    Hi Ekkonester's and other Comment Readers. We have the 2025 Sprekko and one of our issues is the dashboard display. It shows the oil level upon the startup which is nice to see. However, it then stays on the oil level when I'd prefer it to be on the speedometer display mode. I am aware that I can use the touchpad to change the display but it seems like the display could be default preset to the speed after the engine oil status is reported. Has anyone figured out a solution so that we don't need to keep resetting the dash? Thanks for any input. Ken

    Sounds like an oil filter change with a fluid top off? 45min on Saturday in my own driveway for the cost of materials. Honestly, if you can’t do this yourself, you might want to reconsider going off-road in an RV.

    • @ekkonesters599
      @ekkonesters599 15 часов назад

      Thanks for watching the video! We went with the full Service A: oil and fuel filter changes, oil change, DEF fill, and inspections of fluids like coolant and brake fluid. They also checked brake fluid moisture, suspension components, the drivetrain, and other wear-and-tear items. A 45-minute oil change, wow on this rig at home, you'd be quick, no doubt-especially without a lift or pit, even with a creeper. But in this case for me working on the ground (our small driveway and narrow street), moving drain pans, swapping fuel filters, and cleaning up can take a lot longer, at least for me with my driveway setup. Plus, oil disposal isn’t always convenient since local parts shops here have limits on what they accept. Taking the rig to a shop this time was just a little treat for myself, especially after being hands-on with many upgrades and the build-out. Sometimes it’s just easier and more efficient to let a trusted shop handle it (like PAD they guys I trust). But, I get your point-it’s a doable DIY (Do it yourself job) job if you’ve got the space, time, tools, and a bit of mechanical aptitude. By the way, whats your rig? You have some favorite over landing/off roading areas? Appreciate your perspective!

    Thats the problem with All wheel drive and why the national forestry service will not normally allow them into park lands in the winter! you have to wait for slippage before they will engage.. if at all.. While with a 4x4 you can FORCE it to stay engaged at all times. eliminating the chance of getting stuck in the first place!

    • @ekkonesters599
      @ekkonesters599 16 часов назад

      Agree on the logic for sure. A 4x4 does have a better fighting chance, of course depending on driver, air, tires, etc. But maybe a set of lockers?

      Hello, thanks for checking out our channel. I agree it should be one of the first things they would think about with the type of exposure to the cast of aluminum oil pan as well as the other Vital components. I’ll tell you a quick story, a friend of mine Max who manufactures the skid plates has a client up in the Colorado area. They received a phone call that one of the sprinters needed to be towed in and possibly an engine replacement because the oil pan got shattered, driving down the highway. Apparently, they were not even off road. My experience has been most of these things typically happen just driving down the highway and something catches the underside. We sell these on our website as well.

The Reika R35V Rambler 3500 Super Single This kit is specifically designed to replace the traditional dually setup on Mercedes-Benz 3500 Sprinter Vans. We love our set up to be upfront with you. The good news is that you can typically keep your original braking system when making this switch. We did and averaging works great. No issues in or off road. Etc. Keep in mind, the kit includes: • 2 front wheels • 2 rear wheels • 1 spare wheel • Lug nuts These fit the 6x205 bolt pattern. If you decide to order directly from Reika Wheels, she have an affiliate discount code that will save you money. Whether calling or in line use discount code at checkout EKKOnesters. Also, Shadowmarq in California is a distributor as well and feel free to mention our names, I believe he offers some merch or incentives as well. What is the difference in gas milage with the super single and suspension upgrades?

    • @ekkonesters599
      @ekkonesters599 10 дней назад

      Great questions-and thank you for checking out our channel and subscribing! I’ll do my best to answer based on our experience and travels. Keep in mind that gas mileage can vary greatly depending on the specific vehicle, driving habits, and conditions. Starting with the REIKA Super Single Wheels: When retrofitting the Super Singles, I took the time to weigh both the original dually setup and the new wheels. From what I recall, there was approximately a 60-pound difference between the two. For reference, the REIKA wheels mounted with 295/70/17 TOYO tires weighed about 464 pounds (with a pallet) on a non-certified pallet scale. Fuel Efficiency and Wheel Impact: Super single wheels are typically lighter than dual rear wheels (duallies), as mentioned above, and they help reduce rolling resistance. In theory, this can lead to slight improvements in fuel efficiency, particularly on highways. That said, the impact on MPG is minimal and I could not argue that it increased. When it comes to tires, the type of tire can make a big difference: Larger or more aggressive all-terrain tires-commonly used with super singles-can increase rolling resistance and may slightly decrease MPG. But again, we have not noticed anything that would detour us from making the same decision in the future. Suspension Upgrades and MPG: Deaver Leaf Springs and King Shocks: Upgrades like Deaver Leaf Springs and King Shocks are great for improving ride quality and handling, especially in corners and on unimproved road conditions and with heavy loads. While suspension doesn't typically have a direct effect on MPG, there could be a minor impact due to changes in the vehicle’s center of gravity, which might slightly increase drag. On a stock Winnebago EKKO, average MPG is typically 14-16 MPG, depending on the load, driving habits, throttle engagement and driving conditions such as climbing hills. Concluding based on what we have experienced, with the REIKA Super Single wheels and suspension upgrades, our MPG has remained more or less consistent over the past 12,000 miles. I'd say figure around 14-15 MPG OVERALL. Of course there will be times where its much greater and other times where its less. I hope this helps.

    • @ekkonesters599
      @ekkonesters599 9 дней назад

      @@TEB64 Hello, Thank you so much for taking the time to watch our video and leave a comment-it’s always great to connect with folks like you! The product we installed is the NAVIDOK Overlander X - Mercedes Sprinter Dash Mount. This is a no-drill dash solution specifically designed to securely and conveniently mount navigation devices in the Mercedes Sprinter (2019+ models). Here’s a quick overview of the product: • No-Drill Installation: It attaches securely to your Sprinter’s dashboard without requiring any drilling or modifications, making installation hassle-free. • Constructed with powder-coated aluminum and stainless steel hardware, it’s incredibly durable and reliable, even on rough roads. • Seamlessly integrates with the Sprinter’s interior without obstructing the view of the road or interfering with dashboard controls. • Compatible with RAM® Mount products and other similar T-track accessories, allowing for endless configurations for devices like cell phones, iPads, and walkie-talkies. We actually discovered this product a few years ago before we had the EKKO. Once we got the EKKO, organizing our navigation devices, phones, and other dashboard items was one of the first things we wanted to tackle. One of the coolest aspects of the NAVIDOK Overlander X is its flexibility. With so many interchangeable RAM products, you can adapt it to fit various devices. We also had the privilege of meeting the owners, Alex and Jeni, owners while in Tahoe. They’re incredibly passionate about overlanding and their products, and it shows in the quality and attention to detail they put into everything they create. In addition to the Overlander X, we also installed the Charge Groove Cord Organizer. This accessory optimizes your Sprinter’s dash charging ports, improving cable management. We’ve had so much interest in these products that we arranged a discount code for anyone interested. If you head over to their store at terraxstore.myshopify.com/?ref=jason_rodarte and use the code EKKOnesters at checkout, you’ll get a percentage off your order. Feel free to email me through our website if you have any additional questions. Thanks again for reaching out, and I hope this helps!

To answer your question: as far as I know and based on my research, there are no significant changes to the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis itself between the 2024 and 2025 models. However, that doesn’t mean Winnebago won’t make some subtle updates to the EKKO build. For example, Winnebago recently altered the design of the rear garage doors on some of EKKO's that are showing up at the dealers. The version we have is more rectangular, but newer ones have a slight angle cut to the side garage doors to accommodate a bulkier blind spot monitoring system. Personally, I’m not a fan of this change-it’s purely aesthetic and subjective-but it wouldn’t stop me from making a purchase. It’s just something worth noting if you’re comparing models. Winnebago often makes small, incremental improvements to details like window shades, door mechanisms, fuse boxes, and other components, so you might find minor differences in these areas. But overall, I think the 2024 and 2025 EKKO models will be very consistent. A Few Tips for Purchasing an EKKO: Of course always do you own due diligance. If you’re planning to buy an EKKO (or any motorhome), here are some lessons we learned that may help: 1. Don’t focus solely on the lised "sale price". Of course saving money is important. While MSRP is a good starting point, dealer pricing can vary widely. Some dealers may seem to offer a competitive price, (really low sale price) but as the deal unfolds, additional fees and taxes can creep in, so be vigilant about hidden costs. He ran into this multiple times on our first purchase and second purchase. 2. Consider reputable dealerships. We had a great experience with Lichtsinn RV in Forest City, Iowa. I believe it is their 45th year in business as well. They are about 1 mile from the factory, so the vehicles they get basically have almost zero miles outside of a few drives. We experience that within an hour of contacting them, they accepted our offer, and everything was disclosed up front-no surprises or hidden fees. There were no games at closing, no pushing other objectives. It was truly one of easiest transactions I have ever had. Friendly, knowledgable and upfront about everything. Plus, buying close to Winnebago’s manufacturing facility meant we didn’t have to worry about our new motorhome being driven hundreds or even thousands of miles for delivery. Which leads to Transportation Mileage. 3. Watch for transportation mileage. If you’re buying from a dealer farther from the factory, the vehicle might already have several thousand miles on it depending where you are in the US in respect to the manufacturer. There is generally a "vehicle manufacturer engine "suggested break in procedure". It seems unlikely to me that a driver (transporter) would care to follow this procedure. Rather my understanding is their goal is to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible. Its also important to note that it is not uncommon for a drive to tow a personal vehicle behind a transported rig. Im not suggesting this is a common practice, but it does occur and I would rather not have someone tow behind my vehicle. If it helps, here is the contact number for Lichtsinn RV. 641-585-0612 lichtsinn.com/ekko

      Hi there, fellow Oregon Natives! Congratulations on your 2024 Coachmen Cross Trail with the Ford EcoBoost AWD-sounds like a fantastic rig! The motor you have is one of my favorites and has some serious Horse Power. For trips to the Oregon mountains, especially places like Hoodoo, Bend, and Mt. Hood during winter, you’re correct that traction devices are often required. Quick question, what tires are you running. When we had our Ford AWD chassis with the Dullys, we were running the Falken Wildpeak AT and these tires did amazing in all kinds of conditions. Here’s what I’d recommend: Chains: Always good to have on hand. Although, we never carried as set or used them. There was one time, I think I could have benefitted though. I've also heard of the "SOCKS" these seem pretty cool too. I was talking with a Trucker going over Shasta and he said they are incredible. a.co/d/34B46x2. Make sure they’re the right size for your dually tires and practice putting them on before you need them in the snow. Studded Tires: If you plan on spending a lot of time in snowy or icy areas, studded winter tires can provide excellent grip. Again, though I couldn't justify the need myself, but not the worst idea by any means. Just remember, Oregon has restrictions which I think a is (typically Nov 1-March 31). Traction Boards: Definitely worth it! They're compact, lightweight, and can save you if you get stuck. I use a.co/d/aoJcOXm Bunker Industries. I am not sponsored, but for less than $100.00, these have contributed to countless recoveries in Sand, Snow, etc. but there are other great options out there too. Just keep in mind the number of times you may need them may not justify purchasing a $400.00 set. I love what we have. Small Shovel: A must-have in snowy conditions. It’s perfect for digging out tires or clearing around your rig. We have the adventurenesters.co/products/a6-adventure-mini-shovel-ams-1-black?_pos=1&_sid=639327dd4&_ss=r. Agency 6 shovel, awesome, lightweight and strong. Tire Pressure Monitor: Keep an eye on your tire pressure, as it can fluctuate in cold weather for sure. But sometimes deflating in extreme snow can help. I haven't had to though. Since you’ve only taken it to the coast so far, this will be a fun adventure into the snowy mountains! One last question for you, I just googled the Cross Trail and that is one cool rig. If you have time, can you email me through out website Cross Trail I would love to see your vehicle. I have a couple ideas that you might like. Thanks for watching our videos-let us know how your trip goes! Safe travels, Jason & Michelle

      @@ekkonesters599 Thank-you for taking the time to respond & offer all the helpful tips & links! Our All Terrain tire size is 225 75R16. We have Falcon Racing shocks, which in my opinion may give a rougher ride.... Lol. We had a low battery while dry camping recently and got the beep all night long, coming from inverter I believe? I wished I knew how to shut it off after it notified us. Learning lesson, charge Lithium battery before going to bed. We were in a 'no generators' after 10 pm, so I started up the Transit to charge the battery, but it didn't last through the night. Ughh. Still love it though & more to learn. I'm unsure how to email through your website? Just love you & Michelles adventures and we may check out the KOA in Deadwood later this Summer.

    Something i havent seen anyone talk about (and i follow quite a few travellers) are the costs associated with this lifestyle. For a newbie who wants to get into the life, what are the needs and costs? Im talking the stuff you dont think about. Laptop, software, do you need a license for the music? Go pro camera's, drone, satellite phone or cb radio (i want to do the dempster and daulton hwys) starlink or another non-fascist loving satellite internet service. Jerry cans for extra gas, def if your vehicle is a diesel. What am i missjng?

I’d be happy to share links to the gear I’m using and provide some recommendations. Do you currently have an EKKO?

    Michelle’s sled run left me literally laughing out loud. I sincerely hope her finger(s) and butt is ok. It is always fun to see your sons with you on your adventures. We miss our girls, and skiing/snowboarding on the slopes with them. I’m the one screaming in a pizza slice on a blue box run, and they are telling me what run they were on when they heard me screaming. 😅 Man! That trailfire rocks. Jason and Chewy made y’all a FINE looking meal! Happy New Year!!

      Michelle definitely gave us all a good laugh with that sled run-she’s recovering just fine, her finger is a little bruised. It’s always special to have the kids along for the adventures, isn’t it? Sounds like you have some amazing memories with your girls on the slopes. The Trail Fire has been a go to for us ever since our purchase. When we were in the parking lot, so many people were commenting and saying what a great idea to be able to break out some food on the spot.
