to mature from his egg form to the form he took while fighting Piccolo. At the same time this is contradicted by Trunks because he says the old time machine arrived 1 whole year before he got there and it came from 3 years after he left to the past. Damn it, Toriyama! I'll admit that I'm not completely familiar with Super as I am with Z but are the different universes interchangeable to timelines? I think I missed that explanation in the series. From what I know of the Black saga, whatever timeline future Trunks is in, that timeline has 12 universes. And Black killed the 12 kais in those timeline locked universes. What smells like copper?
I agree with this theory more than the video. I believe Trunks does wait before going back and that the timelines are just linked somehow. And that’s what Toriyama intended so I’m happy to go with that. But as a Z stan I won’t even begin to conjecture about Super since nothing about that series has proper incentive to be canonically consistent after 20+ years. It’s fan service imo. Krillin took on an SSGSS Kamehameha. I’m not interested.
A few problems with this: 1. Someone in the comments below stated that Trunks legitimately waited 3 Years before Going Back to Timeline 3. This makes the Total Amount of Timelines to 7 as this happens twice. 2. When Beerus erases Zamasu out of existence it causes a new timeline due to the fact that he had obtained new information through a time traveling Goku and Vegeta, which wouldn't have been known otherwise. In the Timeline Zamasu Doesn't Get Erased but Goku and Vegeta does time travel in he is more than likely the Goku Black who somehow survived the time paradox, thus allowing the continuation of his existence, as Beerus was 100% sure that he got rid of Zamasu, not expecting that another timeline Goku Black could exist and repeat everything and not get erased.
1: trunks didn't wait 3 years, that would've made him 20 when he came back, which doesn't work (he ages in the time chamber and comes out taller, and people don't keep growing into their 20s, including saiyans). 2 edit: originally i said Beerus didn't create a new timeline when he erased Zamasu, but the manga and anime explicitly say he did. oopsies. bad writing :(
Corn boi Whis directly states Beerus created a new timeline too when he destroyed Zamasu. Of course he did, the original timeline from that part of the story would have ended up with Zamasu stealing Goku’s body, killing him and going to Trunks’ timeline, continuing the time loop. How Beerus was able to break the timeloop in our timeline is a plothole, because everything that happened in our timeline should have happened originally as well; in Black’s timeline it seems like Goku and Beerus just stopped investigating Black’s mystery for whatever reason, and Trunks just went home or something, which is why Zamasu had a chance to steal Goku’s body and Goku was just farming again when the body swap happened. That doesn’t make sense though obviously because there was no changing factor in our timeline as to why Beerus killed Zamasu in our timeline but not in Black’s. They screwed up
I try not to think about the story too much I just watch the cool fight sequences and enjoy the ride. This video has validated my stance on this yet again.
You can change the date without severing the link so long as it is any time after your original visit. Trunks creates one new timeline when he kills Frieza and Cold and then returns to it. Cell then makes a new one when he goes farther back then Trunks did. Because of this everything with your timeline 3 model is off. I'm glad that people still try to figure stuff like this out though!
I’m still upset that Future Trunks and Future Mai didn’t stay in our Super timeline, what difference would it make since another version of themselves already exists in their new current timeline? We were robbed
Idk what to think. I really love your ideas and how you wanna explain this. But maybe you should get with quaman he is another dragontuber that did a timeline explanation. It would be nice to see that.
11:30 is never mention that Cell changed the time machine date. When Picoolo asked him why did he selected this timeline he simple answered that he did not know, the machine was already set up to appear on his era.
@@QuickPlaysHD Yeah, and despite who Cell is, I wouldn't say it is in his nature to lie about such a thing... So it really doesn't make sense... Could be that because there was already a time machine in that exact time already and Trunks didn't realize he should change the time. Maybe the machine automatically goes back a bit of time to as a glitchy fix... I guess?
@3:13 there's also Towa and the Supreme Kai of Time [cronoa] [both of which use magic to travel via timelines, scrolls for kai, dark/deamon magjc for towa and mira]
I like the unintended conclusion you draw that if Future Trunks had just stayed away from our timeline after the first time that everything in the main story basically would have been better off. Trunks went back again to ensure he’d made that timeline better, and instead ensured that everyone in it eventually got killed by Majin Buu. I mean, luckily, they all got wished back, but still.
At first it seemed like a Grand Fathers paradox "each new action taken in the past produces a new alternate reality/time line" now it's what we can officially call a fuster cluck.
I was using that theory to try and figure this out, and I actually thought I solved it. But I forgot the minor detail of Goku having to fight Zamasu for Zamasu to become Goku Black, which wouldn't have happened if Trunks didn't already travel back in time to ask for help to beat Goku black who randomly appeared in his future. This shit makes no fucking sense...
That's also not counting GT Trunks. It would be cool if all three versions of Trunks were to meet each other. Kid Trunks, Future Trunks and GT Trunks could meet and they could fuse into one person. This Trunks would have all of the memories of all three timelines.
Just one last thing This is the reason Why There over infinite timelines to the point of rick and morty different dimesions/timelines maybe less then this
It's confusing because the uploader is using faulty logic. He believes a date change, whether it is past or future, is what creates a new timeline. However, as far as we have been shown, only traveling to the past is what creates a new timeline.
I always took it that changing the date you want to time-travel to only creates a new timeline when the date is earlier than that you have prievously travelled to. Therefore, Future Trunks showing up three years later after killing Freeza and King Cold would not create a new Timeline, but Cell stealing his Time Machine and arriving earlier would. I also noticed a small hole in your explanation, you said that Trunks would go into the Room of Spirit and Time and grow strong enough to defeat 17 and 18, but he was still weak enough to be killed by Imperfect Cell, plus, his appearance does not have its post-ROSAT look.
Yeah, the moment he mentioned that date change is what causes timelines to split, I knew his 25 timeline theory seemed ridiculous. From what we have seen, only traveling to the past of a timeline is what causes a timeline to split. We have never seen traveling to the future of one causing a split since time technically flowed normally without any changes to the past. The idea that 12 timelines are created by killing each Supereme Kai of Time is pretty ridiculous as well, since by his logic, the moment Future Trunks' Supreme Kai was killed, a new timeline would be created for no reason.
The video fails at that point, cell never changed the date and trunks did not train to beat his androids, he used the remote controller, and after get ambushed by cell
The first main problem you mention is that Trunks going back in time, then FORWARD in time again, creating another alternate reality. Based off of how the rings vs time machines work, isn't there the implication that traveling BACK in time creates a branched reality, but traveling FORWARD in time doesn't? For instance, if I travel travel 10 minutes into the future, there is still only one timeline: one where I disappear and reappear 10 minutes later. There is no alternate timeline where I never got into the machine, and did not reappear in 10 minutes. To create THAT branched reality, I'd have to go back in time AFTERWARDS to go and stop myself from getting into the time machine.
No Going in to the Future in a Multiverse Theory timeline just makes a new Timeline as well since time can’t be rewritten it would just make a new Timeline where you were not around
There's clearly another set of timelines where Trunks was born with blue hair, rather than purple. So Super's future Trunks can't be the same as timeline 1 or 2 future Trunks.
It's the modernized versions of Present Trunks and Future Trunks for the Dragon Ball Super continuities. So for Super's continuities only, the blue-haired Future Trunks is still from "Timeline 1" and "Timeline 2." As well as the tons of DBS-based timelines in the Super Dragon Ball Heroes continuities.
When it comes to Whis, I think something fishy is happening with HIM and no his powers. Bear with me on this. Whis seems to have a deep understanding of ultra instinct, a form said to grant autonomous movement to the point it can predict and dodge/counter future moves the moment the body can recognize an attack. I believe he is living about three minutes in the past with an ultra instinct strong enough to pull that off. His temporal do-overs are really just him pulling off ultra sick ultra instinct, and he has, to some extent, the ability to grant this ability to others. Thus in Resurrection F, Whis didn't stop Frieza's attack from killing Goku & Co., he gave them enough foresight so he can convince Goku to finish the job. Now, this is involving a story after evidence for came out, but headcannon is a bitch.
@@dreamcream3738 Kinda kills all tension in a franchise when the only sane man of the squad is also the cosmic do-over button. The thing that made King Kai and the Supreme Kai work was that they were as phenomenal as they were absolutely useless. Literally all they can do is give instruction or inverse-anal in the case of GT. The thing that made Goku disposing of Cell on King Kai's planet good was that that line of thinking hadn't been used in the series before.
@@PosthumanHeresy A cosmic do-over button that isn't allowed to do so willy-nilly, and can only act with the approval of his God of Destruction. I thought that there was five timelines because of the regular timeline, future, Cells timeline where he kill trunks first, Zamasu Timeline, and then the timeline where Freitas blows up earth in RoF
Now I know what I'm missing for Xenoverse 3 (and why we may never get it): - Instead of revisiting the events of X1 like X2 did for the most part, you're staged to address the Temporal Seams that the Breaker Civilians are currently handling and being trapped in. -- The alternate branching timelines that have blossomed due to time-travel will be the explored scenarios that have more story fleshed out, rather than being reduced to mere Quests you get graded for. --- We potentially have the ground to explore an entirely different arc, due to these Seams' issues. ---- It can also be assumed that the Seams are a result of trying to over-correct these tears and changes in reality, which is why people across the multiverse are being independently being sucked into a concentrated point involving a Raider, whose presence demanded the creation of a time-machine in the first place. I know this is a bit of a convenient stretch, but considering time-travel is now one of the biggest behind-the-scenes factors that drives the creation of more Dragonball content, I'd certainly prefer to have something that 'branches off' from X1/X2 rather than going through all of those events for a third goddang time.
@SlappyTheClappy Sorry, to clarify, I mean travel like Trunks' second trip to the timeline. For example, the link want fully established between his timeline and the new one, so he was able to kinda use that same bridge but change the date he came out of by a couple years since the dates were relatively close and the rip in the space time continuum is also relatively new.
@@Kyleand3rror Then the story could not have happened the way it did as you would need to somehow have 2 trunks in the same timeline, one to die to Cell and one to travel forward in time to fight Cell.
I always just figured that if you time travel to a date after the most recent time travel that happened in your timeline, you would end up in the same timeline without causing a new split, while if you go to a date before the most recent time travel, you still would go back to the same timeline, but you'd cause a new split (and depending on certain circumstances, a split in your own timeline as well), and the new timeline that you appeared in would now be the one you travel to, with any time travelers that appeared in that timeline after you coming from any timeline that split off from your own. It made sense to me, anyway. As for the aborted futures... yeah, I got no fricking clue. However, I will say, I think the reason why Beerus killing Zamasu created a new timeline was simply because it was simply a change in history, even if Trunks didn't directly cause it.
I know it’s a year late but yeah that’s it, a new timeline isn’t created just by travelling back in time it’s only created when a change in history is made it creates a paradox example, future trunks coming to timeline 1 during the goku black arc doesn’t do anything it’s only when beerus hakai’s zamasu that’s it creates a paradox and so a new timeline is created timeline 6 which is where zamasu is alive and successfully becomes goku black
These alternate timelines are exactly what all the stories in the millions of games SHOULD be, but no, instead we get to fight Raditz for the millionth fucking time.
Lets say timeline 3 is the timeline with the movies while timeline four is GT’s timeline. It makes as much sense as the infinite loops
Well, the Movies and GT are the same timeline.
Go watch the Super 17 Arc. When the news on the TV shows villains attacking the city from Hell, you see Cooler in the crowd, thus canonizing the movies.
@@Kaptain_Wario that's exactly what I was saying.

I have a few theories on how the time rings can be correct, though they are a bit shaky and require some fan-justification
Theory 1: Changing the date only severs the link if you change it to be earlier than what you already have it set to, this allows timeline 4 and 7 to not be neccesary 7 - 2 = 5, which matches the number of time rings, this would track considering the time rings don't split reality as they only allow you to go forward in time.
So what we have with this logic is
Theory 3: The time ring prevented Zamasu's future from being aborted, this is the direct cause of the timeline split that created timeline 6.
Timeline 1: Cell's Origin Timeline (Timeline 1)
Timeline 2: Future Trunks Timeline (Timeline 2) (Theory 2 Dictates that this timeline doesn't get split 12 times)
Timeline 3: Original Present Timeline (Timeline 4) (Theory 1 Prevents another split here)
Timeline 4: Cell's Perfect Timeline (Timeline 5) (Theory 1 would not prevent any split here as Cell & Trunks are seperate time travellers in seperate time machines)
Timeline 5: Dragon Ball Z/Black Timeline ("Aborted" Timeline 8) (Theory 1 Prevents another split here, Theory 3 prevents this timeline getting aborted)
Timeline 6: Dragon Ball Super timeline (Timeline 8) (Theory 2 Dictates that this timeline doesn't get aborted)
EDIT: I'm assuming Trunks coming back during the Goku black arc is a return trip to an already linked timeline.
exactly what i was thinking
I see dragon ball super and dragon ball gt as two timelines that were the result of universe 12s time travel thus creating the first timeline split ( the rest of the events are exactly the same upto the defeat of Majin buu) then we have bulmas time machine and trunks time traveling creating more splits within these split time lines
I would like to add 2 more actually
Gt timeline : where either shin died and beerus never woke up { but this also a buyback theory Where Goku never got revived by old Kai so this theory denies it)
Second beerus never woke up or he slept just enough time so that he wakes up after Goku goes with shenron (and Vegeta kinda retires idk like I haven't seen gt and other sagas except last one really don't matter )
Time line 10:::: the DBZ movies saga
Where Basically some random trunks from a universe where it really stayed same (excluding dbs broly and super hero happens they don't )
It could also be another way of gt timeline but idk
The thing is timeline 4 didn’t happen, because trunks DID wait 3 years to go back, that’s why the Z fighters Recognize him! And even though this is technically the original and unseen timeline and not the Main and HOT (history of trunks) timeline we can assume that the original and HOT trunks would behave the same way
And because of that trunks curious on how the timeline era's will play and that is the born of the time patrol in the game
Actually he didn't, he simply uses his time machine to go 3 years later but for him it was like a week later, or else we would've seen trunks be 20 when he returned and yet he was still 17 and turns 18 when he trains with vegeta in the time chamber
Evidence to back up your claim?
“Hot Trunks” 💀
Actually, no.
If memory serves me, Trunks explains to Goku on his original trip to the past that it will take him six months to get the machine fueled for another round trip. He then proceeds to say that he'll join them again on the day the Androids show up "if I'm still alive."
So, no. Trunks did NOT wait three years to make a return trip. He did however have to wait six months just to be able to do it.
Take a year for fuel.so he must of left after a year to another date

“Wasn’t it cool that one time trunks made a lightsaber out of human souls?”
*WHEN YOU PUT IT LIKE THAT-*
So odds are, what Whis did was take a more nuaced approach involving the God-on-God violence to take things in a direction to prevent the infinite loops. Beerus likely just did it wrong, or the infinite loop thing/timeline thing is just to ward off God-on-God violence, because that actually sounds like a viable defensive measure.

Brain... hurty.

Timeline 1 (The Main Timeline)
Timeline 2 (The History of Trunks Timeline, erased then recreated with a timeline that takes its place with an extra Trunks and Mai in tow)
Timeline 3 (Cell's Timeline)
Timeline 4 (The Unseen Timeline, aka a timeline where Trunks arrives and helps Goku and pals out with no intervention from Cell)
Timeline 5 ( Universe 12 Time Machine Timeline, this timeline and Timeline 2 are conjoined as they are the two timelines with the U12 TIme machine as Infinite Zamasu in the manga stated that he found the U12 Time machine within Timeline 2, so Timeline 2 was split off of this incident)
Timeline 6 (Goku Black's *revised* Birth, with the Time Patrol and Chronoa making sure that the offshoot Goku Black from this timeline heads to Timeline 2 and properly becomes the genesis point of Goku Black in future occurrences of the loop as any potential timeline that would be offshoot in repeat loops are self-contained and erased, leaving space for a new timeline 6 to appear)
Excess timelines born from improperly done return trips or first entering of timelines are erased by the Time Patrol, with the order of events being
-Timeline 5 splits off timeline 2
-Timeline 3 continues from timeline 5 until Trunks travels back in time to make TImeline 4
-The link between Timeline 3 and 4 is locked in place by the time Patrol so Trunks does hop between the two timelines.
-Trunks is killed by Cell and cell takes his time machine to go to make Timeline 1
-Timeline 2's version of Trunks is guided to Timeline 1 either via how many timeline wounds there are throwing his time machine off course, or by the intervention of the Time Patrol.
-Timeline 1 and 2 are linked now and stay linked.
-Zamasu steals Goku's body after an unknown period of time in Timeline 1, becoming Goku Black heading over to Timeline 2 to recruit his counterpart there
-Trunks heads back to timeline 1 either via the lock-on tech Pilaf suggested or aid of the Time Patrol, this doesn't split the timeline likely due to the Time Patrol.
(Calling the erased Future Timeline 1B)
-Timeline 6 Zamasu proceeds to reenact the events of Timeline 1B Zamasu, taking Goku's body and heading to Timeline 2
-Goku Black from Timeline 1/1B is actually erased as Beerus stated, but is replaced by the unintended Timeline 6 counterpart, thus solving that apparent paradox.
-Timeline 2 is erased by Zeno, destroying the time ring of that universe, only to be recreated by Whis time-traveling one more time, offshoot timelines born from this incident are handled and surpassed by the Time Patrol.

@@suiyeethepinkunicorn7780 haven’t you been paying attention? GT is just another timeline in the multiverse!!
How would Trunks getting out of the Chamber lose to Imperfect Cell ?🗿

Damn so this is why the time patrol was made
One alteration I'd make to your video: The Trunks from Timeline 1 that wound up in timeline 4 likely never went into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to train. What had been theorized to have happened is that he found the Android blueprints in Gero's lab and Bulma created the device to shut them down, which he used in his timeline. I say this because had he gone into the HTC he would have been more than powerful enough to kill Cell like we saw in the anime even if he were ambushed.
I agree with this as well
Maybe there was more boxes of green time rings that we have not seen yet
These timelines are so confusing...
I say there’s 7 Timelines
1.5th Timeline: Universe 12s split timeline where the 1st Time Machine is made and destroyed (also the Universe 12 Time Machine is also destroyed)
1st Timeline: Universe 12s original timeline which has The timeline where Cell kills 1st Future Trunks and goes back in time
2nd Timeline: The timeline where 1st Future Trunks gives Goku the Heart Virus Medicine
3rd Timeline: Our Future Trunks’s timeline
4th Timeline: The (So-called) Main timeline where the Cell Saga and everything until the GB Saga and then Future Present Zamasu goes 1 year ahead with the Time Ring and steals Goku’s Body then goes back to the Future Present and then hops to the 3rd Timeline
5th Timeline: after Future Trunks goes back in time in the Main Timeline by mistake in an attempt to get help from the past to stop Goku Black and Beerus erases Zamasu stopping the second Goku Black creation
6th Timeline: Future Trunks and Mai’s new timeline where they live with themselves
Edit: 7th Timeline DBGT lol

You should see Quaman’s old timeline video, using his logic you create less loopholes and timelines
Nice tackle
I'm a very big time-travel nerd and have been analyzing so many my whole life.
meanwhile all these time travel violation happening and Chronoa is taking a nap in Time Nest....
she's more incompetent than beerus.
Kinda? She arrested Trucks for his time machine shenanigans and made him work for her.
Chronica like a damn fly compared to even krillin. Flick her away
That into 😳💥
You also forgot Buu's killing of the Compass Kais, that's some more timelines going by your logic.
No wonder the Spirit Sword technique was so powerful: there were an infinite amount of Trunks' hidden behind a bush all giving him their energy.
There was a 3rd rewind as well literally when Beerus sneezed and blew up a planet prior to Goku and Vegeta returning to earth during ressurection of F

This.
My theory is that one of those timelines eventually led up to trunks being recruited as a time patroller by chronoa and since then they have been working to fix all the timeline mess created by the time machine in different points of time, with the green time rings being just the more recent ones they haven't tackled yet, or the ones created by god's mistakes like what Beerus did, which she's probably not allowed to mess with
This type of video is the speculation I love to find on RUclips this video is an amazing and I hope you do more

Wow, great research/theories. This must have taken some time to write up!
Goku blAck shit is unsolvable
And that still leaves us with 7 timelines
@@alexisislas-gonzalez5991 Not trying to fix the "7 Timelines" stuff. Just tryna make the whole Cell Time Travel thing in the Original Anime/Manga actually make sense.
Great video you explained everything in a easy to understand manner
Trunks never travels through time -
What he does and did is a dimensional jump .
Thinks sideways rather than front- back .
He states this when Berus and who’s take goku to universe kami from goku black universe.
When he goes back to defeat the androids he is still alone .
But beerus said when gods destroy someone they completely destroy them in drangon ball super so if the man who original created time travel device was killed by a god of destruction of some one like that wouldn't it mean he was completely destroyed including the alternate timeline versions of him
No as beerus destroyed zamasu but the alternate version was still alive
@@joster6268but in that alternate time line zamasu had surpassed beerus power and the only one who could bring him down was the omni king. he also killed the supreme kai of his universe and replaced him making himself a supreme kai (god of creation). @Ethan Kellerman no they don’t Goku Black was just lacking the knowledge of the Time Rings Beerus just wanted Trunks to F Off from his timeline and everyone else was just Gullible enough to believe him

I just guessed cell supressed himself and absorbed trunks
@@johannessguten2527 Came back to this after two years, and I'm glad to see someone else mention it! I've already made a comment about it! 😹
Idk if all this is possible since I don't know enough about the hypothetical physics of time travel but this gives some thought.
If I'm still alive, I'll help in 3 years."
Imperfect Cell wouldn't be strong enough to kill Trunks after going into the room of spirit and time.
It is somewhat like loop
I agree with this theory more than the video. I believe Trunks does wait before going back and that the timelines are just linked somehow. And that’s what Toriyama intended so I’m happy to go with that. But as a Z stan I won’t even begin to conjecture about Super since nothing about that series has proper incentive to be canonically consistent after 20+ years. It’s fan service imo. Krillin took on an SSGSS Kamehameha. I’m not interested.
I feel like even you don't understand time travel and paradoxes.
A few problems with this:
2 edit: originally i said Beerus didn't create a new timeline when he erased Zamasu, but the manga and anime explicitly say he did. oopsies. bad writing :(
Corn boi
Whis directly states Beerus created a new timeline too when he destroyed Zamasu.
They screwed up
@@grydon6422 yeaa i hadn't gotten to that part of the vid yet, oops. crazy how that one line creates such a random plot hole
He didn't wait just changed date
Yea There is no way Trunks had enough fuel to go back and forth constantly
True and its one of the plot holes of that arc bc why would trunks have it set for that time.
I guess?
There are 5 time rings because those are the ones that are accesible from that timeline
@3:13 there's also Towa and the Supreme Kai of Time [cronoa]
[both of which use magic to travel via timelines, scrolls for kai, dark/deamon magjc for towa and mira]
never mind apparently it doesn't count.
So in other words… Zamasu was right.
I dont want to be a Time Patroller anymore
GT Trunks is kid Trunks, but older.

Just one last thing This is the reason Why There over infinite timelines to the point of rick and morty different dimesions/timelines maybe less then this
This is interesting and still confusing at the same time. Good video👍🏾
Wow I was interested this whole video! Thanks for making it engaging!
Is it really that hard to accept angels can warp reality to a degree?
@@dreamcream3738 Kinda kills all tension in a franchise when the only sane man of the squad is also the cosmic do-over button. I thought that there was five timelines because of the regular timeline, future, Cells timeline where he kill trunks first, Zamasu Timeline, and then the timeline where Freitas blows up earth in RoF
Time reversal does not create a nee timeline.
Now I know what I'm missing for Xenoverse 3 (and why we may never get it):
- Instead of revisiting the events of X1 like X2 did for the most part, you're staged to address the Temporal Seams that the Breaker Civilians are currently handling and being trapped in.
“The difference between writing fiction and non-fiction is, non-fiction has to make sense”

What if travel doesn't split timelines?
@SlappyTheClappy Sorry, to clarify, I mean travel like Trunks' second trip to the timeline. It does but doesn't. That's all you need to know.
THIS IS SO CONVOLUTED. ima be honest I didn't understand most of the video. But great work dude!
