    The current Palestinian population has nothing to do with the name Palestine. The current population of Palestine is of Kan'an or Levantine descent. They have occupied the land for thousands of years, long before the name of the area changed according to who ruled. Kingdoms rise and fall. The people remain, the Kan'an tribe and their descendants. So all residents of Palestine, Lebanon, Israel (the original ones, not Zionists from Europe), Syria, Jordan, are all natives. They have occupied the land for thousands of years.

    Thomas Lockley, the author of "Yasuke", published a book of lies in an attempt to use Yasuke to gain attention and make money. This book is a gag book full of lies. Any Japanese person would know it's a lie if they read it. Thomas says that he "checked with an expert in Japanese history", but the expert claims that Thomas never asked for a fact check, proving that Thomas wrote a false article. From the beginning of the book's publication, Japanese people have pointed out his lies, and many are still angry. Samurai are educated from a young age. To be recognized as a samurai, it is very important to know who you served, where you worked, what achievements you made, what families you were connected to, and who your ancestors were. Therefore, Yasuke without a surname is not 1000% a samurai. Yasuke is just a foreign servant who can't even speak Japanese and can't communicate well. At that point, he has no qualifications to be a samurai. A samurai must be familiar with not only combat but also art and culture. Foreigners think that a samurai is just someone who swings a sword around and goes wild. That's why they mistakenly believe that anyone can be a samurai. William Adams did not become a samurai because he was white, but because he was well-versed in the international situation of the time and had important knowledge about how to protect Japan from European invasion.

      @@HistoryLeaks many reasons. For starters, he makes a point that the Romans renamed Judea to Palestine to spite the Jews. That is factually incorrect. While the Judeans no doubt associated themselves as descendants of the Israelites, archaeology suggests that while Israelite people inhabited the area, they didn’t have sovereignty for any long periods of time. The surrounding civilizations had already been calling that region Palestine for thousands of years prior to the Romans even existing. For example, the district was certainly Judea, but the entire region was Palestine to other surrounding civilizations, even during the time period just before and following the Jewish Revolts. The Egyptians, Greeks, and other surrounding civilizations had already been calling the region Palestine (in their own language) for thousands of years. Literally only Zionists make the flimsy argument that the name Palestine was made to spite the Jews. There’s a lot more.

      @@chezbh Kingdom of Israel 1030bc - 722bc roughly 300 years of sovereignty until they were conquered by the Assyrians Kingdom of Judah lasted in the south until 586, another 130 years. They were surrounded by large empires and eventually were conquered, but how can you disregard all of that history and say they didn’t have sovereignty for a long period of time? That’s more years of sovereignty than some modern nations have today. Regarding the name. Look at the Roman Empire, until 136 AD it was the province of Judea, what is your explanation for them suddenly changing the name of the province to Syria Palestina? (Coincidentally after the Jewish revolt?) I agree with you, different countries have different words for the names of places/regions. It doesn’t make sense to say well the Greeks called it Palestine so that’s the correct name… there are many names for different regions of the world.

    • @chezbh
      @chezbh 2 дня назад

      @@HistoryLeaks relative to the thousands of years of history of the region, no, the Israelites did not have sovereignty for that long. Before the Israelites and after the Israelites (Israelites in this particular circumstance means anyone who descended from the 12 Tribes). There is no archaeological basis to assume that all of the people of Judea were “Jews” from the Tribe of Judah. But rather, the Judahites absorbed the local populations at the time under one banner, Judahites. I can keep going…. If you want to interview me, let me know. I have studied this history from both sides. My dad is Palestinian Muslim and my mom is Ashkenazi Jewish. I know my shit.

    It's clear that he wasn't. Just compare what William Adams did and the French military consultant Jules Brunet accomplished on battlefield to earn their battlefield commission to be named lordship of a samurai. While on the other hand Yasuke was in written historical text as a "Bushi" and it's a professional fighter just as ashigaru's from peasant farmers. It's true that some samurai's came from bushi, but not all bushi's are samurais. You have to ask why's it clear as day for William Adams and Jules Brunet to be samurai, but vaguely and mythicaly for Yasuke? Adams and Brunet had great contribution towards to their work in Japan documented precisely in historical text. Adams did diplomacy work and Brunet fought and was a Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ezo, but when it comes to Yasuke that's only been there little more than a year (highly likely unable to speak Japanese) from a servant to receive the honors compared to Adams and Brunet? Without any battlefield commission or achievements or ceremonial ascension from servant to lord samurai and no witness? This is disrespectful, even in movies Hollywood would change the name of Jules Brunet and William Adams to no conflict with historical content, but not with UBISOFT's DEI.

      There is an account of Yasuke being present at the Hanno-ji temple incident, that was like 1000 samurai attacking Oda Nobunaga, so how can you say there is no evidence of him even being at a battle? It was a significant event, technically not a pitched battle but a similar event.

      You don’t even have to go as far as William adams, hideyoshi went from peasant to shogun he was awarded samurai status by oda just like they claim yasuke was however like will Adams this honor and status was bestowed on him bc of his accomplishments and usefulness go oda and tokugaway (for will) respectively. The notion that yasuke was awarded such high status (it’s practically nobility) bc oda liked oddities is ridiculous. Yasuke was oart of the bushi (warrior) class it seems but while all samurai are bushi not all bushi are samurai. And there are no historical documents that back up the claim that yasuke was ever awarded the two swords and title of samurai. He was awarded a short sword and at best was probably a guard of some sort. He was employed as opposed to a slave and it was def a step up in status for him. But and I say this as a part of the black community WE HAVE TO STOP creating black myths when we have so much rich history to fall back on

      I take your point there about the Bushi, and not all Bushi were samurai, very true. I agree with you, he probably was a guard of some sort, which is why he was employed by the Jesuits in the first place. Of course, many shows and now games like Assassin Creed take this interesting story and exaggerate it to sell a game. But for me it is interesting enough that he was there in Japan, mingling with all of these historical figures like Oda Nobunaga etc. the fact that he wasn't samurai class (which isn't at all surprising) doesn't mean he didn't have skills etc. because I believe he was employed for a reason.

I would believe if Yasuke had any chance if he had some achievements on the field of battle that highly recognizable and witnessed, but we don't have any besides him in some battles. William Adams was given the Japanese name "三浦按針 - Miura Anjin." This fact should not be underestimated. "三浦Miura" is the surname, and "按針Anjin(meaning navigator of a Western ship)" is the personal name. The name "三浦Miura" is around the name of a small peninsula just southwest of Tokyo, and he was given the surname because he was given fief here. At that time, people with surnames were of a rank higher than samurai, so it is certain that he became a samurai. Also, the correct name of the Dutchman who was saved on the same shipwreck as Adams and who was also favored by Ieyasu is "Jan Joosten van Lodenstijn." I do not know the structure of Dutch names, but if Jan is the first name and Joosten is the middle name, then the latter, van Lodenstijn, becomes the surname, so the Japanese name "耶揚子 - Yayohsu" given to him does not have a surname and he was not a samurai. Because it is a long name, it may have been shortened to 耶Ya as the surname and 揚子Yohsu as the personal name, but if that is the case, it is a very Chinese-style name, and it seems strange that it was made into a Japanese name based only on the sound. In other words, normally speaking, he would have been given only his personal name and not a surname, and would not have been treated as a samurai. If he did not have the knowledge and experience of navigation and shipbuilding that Adams had, the difference in treatment would be understandable. In addition, the east district of Tokyo Station, called "八重洲Yaesu" derives from his name.

    The very first mention of the name Palestine in the history of Mankind: The whole of the region was referred to as `Canaan' in Mesopotamian texts and trade records found at Ebla and Mari as early as the 18th century BCE while the term `Palestine' does not appear in any written records until the 5th century BCE in the Histories of Herodotus. Throughout time, many names have been given to this area including Palestine, Eretz-Israel, Bilad es-Shem, the Holy Land and Djahy. The earliest known name for this area was "Canaan." The inhabitants of Canaan were never ethnically or politically unified as a single nation. In early times, Palestine was inhabited by Semitic peoples, the earliest being the Canaanites. According to tradition, Abraham, the common ancestor of the Jews and the Arabs, came from Ur to Canaan. The Quran does not mention Palestine even once. Many Muslims do not know that their Quran never mentions Palestine even once, and mentions the name Israel 43 times (Bani Israel, sons of Israel), and clearly says that Allah has ordained the holy land for them!. The name was revived by the Romans in the 2nd century ce in “Syria Palaestina,” designating the southern portion of the province of Syria, and made its way thence into Arabic, where it has been used to describe the region at least since the early Islamic era.

    It's soooo misleading to put an AI created "photograph" in the thumbnail like that. Not even mentioning it while showing it in the video either.
