When you thought you´ve seen every Group B clip on RUclips you find this gem. Awesome
My god! For rally fans like me this video is like gold..so happy! Pure essence of rally..the cars, the people, the atmosphere were something that today is impossible to have in rallies today! People loved all this but unfortunately this is no longer the case. Thanks for this video and the others on this channel
I also loving the sound of these legendary rally cars.
I've seen tons of rally videos, but the 205 moving the dust at 7:41 ...... Gravel specs on tarmac is always a pleasure to see. Pure rallying.
This video is absolute gold! An amazing time capsule to mid 80s rallying. No need for background music or commentary!

BRING BACK SANREMO WRC 🇮🇹
Bring back Group B and the awesome 80's rally cars.
Magari
@@redlineste4283maybe 2027 with another set of regulation changes.
Bring back group B you mean, could you imagine what these manic machines would be like now.....I think group B being as popular now as it was then would have caused F1 to have not such a big following, love those Quattro's best cars in the field in my own opinion.....I owned 2 Quattro's from '85 and '86, then stayed with audi from then
Bring Back The Tour De Corse too
So much iconic footage used in MANY rallye videos come from this event. Should be preserved forever.
It was so boring on YT this days, and this absolutely marvellous video just cure my depression.
The Golden Era of San Remo Rally 🇮🇹❤
The only victory for the Audi Quattro Sport E2, the most spectacular rally car in history !!! 💥 Thank you very much for this video 🙏 The best review I've seen of this iconic rally.
Nah, It was a 4WD understeery boat. I think best rally car in history was the Stratos, and in Group B, it was the Peugeot. Audi was great when it was the only decent 4WD on the grid.
@@mclarenf1gtr99 I agree with you. That's why I didn't say the Audi was the best car. I said it was the most spectacular car to watch, because it looked and sounded incredible!
The guy with the accordian and racing hat on top of his hat is a man of culture 👌
wow...the quality of this footage is amazing. thanks
Geil geil geil…. Top Bild - Qualität, Top Ton Qualität…. Danke für den Upload💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
4:00 Here I am to revel in Group B nostalgia and what do I find: The first time ever hearing a Finnish guy speak Italian. The accent of Markko is adorable :D
Perricoloso me parra urti ragadzino
I piloti di rally sono invincibili !!!
So much great footage here, thank you for the upload! Walter Rohrl somehow wrestling that clumsy Audi to victory over a field of Peugeots and Lancias, the Opel Mantas slipping further and further behind the pace, and an almost forgotten Group B car from that era - the Citroen Visa.
Citroen visa mille piste 💪👍
Walter had been practicing, practicing, practicing. Despite the handful of the Audi, provided the Quattro kept going, there was only going to be one winner of the event. Audi's final rally victory. I actually have an original Audi poster from this rally on a wall at home :-)
Amazing Video quality, and so fun seeing Marku Alen speaking Italian despite the Finnish cadence standing out like a sore thumb.
Markku was nicknamed 'the Italian Finn'. After so many years at Fiat and Lancia, it's no surprise that the Italian language was second nature to him!
I am quite convinced that rally Group B driver were the most skilled motorsport drivers ever. The reason is this: making a mistake cost not just their lives but possibly 20 others. Don't discount that pressure to make huge growth in skills.
I watched this with such delight. The golden age of rally and for me the 037 is the sexiest rally car ever!
I followed the 1985 RAC Rally, hoping to see the 037's swansong. Can you believe I was disappointed when I saw the new S4s! Memories of Henri coming through Sutton Park (one of the opening stages) with half the front missing. Little did we know he was on his way to victory...
@@paulcaswell2813S4 is a monster but I would also rather see 037 in action.
The Lancia looks sexy, but the sound of the Audi is electrifying!
@@fordgalaxie3726 I agree!
Magnificent footage. Finally 'new' Group B material.
These rally cars in the past are still a pleasure to watch and drive. And these Group B Rally Cars are still sounded brilliantly even in 2023.
Sport quattro group B is the best sounding car to this day! BMW E30 M3 DTM in second place!
Fantastico!!👏
Gracias youtube por recomendar esta joya 👌
Thank you for uploading this! So great to see the finns in Lancia roadside service. Kiitos!
The pre start part is brilliant. Oh, the past is a better place.
My favorite part of the video tbh, I’ve seen countless footage hours of these cars being driven in anger but these pre-start scenes.. man, pure time machine!
Video dell'anno!
85 Sanremo and RAC, my all time favorite Rallies.
Fantastic video from the 80s. I love that time.
I have tears in my eyes, this is incredible footage.
Many many thanks! I was there, literally, and I will never forget, but seeing all that again with that quality is simply amazing,
Christ the photographers in that one street had me sweating every time lmao like they missed the cars by millimeters
There is a video of a guy getting his hand caught by the car and it rips the camera out of his hands
Repair crews also reportedly found fingers etc in the intakes on the side and spoilers from spectators
Some real gems in there too amongst the Group B cars - Fiat Strada 130 TC, Astra Kadett GTE, Corolla GT - and the Citroen Visa looking rapid. Nice video ❤
This is awesome thank you
This is awesome for us fans of rallying group B was beyond skill to tame beasts like the legends here . They will always true legends of car control. Following rallying around the uk was a true pleasure for many many years thanks for sharing the footage 🙏🏻👍🏻😉🇬🇧 just annoying how idiots stood on the roads making it so scary for the drivers as if driving at speed wasn’t hard enough it was the crowds that killed group B not the cars !! 😔
! Saludos desde Argentina
Gracias
Awesome video!!! A hidden jewel.
What an era!
Your videos are simply the best 👌🏻👏🏻 the group B cars were the best era raw mechanical power as opposed to a computer on wheels like the 2023 cars I mean packed with tech even electronic centre diffs !
I used to rally a 6R4 and count myself lucky to be able to not only drive one but win 14 rallies and a championship in 1990 !
Wonderful video, thanks as always Passats de Canto; consideration, absurd how people didn't move until the last moment to take a photo, today all stages would be cancelled; today's instagrammers are nothing compared to these, they risked their lives in a few seconds. Late 80s perhaps the best ever for rallies
Early to mid '80s were the Group B days ;-)
Best drivers ever in motorsport history, on group B cars...amazing!
What better way to spend an evening than to watch this!
pure treasure. Thank you very much for this, and all other rally contents mate.
Wonderful. Group B FTW
Gracias Passats 🙌🏼
Great footage here and never seen before. Thank you for uploading.
amazing atmosphere!
Your videos are always awesome. Quality is extremely good and I'm really wondering how is it even possible. I mean, we talk about 1985 footage and you don't expect something like this. The best rally youtube channel by far.
Nice Quality!
When your father (or grandfather for the younger ones) tells you "boy, you know nothing about rally", don't pretend you do. These guys have enjoyed rally at it's very best. They were HARDCORE.
It was an honour to have been around during this era of rallying. Simply the greatest years of the sport. In 1980 Escorts were still competitive. By the end of 1985 we had the Delta S4: unbelievable pace of development.
My favorite rallye Channel 🤩👍
Thank you for uploading 🙏
¡Gracias mil y una veces!👏👏👏
Fantastico! Great behind the scenes footage too, never seen that stuff before. Shame that this is not in 50fps, I guess the original masters didn't have that available. Nevertheless, great upload again!
😢Meraviglioso gruppo B. Il Sanremo Spettacolare🥺
Amazing. Thank you
great thanks for upload.
Exellent!! More Group B please!!
Wish rallying was still like this. Awesome cars.
Amazing rally footage!!!!
Gran filmato complimenti bravo
Qualità ai massimi livelli complimenti.
One of most iconic race in group b. Fantastico.
Brutaaaaaal!!! ❤❤❤
Qué gran calidad de imagen para 1985. Parece Super8 bien conservado
Shot on Sony Betacam.
@@chemagonzalezrodriguez8791 Betacam was released in 1982.
U-matic tuvo TVE creo recordar
Group B Rallye, Formula 1 Turbo, Group C…the 80s were the golden age of motorsports
excepcionals documents, keep it up ⛽
Thank You
I love your contents.
Very good, no comment pure immersion
lo mejor es ver esas asistencias!!!
Quelle époque 😱🤩
Crazy to see how much faster rallying became with 4wd. The Peugeot and Audi look twice as fast than the others here.
Bellissimo filmato in hd
The reporter just casually tugging on the cigarette whilst interviewing Henri.... the good old days
5:00 A few of these drivers lost their lives a few year after this Rally. and it was the end of Group B.
In the modern era it still happens, such is the level of the Sport.
Immagino cosa avesse provato in quei 5 minuti...
Neat! So Herr Röhl was driving the prototype sequential Quattro (note the little button on the gear selector at 1:17)
That button on the gearstick was for the automatic clutch. It called "Sachsomat". Press the button, the clutch disengaged, shift the gear, take the finger from the button and the clutch is engaged again. The gearbox itself was the normal H-pattern 5 or 6 speed gearbox. You mean probably the Porsche double clutch gearbox. Audi installed this gearbox just two times during official ralley´s and that was at the german Semperit Rallye and the British WRC. Walter Röhrl was both times the driver. Some footage from the Semperit rallye -> ruclips.net/video/JFEdIu5N3p0/видео.html
23:17 POWERRRRRR!
Altri tempi ❤
RIP Henri 😢
You can see the turbos kicking in on some of these shots. Utter insanity.
Salut!
This was truly a spectacle, I’m proud to have been a part of the pinnacle of rallying, same applies to F1, they are now both sterile and watered down
Agree with f1, but modern wrc is not watered down. The cars now are pushing 500hp
@@alexoconnell2175 yes however group B was pushing over 500 in the 80’s without all the sophistication of todays cars, you can’t compare the 2
F1 - 1983 Brabham BT52/53. The most powerful F1 cars ever built. All off a standard BMW block.
pure gold!
