My mom used to have one in Colombia years ago, the mother died and they adopted the baby, it was practically a newborn. She said that her ant eater (Katy) was the best animal she ever had, it was so lovable and adorable. She constantly tells me stories of her and now I want an anteater 😂

BTW he may smell bad because i think they have a crop like a bird and no or little stomach acid. Maybe provide a dish of formic acid. You can buy the stuff

I would never keep a wild animal as a pet. However, I have lived most of my life in Florida. In Florida, fire ants are one insect that will make a Buddhist re- think the whole philosophy . I know one young man who was so bitten up by these ants that he went into shock and is now dependent on 24/7 care because he is paralyzed. He was 24 when it happened.I wonder if they could be bred to become a domestic animal to help combat the ants- instead of pouring Amdro into the ground. Can they eat fire ants? ( Imagining having a team of anteater pets to take around as natural pest control). Of course I think he’s extremely cute and I don’t care if he’s stinky. I’m washable. Thank you for the post.
