Hey y'all! I'm Katie & welcome to my channel! The goal of my channel is to help you train smarter, improve your hybrid races, and be ready for all of life's adventures! New full-length videos every Friday!
I help female athletes build mental and physical strength to conquer both fitness races and all of life's adventures with hybrid strength training programs. I'm a hybrid coach and athlete, I competed at the 2023 Deka World Championships in Strong Age Group and Strong Elite Co-ed Teams, I'm an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, and I have a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from SFASU.

Re: tank push/pull... you mention the Xebex XT3 but show the TANK M4 in the demo, which one is the DEKA standard?
What if you fail a zone?
Deka recently put out penalty rules. 80% of the zones reps/meters/calories are required to be considered an official finisher. Failure to complete >80% of a zone or skipping a zone would be a DQ. No global leaderboard time, but you’d still get a finisher medal & shirt! What’s the approximate weight you’re push/pulling of the tank (men’s)?
Torque has a helpful chart in this article, scroll to “How do the TANK resistance & difficulty levels work?” The chart shows what weight you’re pushing at specific speeds. Hope this helps! www.torquefitness.com/pages/tank-faq

I nearly didn't sign up to this but my gym buddy with 2 kids said she was gonna do it so I didn't want to flake out. I did it this morning and got 6th place UK! So want to encourage all those thinking about it to celebrate every win. Only a small percentage of population make that leap to sign up in the first place. It's a sign of dedication and success mindset. And ignore the negative comment about posting the Deka mile instead. Surround yourself with those cheering for you instead. We all have to start our journey somewhere.

My daughter gave me the MZ 1 and I happened upon you looking for info on how to use it. Just a suggestion - you are a little hard to hear especially compared to the short burst of music at the beginning. Invest in a decent microphone - there are several options out there. I am a mobile DJ and I do not sell gear. My personal favorite is made by DJI - if that's too pricey there are many others. Improved audio will improve your audience experience. Good Luck

Good advice about training at a lower intensity as many people feel that in order to improve they just have to do Hiit all the time
Exactly! Lower intensities are great for aerobic base building, they’re so much more sustainable, and easier to recover from. There’s a time and place for HIIT, but it’s definitely not all the time!

the h10 doesn't allow you to customize your heart rate zones. even tho it updated my max heart rate, it didn't adjust my heart rate zones. i wonder if the my zone allows you to input your own heart rate zones
MZ doesn’t let you customize your HR zones to my knowledge. If you need something adjusted you could always email MyZone support, they might be able to help.

Awesome video! What knee brace is that? I have severe knee issues and squatting and other items kills it for a few days.
I had an ACL reconstruction in 2022, so this is the one I was prescribed after finishing PT. I wear it for any activities that risk rotation at the knee. It’s a Don Joy brace, it’s been really nice & it’s fairly breathable too!

Got a Garmin Epix Pro series 2 for Father’s Day. Immediately got rid of my Apple Watch Series 7. I have no regrets. I had an issue after starting two long runs from my Apple Watch, they didn’t port over to my phone. So I never started it from The watch again. With the Garmin, I can start a run with the watch, once I open the Nike Run Club app, it’s already there. So I’m sold on garmin, I’ll never go back to apple
Same! I switched to a Garmin Venu earlier this year (about to do a review video on it) and I love it! The run tracking is way better than Apple!
@@katiegarrisonfitnessit make me realize that I’ve been doing it all wrong. I go out, tell myself I’m going to run 5 miles. Start running at like a 7:30 min per mile, I’m burned out by the halfway mark. Starting with the Garmin, it had me start with base runs at around 11:30 min per mile. Seemed too slow at first, but it helped with the confidence and consistency.

Hybrid racing is one of those unique sports that brings so many different fitness communities together. It’s been awesome to see how athletes with different training backgrounds handle each race & what their strengths/weaknesses are. For my runner peeps, the workout zones are definitely the hardest part! 1. Go heavy on Deadlifts - Obviously progress slowly over time, but the DL is the king of the posterior chain & will be SO applicable across the board. 2. Aim for RPE 7-9 - Learning to lift to higher levels of fatigue (especially on compounds) will maximize your strength gains. Think 1-3 reps left in the tank at the end of your last set. 3. Prioritize Protein - Getting 1.2-2 g/Kg Bw daily will help build muscle & support your body as it’s under new training demands. No contest. As an Apple watch user since 2016, Garmin Instinct 2 has been a game changer. The GPS/Navigational features motivate me to go and get lost in the wilderness and I don’t have to worry so much about battery life.

The burpees w/ rams now require a lockout at the top of the movement, daylight over the head is no longer sufficient.
