I never could do the battle system very good on tales games but I have this one and eternia and Symphonia

I agree with your explanation but I definitely prefer the original Spider-Man game from Insomniac save from the Surge Mode added in 2. I played every Arkham game even the spin-off ones like Blackgate for the 3DS but in terms of who I prefer playing as is Spider-Man. Ironic considering that I love both Superman and Batman from DC. However, Spider-Man does a better job at engaging me and getting me invested in the plot. Albiet the plot in 2 was a hot mess. Rocksteady lost their mojo with Suicide Squad. Spider-Man 2 is imo more comparible to Arkham Origins in terms of being enjoyable enough but there was definitely something missing. However, I bought the first Spider-Man for 2 reasons: I like Spider-Man and the reviews were saying that the combat was like Arkham in certain ways.

Tales of the Abyss will always be the best for me but I do admit that despite it's flaws Tales of Graces F is poorly underrated and doesn't deserve to be. I picked up again and slowly playing it because of things in life and because of my backlog of games to go through and other hobbies. Good explanation of the game. The game truly deservers the love and nostalgia that come with it.

Letting this series just sort of die off after a fairly successful launch with Arise will forever astound me. Even the DLC they released of it reeked of them not wanting to put too many eggs in the basket despite that. I don't know, series feels like it's been in a decline since Graces and while I think Arise was...okay, it's hard to be excited for any possible futures with everything just feels like a downgrade of what came before.

Agreed. After Arise's success, instead of investing money, time and manpower into porting or remaking more mainline tales games, they instead made more unsustainable mobile gacha tales that no one wants to play like Crestoria & Luminaria. Both games shut down very quickly after due to poor income. Both were money wasted. I don't understand why Bandai Namco always keep making bad decisions when dealing with Tales. Tales as a series could have been much more popular than now, only if they made actual smart decisions instead of fumbling around. Crestoria should have been a console title in the first place, not a cheap mobile gacha scam.

I'd like to see a port for Tales of Xillia 1 & 2. As of right now they're still only for the PS 3. Steam does have most of the Tales games so far, but I NEEED THAT XILLIA!! 🥲

I been a digimon fan for so long, bandai legit hates any interesting IP they own, even DB is not handled super well (fingers crossed for Sparking Zero), FighterZ was cool but then Bandai cracked down on FREE ADVERTISING, making streamer tournaments/non-licensed tourneys illegal, Digimon no new story game since like 2015. Just getting into Tales Of, seeing that bandai treats all their IPs like this is very sad.

My favorite game of the franchise. I will defend the story. While I agree the plot is generic, the narrative is done well. Graces narrative is essentially how a person’s actions have consequences on others. It shows how others create darkness in you and how only other people can heal that darkness. I know that many people thought this was cringe but I suspect that’s because they were young. When you are young you only have a small amount of experience with the darkness that hides in our hearts. It hasn’t settled for years and show how scary it is. When we are in our mid-20s, it’s like being level 30 in a rpg. You gained considerably amount of experience, seen most of the map, starting to gain some real strength, but you really haven’t seen the truth of the world yet. It’s the point right before the meat of the plot and the real craziness starts. The point where you start to think that after everything you learned, you really didn’t know anything at all.

It should be about time Tales series gets an equivalent of the Pixel Remasters. Basically some sort of a Memorial Edition preserving the gameplay of the classic series with slight tweak to the graphics to be able to switch between 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio. They can even resell them individually or as a bundle per generation (eg: set 1 is Phantasia, Eternia, Destiny, Destiny 2, while set 2 for Symphonia, Rebirth, Laegendia,Abyss, etc). Even the early series can be ported not just to the PS5 but also to iOS/Android and Steam.

Yes it sucks I was still hoping for the PS1/PS2 games NOT Phantasia TO get a PS4 PS5 Switch port IE Destiny 1 Destiny 2 PS2 Eternia Legendia Abyss and Rebirth.

Why didn't we get any of the Tales on the DS? They made three of them and we didn't get any of them.

Edit: rebirth translation is also almost complete. A good chance that before 2024 ends all the 2D Japan exclusive titles will be 100% translated

I'm thankful for the fans and all their effort in doing what Bamco won't, but it is baffling at how much the company ignores their old catalogue compared to any other major studio. I appreciate the comparison of the f additions to Graces to what was put into the Arise DLC, or rather what wasn't put into it. It's so low effort. Your assessments are sensible; the future of Tales looks hollow and dire after its most financially successful entry. Bamco's taken a lead on Konami in franchise mismanagement 🤦‍♂

Had to sub cause you was spittin. We've been hoe'd from Tales content to many time. It baffles me that we dont have a 2d collection of their old games. Then maybe like a Vesp,Symp,Abyss triple collection and then from there own port everything else to at least PC/Switch. I also agree on the translation situation. Ive been playing Hearts R on an emulator and i dont even carr that its sub only. As long as i can read it. They hate making money i guess.

To me this is the last solid Tales of game. Xillia was good, but it was clear that game wasn't fully done. Beseria also has some rough edges. And I still have to complete Arise. But there's so much cool stuff about this game. The story is a bit rough near the end and I wish Lambda was characterized a bit better, but there's still a lot of good things about the game. My favorite part is still Hubert kicking Asbel out of the house.

The arkham games have overall better animations from contextual, to transitioning from traversal and combat thanks to batman's ability to glide kick, dive bomb which releases a Shockwave, to throwing gadgets. Speaking of gadgets batman also has unique animation for each gadgets which each with unique takedowns or stuns depending on where you are with your even dual combat and stealth is fluid as well I play these Spiderman games on ultimate and I barely feel it but they are fun. Overall I agree. Web of shadows is a good Spiderman game that perfectly represents the character's strength, speed and agility and the webstrikes and symbiote combat is unmatched in that one.

With Marvel's Spider-Man 2 I've been playing like this: thugs get webs, embers get gadgets, hunters get special abilities and symbiotes get the rage meter. For miles it's the same but I like get them all together before I release the big move Miles has. It's not always like this because sometimes one ability, gadget or take down isn't available so I just fight normally until I can use something. I also use finishers on everyone but only if I need to drop someone faster for crowd control

The combat system in the spider man games are better because you don’t lose access to traversal mechanics. You can zip, swing, dodge, point launch around the combat arena and take combat to the air seamlessly. I like Arkham combat but you lose access to traversal when you’re in combat which limits movement. I don’t understand how this gets overlooked by so many people

I'm not gonna argue your points, because for many of them I agree. But could you give a clearer definition of a better combat system? Like list the criteria you used to base your arguements. Batman's combat does have a lot of technical depth behind it as you elaborated, more than spiderman. But spiderman has far more movement options during combat, which really make the environment of the arena a very big factor, where in batman the combat arenas are usually large flat floors (excluding stealth ofc). For my credentials I have played Arkham knight and spiderman ps4 several times over at this point. Loved both of them, can't return to either due to overexposure.

What rocksteady really nailed with the combat, is not only the animations. they were very carefully picked and felt like actual moves Batman would do, without feeling like a complete Bruce Lee ripoff. The moves feel fast, precise, heavy, and sounded painful. And then incorporating gadgets into combat seamlessly without feeling too overpowered. Imo the combat was perfect in Knight. Just take away all the blue and white flashes though. Seems kind of cartoony for an M rated game

Since I just finished Rebirth and remembered I bought this game, I think I'll play through this next just so I can see if the mechanics get better. Cure Points were one of the biggest turn-offs for me for this game and i don't foresee myself ever liking them. It's even more annoying that they're called CURE POINTS but they aren't even used just for curing, but also for buffs and for....dousing flames on the overworld and stuff??? I get that they wanted to balance the game and stop players from over healing and grinding, but jeeeez, increasing the cost of Orange Gels and Life Bottles on top of Cure Points is a little too much. I think they forget people actually enjoy playing as healers from time to time lol. Oh and reducing how many battle arts we can equip was also a bizarre change, and I don't know why they wait so long to give us a second page of arts to equip...

I just need this game remastered to make up for Tales of Arise lol. And NOT that Tales of Arise is a bad game! I just haven't found myself getting very far into it (and I hope I never see "Cure Points" ever again lol). I don't think I've really enjoyed and beat a tales game as much as I have since Graces f and Xillia. Zesteria and Berseria were great, but I never got around to beating those either lol. Also thanks for explaining the critical gauge! I've put hundreds of hours into this game and just never bothered to look into what that gauge was lmfao

So, are you making a indie version of that list, i think theres a lot of good up and coming games and others that are very overlooked like Assault Spy, also Spark the electrick jester 3 is better than any attempt sega did on making sonic do character action combat

I love all of the tales games, but graces F has a special place in my heart because i played it together with my nephews. I really hope Bandai finaly ports them all over to PC

Saying that you should be able to 100% a jrpg without a guide regardless of how many playthroughs done is ridiculous. No one is going to be able to remember every minute detail in a game that takes a week worth of time to complete. Even a game as simple as Pokémon needs a guide to find catch all them in the game.

I played this 2013, this was first Tales game i played. And as i play other tales game, no other game can compare to this one. Love cast so much

This has to be THE best battle system on the entire series IMO. People giving praises to other Tales games but none of those feel as good to play as this one.

Game is sold out literally everywhere, I had the monarch edition preordered (which arrived), I thought it was going to be late (since Amazon lol), so I bought it digitally. Monarch edition arrived on time, but the GameStop copy arrived 2 weeks after release TODAY as I already have 80 hours and just rolled credits on the game. I will be astounded if this game has not sold well.

Devil Mac Cry 4 is quite honestly my favorite DMC.

This game has a hold on me like I haven't felt in a long time, the gameplay is so unique, deep and well thought out it just keeps your mind racing with all the possibilities. The game is packed full of content but never feels tedious. There's a ton of information but it teaches you at a perfect pace, while always feeling like there's more to learn. Art is beautiful, voice acting is great, creativity is just bursting out of all parts. A complete slam dunk.

Your story is hilarious to me because I did the exact same thing, the demo made me put down FF7R and I been playing unicorn overlord.

instant strategy rpg classic. Story is the weakest to me personally but doesn't ruin everything else the game has to offer. Wish I could play it on my steam deck though...
