    Sorry to hear you had such a rough time. Sounds like some of your issue was due to the anesthesia. I had my first lithotripsy done about three weeks ago. (soundwave, not laser) I have a lot of trouble with anesthesia, ( I get very aggressive and violent when I wake up) so I talked my Dr. into letting me go through it without putting me under. I only let them give me a tiny bit of Versed and a little bit of Fentanyl. Only because the Dr. and anesthesiologist kept saying it was going to be very painful. Once the procedure started, I realized I didn't even need that. The soundwaves felt like no more than someone thumping me in the back with their finger. Only noticed some slight discomfort in the kidney about the last 5 minutes. I was slightly sore for about 2 days afterwards but only if I sat in certain positions otherwise wasn't noticeable. Having my other kidney done in a few more weeks and will not be taking any meds at all this time. Was able to get dressed and walk out of the surgery center 10 minutes after it was done. No recovery room. Only took 1/2 hydrocodone as a precaution when I left the center and that was all. Never needed anything else.

    I think I might be autistic since sometimes I have outburst when I feel overwhelmed and I almost got myself injured a few times...and I got my hand injured once over this. and I don't know how to bring this on a therapy session and I am somehow hesitant on looking for therapy because I am afraid the doctor will say that I am overreacting or the doctor won't believe me. Some daily tasks are sometimes very difficult like going to the supermarket or even working. I don't know what to do and I am afraid the doctor will think that I am coming up with that just to get a service dog. I wish I had one that would prevent me from hurting myself because the last time I hurted my hand it was injured for days.

    At 1:49, your dog was about to push you through the front door, not a safer position. Honestly, my dog does a lot of this when just coming home from work. Jumps on me, pushes me over when I go to sit on the couch, and if I lay down will jump up and start licking me. I suppose I could teach it to respond based on movements instead of me walking in. How much does one pay for a service dog like this, I may have one for sale if the price is right. :)

    I have a very odd question that I feel like is dumb but, why do you have to buy special service dogs from service dog breeders? Why can’t it be possible to train any puppy?

    • @baileytheservicepupper
      @baileytheservicepupper 2 месяца назад

      This is a great question! Not every dog/puppy can be trained to be a service dog because it requires specific temperment/characteristics. For example, some dogs are naturally too protective or easily startled for service dog work and can cause disruptions in public due to growling or barking. Another example is dogs without sufficient drive or interest in their handler, so they don't task consistently. A service dog also needs to be healthy to work ethically, so some dogs wouldn't be trained due to underlying health issues. Some breeds, based on their breed standard, are more likely to have a temperment that will lead to more successful service work, like labs, Goldens, poodles, and smooth/rough collies. All ethical Breeders should breed for healthier and tempermentally stable dogs, and breeders can also specifically breed for temperments for service work to increase the chances of dogs being successful in being trained. It is not a requirement to buy from a service dog breeder, but it can greatly increase success rates and reduce training difficulties. My first service dog Bailey did not come from a breeder, but my second SD Dimitri did and the training process for Dimitri was a lot easier because we did not need to work through undesirable behavior or temperment issues.

    The pain and nausea you're describing don't even come close to the intense discomfort of passing kidney stones. My only questions are: Did you have to wear a stent, and did your kidneys suffer any long-term damage?

      @@baileytheservicepupper that's good. How did you convince your doctor to go ahead with it? I have a 4mm kidney stone causing me pain and discomfort, but my urologist said they won't perform lithotripsy unless I'm in excruciating pain. I need advice on how to persuade them. What should I say?

    Service dogs are NOT allowed in food preparation areas, hospital operating theatres and animal contact areas within zoological parks. Service dogs must also have a 6-foot non-retractable leash attached to them at all times.

    Thank you for this. I have autism, depression and anxiety. I’m getting a service dog because my mental health has been getting worse for almost nine months (Jewish, not pregnant), and every day has felt like I’m losing control. I’ve lived with dogs my whole life, but I’ve never had any service dogs before. I know people who have service dogs, but I really don’t know what to expect when people come up to me or the prospective dog to try and pet them.

    I’ve been struggling with abc since the 3rd grade, I suffer from an anxiety disorder and a panic disorder, PTSD (from my parents drinking and fighting all the time when I was a kid), potential seasonal depression, and my family thinks I probably have anorexia. I want a PSD to help and I have 3 dogs (a year year old blue heeler and border collie mix, an 8 month old Australian shepherd and husky mix, and a 14 year old chihuahua) I’m scared to ask my parents bc they think meds will help. My dad said he will support me no matter what but I feel like if I bring it up everyone will think I’m being dramatic. Even the THOUGHT of bringing it up makes me go into a full blown panic attack (hyperventilating, light head, migraine, WHOLE body shakes, and I’ve had such bad hyperventilating that i was so close to fainting) I don’t know what I should do and I NEED help. I don’t want my parents to think I’m over exaggerating

    I don't understand the follow so and so command. If you have a human nearby, why is the human not helping you? Can you describe a scenario where you need to focus on her while she's following a designated family member? Thanks! Amazing video!

    • @baileytheservicepupper
      @baileytheservicepupper 4 месяца назад

      Great question! Typically we use that command in scenarios where I am getting sensory overload in a crowded place, and it is easier to navigate the crowd with the person I am with walking in front of me and my service dog following them rather than the person physically guiding me through an area. The person with me is not always able to hold my hand to pull me through a crowd or may be a coworker or friend who isn't knowledgeable about the details of my disability, so this command works well for us in a wider range of situations than just relying on having a human available to know how to help with what I need. Thanks for your support! 😊

    Future handler here (currently in the application process) whose dog will most likely be a lab or golden. Having a printout with you of the airline's service dog policy can also be helpful if you end up with an employee who doesn't know the rules, isn't following the rules, or is following them but is still giving you a hard time. Same goes for other disability policies if using other/additional mobility equipment/have other disabilities that require accommodations/assistance when flying - I did that the first time I flew with a higher end wheelchair (inherited my grandma's folding custom wheelchair), and it's a good thing I did (I printed both the airline's policy and the specific ACAA section regarding it, and highlighted the relevant lines), because there were some gate agents who weren't familiar with the rules for stowing a folding wheelchair in the cabin - all I had to do was hand them the printout so they could read it. Wish I could take my pick of airlines, but only one of them services my home airport, and the next closest airport is further away than I can drive by myself (and I live and fly alone, so no backup driver), so that one airline it is. Thankfully, they've been fairly good so far the last 6 years of me flying with my wheelchair, and I know both their and TSA's policies and rules for service animals (and I'll carry printouts of both of them, and possibly the ADA and ACAA sections, if needed - relevant lines highlighted - with me when flying after I get my dog), so I'm as prepared as I can get right now on that particular front.

    Spirit and frontier are absolutely awful for able bodied people, much less those of us with disabilities. You are so much calmer than I think I could’ve been. I’m 6’4” so I’m already crushed without the dog much less the disrespect. I’m already self conscious about asking for help with my disability so when I do and it’s met with disrespectful resentment it wrecks me. Thanks so much for advocating!

    In the end of the news there needs to be neighbors this is all lies from the woman who were saying that to you and I'll tell you I had that happen when I went to go visit my relative in a nursing home they demanded paperwork and then my dog's medical certifications to put on file in case something happens when my service dog would attack somebody which is a load of crap you cannot ask for that you cannot demand that and you can't refuse me service you're not a house of worship which there is separation of church and state which they can refuse if they wish to because they're not having to comply by Ada and where to get the police involved who was aware that the thanks to Amazon and eBay and Etsy and Google putting out these third-party sellers are fake posers saying that you need to get certification records of medical and proof by a badge or a card or something to verify your dog's a service dog through them and spending money on it which they're all fake they're all phonies well these people tried to demand and act like they can ask for this and they're going to harass you and keep trying to find a way to ask for this and your medical records for your service dog and unless you get the police involved they're going to keep hacking you over there they're going to tell you it's not over even if you get the police involved on it and they know the wrong but they want to go off of what they see online and then try to use that as an excuse to refuse you services and this is a violation and discrimination against handlers the service dogs and they specifically Target people who look not disabled enough to them to require a service dog to violate their rights like that. They even do that manipulative BS they'll say oh I'm going to lose my job if I let you in or oh my gosh this is one time thing I don't want to get fired because I'm letting you in here and it's like you clearly don't understand that all the shit that's going on in the webs and misinformation on Amazon on Facebook and all that are all lies they're all scam artists trying to scare people into thinking they got to pay this money for this and then pushing that on to make people believe they can use it as a way to refuse you services and they'll do this attack on people with the service dog based off your parents based on your breed or size of your service dog and then they will Hackle and harass you you got people who will come up and try to take pictures and claim that they're going to report you because you clearly have a service dog that's got to be a pet because you don't look disabled enough after them and their little pet harass you and you tell them that you're going to call the cops on them for it because they cannot be harassing distracting your service dog this is the stuff we have to do it and I've tried to work with my favorite percent of they don't care try to work with my Congress they don't care all they care about is the walk leftist ideology I'm giving rights and special preference to treatment and assisting the BLM antifa and lgbtq troops while the unread disabled Americans and they undermined disabled Americans who require service dogs at every turn they are capping us they are penalizing us now they want to penalize us if we dare to get a job that is under the table because we don't get enough from disability to afford to get a service dog let alone you know keep ourselves above float and now we have to deal with all this additional persecution advise what group ideologist who are targeting us while they're bringing their little pets into their stores because they think that they can get away with it because they're black or lgbtq plus and then they harass us handlers a service dogs and when the police show up they do nothing about it there's no justice there's no willingness to educate people there's no willingness to crack down on the misinformation out on the webs there's no willingness to crack down on Amazon in other websites that claim that we need the third-party sellers paperwork to prove that we have a service dog and they're not willing to take the stuff to do it I am willing to go up to the state capitol on it but you know they don't care They Don't Care About Us disabled people and it's very evident in clear when we have to deal with this more often than we should ever have to

    I've had to literally go outside of my city for my service dog and my safety because we have people who are running businesses in my city of Livonia Michigan who are intentionally saying that they are pet friendly when they are not and their corporate office is very clearly State they are not and they're letting people in with pets who are putting people with service dogs at risk and we've even been attacked more than once at a Dollar Tree by me and not only were we attacked in the store we were attacked outside of the store and then our city police don't do their job and charged the person of the classroom misdemeanor and they let the person off the hook they don't disclose the whole entire incident of what happened and then they play to the Dollar Tree who lie to them to their face breaking Federal Ada law breaking HIPAA law and claiming to the police that they are pet friendly when they are not I said call the corporate they will verify that they are not friendly at all and it is all to make profit at the expense of customers safety and service dog handler safety. So now I have to look for additional what time jobs outside of my city because of the danger that these businesses Dollar Tree and Walmart end a few others push on handlers with service dogs and they let these people in and a lot of times it's a small dogs that are the problem and certain people certain backgrounds for the problem bringing their small dogs up in there that don't belong there. And my city does nothing to crack down on this and they did it for profit. And unfortunately cuz I don't look disabled enough when I bring my service dog in we are harassed by people because of this ongoing issue where businesses are letting these people in claiming to be pet friendly stores and they're not so then people who do run businesses that will not tolerate that have a hard time believing people who come in there with a service dog who don't look disabled to them whether or not they are a service dog handler and service dog and genuine. It is an ongoing problem in my city as well as my state and other cities nearby because of the situation and people like to pick and choose who they think look disabled enough to require service dogs and if a service dog can handle or being attacked by somebody in the store and outside of the store no one wants to take out a film and record nobody wants to do right and help get Justice for the handle and service dog when the police fail to do their damn jobs and put out a blast the business blast the person who are attacking the Handler service dog on social media because they are afraid if they make a wrong move and that person doesn't have a service dog then it does the service to those who do have one and this is a problem because people can't seem to understand you can't assume somebody is a fake unless you have visual evidence of behavior by that dog and their owner so if the dog is acting out if the dog is in somebody's purse and barking and growling and trying to get out to try to Lunge or attack and these are small dogs if they're having accidents if they are coming up and bothering other people if they are letting people touch their dog and talk to their dog and distract their dog and giving their dog's name out to people those are fakes and unfortunately those people are ruining it for everyone who does have a service dog cuz like for me and my mother went to Costco we went to you know walk out and we had to show our receipt the guy kept trying to talk and distract my service dog I said to stop it and that that's a misdemeanor please do not distract my service dog he said well I'm not and my mother then chimed in saying yes you are sir by trying to distract her service dog something can happen to her and he goes well it's just a dog no sorry it's medical equipment well how do I know it's a service dog it could be emotional support animal do you think somebody with the most social support animal can afford what my daughter has for her service dog no so as far as we're concerned sir stop asking me stop asking my daughter questions about her service dog to look at a receipt so we can leave and this is just stuff we have to do with and then we have people like I went into a market by me and this guy's whistling over to my dog and he's like well service dogs are no different than I'm also support and therapy dogs know they are different unfortunately our society believes that they are now and due to emotional entitlement of fake victimhood of we got to be the inclusivity and we're going to let people bring pets into places that don't belong there then people then try to look emotional support animals and a lot of people believe emotional support animals are the same thing they are not and so this is a disservice to Handler she were trying to go about their business getting their stuff and people are letting their kids try to come up and harass them they're calling out to the dog they're asking for the dog's name they are whistling at the dog they are trying to distract the dog and then assume that just because you don't want disabled in a wheelchair or blind that it's okay cuz you must have a emotional support or therapy or psychiatric service dog so it's okay to do that to you know it's not because you can't see a medical condition doesn't mean somebody has a service dog that's for emotional support and psychiatric. And unfortunately because people believe that based off your parents and you know you're not physically disabled and you're not blind they literally will try to harass you and they will ask questions about your dog and it's like you ignore them and they will not stop bothering you and it's because people believe and they don't go to the Ada website people believe all this fake mumbo jumbo and misinformation on Amazon and on Google that service accidental different than emotional support and therapy dogs then they think that well if they are allowed to do this and that to those dogs that can do the same to people with the service dog if the person doesn't look disabled enough to them and that's not true but this is something I and other handlers have had to deal with and it's very frustrating especially when it's non-american people who ask for proof that your dog is a service dog which there's no such thing you can ask for and people just are hypocrites they want to log service dogs in with all these other dogs and then claim that any business can be a pet friendly business which they're not and then please don't want to do their job and due diligence by contacting the businesses corporate to verify because they do that then they can actually have legal verification under HIPAA to press charges against the business for violating Federal Ada law and putting me as a Handler in my safety and my service dog safety in Jeopardy where we had to go to the ER because of being attacked and instead they let the dollar store in 7 Mile Middlebelt Livonia get away with allowing somebody to attack me and my service dog in and outside of their store and then claim because it's pet friendly Like Home Depot which it wasn't they were lying straight through their teeth to the cops the cops will not do their job and then we can't trust cops then this has been an ongoing issue in my city other people said the same thing in my city we can't trust the cops to do their job to crack down on these situations and the woke my particularly is really coming after not just people of religion they're coming after people who are straight straight single women and now they're coming after people with service dogs and they will claim their dogs and also support or therapy dog and then say that it's no different than a service dog and lie to police and police will go off on that and believe it which is not true and they don't do their own investigating on it they won't contact us to verify and they let this go and it doesn't deserve to all handlers

    Some thing I personally do (mainly to handle my travel anxiety) if I am going to use a new travel service or a travel service in a new area I call them up in advance and make sure they know about the service dog laws. This is not only what to do with a real service dog, but also making sure they know that if an actual fake gets out of control what to do in those instances. A lot of times being made aware that there are certain instances where they can ask the team to leave puts many companies at ease about service dogs in general and has the added benefit of keeping real teams safer.

    11:20 I'm pretty sure the shuttle bus driver was talking about ESA's not being allowed public access in several areas they used to be allowed in and may not have known the difference between an ESA and a task trained service dog and the service dog laws. The media also perpetuate the term "Registered Service dog" and it has indeed been problematic.
