    Upgrading to sintered pads for performance braking. Brakes are one of those key areas where Royal Enfield done a good job yet within budget, which can be improved with sintered pads as these are a hard metal compound with superior friction. I’m going to be running sintered pads both front and rear as I ride this 650 like a performance machine, if your using this to commute and not riding as aggressively I would recommend to use sintered pads in the front which will give you the 70% stopping power and organic pads in the rear as that’s best for daily riding.

    hi can you explain the rpm of 14 teeth. Because i am looking for more fun to ride than top speed

    • @GrewalsGarage
      @GrewalsGarage Месяц назад

      Hi, 14 teeth is more for torq where on higher speeds the rpms will increase. I would recommend 14th teeth if you’re building your motorcycle as an off road/touring machine, with luggage, gear, mud terrain tires and climbing off road trails, somewhat like a scrambler. 14th teeth will give you the torq to climb those hills. Hope that helps!

    • @GrewalsGarage
      @GrewalsGarage Месяц назад

      If your referring to the 4 speed motorcycles, those have a different torq delivery. These 650 engines stock 15th teeth is more than capable to tackle any hills. I would recommend to consider what you want to use it for but yes 14th teeth will not hurt in anyways will give you more punch when launching and climbing will be torqy.

    • @GrewalsGarage
      @GrewalsGarage 2 месяца назад

      thanks for watching, yes you can reuse the stock switch wires but the length will be compromised when you do a full left to right turn. You will have to solder the wires for a good connection. If your also running a handlebar raiser then length can be an issue, I would recommend swapping the connects for a secure connection to avoid any short circuits. Hope this helps!

    Hi Veer, thanks for sharing this. I'm looking to swap switches on my 2019 Interceptor as well - the 2023+ models have rotary switches by default - the info button from the super meteor LH switch is deleted, which has no use on the Interceptor. Two questions: 1. What becomes of the hand brake switch cable? - seen dangling disconnected at 12:58 2. How to wire in the hazard switch?

    • @ShashankKR
      @ShashankKR 2 месяца назад

      Hi, I've done this on my 2019 Interceptor as well. 1. The dangling ends needs to be connected to the front brake switch which is below the master cylinder. 2. You'll need to get the hazard flasher unit and wire it accordingly (part number RAC00135/B). You can use the Meteor 350's wiring diagram as reference.

    Those are the best looking switches I have seen. Have been trying to find a video like yours to see about fitting them and what they are like How does the indicator switch feel, is it positive or not, some are awful like on some of the Triumphs In the UK new vehicles have to be set up with the lights always on, it is the law, but I must admit to installing an off switch into the wiring on an older bike as I had aux lights fitted which were always on, when I took it in for the MOT (test) I made sure the switch was taped in the on position for thee headlights. They are not allowed to remove tape here. BTW, I think you have installed the clutch too far to the right, it should be next to the switchgear, then have the phone mount It looks all wrong to me, but, perhaps you prefer it that way? Sorry if I missed something Thanks for the video

    • @GrewalsGarage
      @GrewalsGarage 3 месяца назад

      Thanks for watching @blackskunk9034, the switches are great, checks all the boxes for me as far as looks and functionality. Only thing bugs me is the signal slide button as the clicking mechanism is tiny and so close as sometimes it’s hard to find neutral between left and right signal. I wish that button was little bigger. It takes some time to get used to them but will definitely not recommend these with winter thick gloves. Goal on this build for me is cafe racer look to make everything custom and slim, not everyday riding bike. And the clutch lever is not installed too far, this is not the final placement as it shows in the video, as I still had right side switch to tackle with throttle housing/grips and new levers as well. The levers should aline with the grips and should be inside of the handle bar length. Thanks for the feedback thou!

      Thanks for watching, between those two options I will go with mark 2 (chrome) because I’m big on chrome, nothing can beat a nice chromed tank with a retro RE badge. I also have a GT650 with a chrome tank. Usually folks prefer the blackout look these days and start painting over the nice chrome which makes me scratch my head. My option #1 will be mark 2 chrome then #2 option cherry red color.

    • @GrewalsGarage

      It's not difficult at all, just have to maintain it. In my opinion the 650 twin engine is a beast which Himalayan 450 single cylinder can not beat. They are two different types of bikes, with different specs, different engine displacement and made for certain activity. Himalayan 450 has a long stroke which will give you the torq for off-road touring but 650 has both torque and horsepower. Two different style of bikes, but at the end of the day a single cylinder cant beat a twin cylinder.

The info switch has a spring mechanism which can’t be held after pressing, you will have to keep pressing to scroll thru the information. Hope this answers or lmk if you were asking something else?

      I recommend them for clean cafe racer looks and the extra switch functionality they provide. Quality is better over oem plastic ones, however, only thing I do not like about them is the turn signal thump selector is too small which sometimes makes it hard to place it in the center as you go back and forth with left or right turn signals but it just takes some time to get used to them.

    You were able to wire the brake light wire into the new buttons on the right? Was thinking of putting this buttons on a hunter 350, and thane they held up well?

    • @GrewalsGarage
      @GrewalsGarage 4 месяца назад

      @japrdue the brake light wiring is different plug and play socket that we did not touch with these switches, the right side switch is only for kill switch and ignition button. You can watch my complete installation video on my channel for details. Left side switch wiring is for high beam, low beam, horn, turn signals.

    This is a great build! I have been looking for a chrome seat cowl because I have the same bike, if you don’t mind me asking, where did you get yours?? And does this build help with the aerodynamics of the bike? I tend to start getting speed wobbles around 85-90 mph.

    • @GrewalsGarage
      @GrewalsGarage 5 месяцев назад

      Thanks for watching @santizuleta7600 The seat cowl I bought from eBay here is the link www.ebay.com/itm/264669271373?chn=ps&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A1E0xTXEbTQbm17DAWyMKMeg98&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=264669271373&targetid=1644837436203&device=m&mktype=pla&googleloc=9032139&poi=&campaignid=20389335750&mkgroupid=154492026431&rlsatarget=pla-1644837436203&abcId=9317283&merchantid=113421866&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_QDh_lylFZt5ziaMOSI1-5Lsi3c It’s sold in solid euro 4 colors. I painted the chrome and pin-striping myself to match the fuel tank. The headlight fairing does help with aerodynamics as it pushes most of the air over the helmet if you’re tucked close to the fuel tank, however speed wobbles continue to be there in high 80-90. These 650s are not so smooth on higher speeds compared to a super sport bike but for what’s it’s built, it delivers more than enough!

    I believe you can use washers and bolts to hold the air filter in when going to an open air filter set up.

    Hey Grewal, did you ever post a part 2 for the right side switchgear + throttle assembly? I'm working on a similar upgrade and would love to see the process

    • @GrewalsGarage
      @GrewalsGarage 6 месяцев назад

      Thanks for watching @supraman320 unfortunately didn’t get to film the second part for the right side. However, I’m using the domino kit for the throttle where you will need new cables as well since the stock ones will not work. The right switch wiring is easy as I showed towards the end of the video. You can email me grewalsgarage@gmail.com for any questions or if you need quick video of the setup. Also checkout my RUclips shorts, I have posted some related to the throttle setup! Thanks for watching!

    I bought my C500 new.. It didnt have that tin on the bike.. From what I understand the charcoal can is behind the engine right next to where the center stand bolts to the bike..

    • @GrewalsGarage
      @GrewalsGarage 6 месяцев назад

      Hey @sirgalah561 thanks for watching and yes this canister can give hiccups specially when fuel travels in those purge valve lines. On the new REs the box has shifted behind the engine closer to the center stand. RE did the same for the new 350 classic models but I still don’t like that design cuz that box is gonna take a beating if your going over bumps, then either way you will need a new one. I just like the simplicity and not a fan of over-engineering.

    I’m actually thinking about getting the same bumper the stubby version I see on extreme terrain you can basically outfit what you want on it as far as a safety hooks I see it does come with fog lights did yours come with them or are you going aftermarket, I like the look Good video

    • @GrewalsGarage
      @GrewalsGarage 7 месяцев назад

      thanks for watching @soldier42mp92 I bought this directly from rival4x4 website and the fog lights do not come with the bumper. You can use the stock bumper fog lights or aftermarket. I went with this look, ruclips.net/user/shorts6au5zn0h_NM In this video you can see the aftermarket fog lights set in the bumper with a pair of KC lights.

    Under my 2018 bullet efi 500 fuel tank I have : fuel pump and hose going to efi system and two other hoses: first going under bije and second to canister. Can I just blind that hole under the fuel tank and left all hoses without disconnected them?

    • @GrewalsGarage
      @GrewalsGarage 8 месяцев назад

      Thanks for watching @tomekw6 I recommend removing the canister system as shown in video however if your not trying to remove any parts, then you can remove the hose coming from the tank that attaches to the purge valve and attach a long hose to the tank and let it drain near the rear end of the bike (this is for, if you overfill the tank and put the bike on side stand, then the fuel will exist thru this hose and not drip on the head). I do not recommend plugging the hose coming from the tank cuz these tanks do not have a went, and the fuel vapor pressure needs to exist at some point. Hope this helps!

    My 2021 RE500 classic has cannister at bottom rear of the engine. If overfilled and parked in the sun or on the side stand while you get a Macca's burger & coffee, it has a tendency to not want to start for a least half an hour. I suspect the ECU has some start prevention circuitry that is triggered by a delivery system sensor as the fuel pump is not activated when you turn on the ignition and will not prime the system. New ride rule: fill up AFTER your Macca's stop, keep the level below the fill neck base. Jump on it and go. Happy Days are here again.....

      My bike is the same as yours. The canister is in the same place. I too learned that over filling it then parking in the sun on the side stand the bike is going to have a pee.. I was having a banana split at the time. I put the bike on the centersrand and by the time I finished my sundae the bike had stopped urinating and started right up.. Lesson learned - fill it to just under that metal thing in the tank and dont park it with a full tank in the sun..
