I agree about the airplane food. It’s not the end of the world. I have gotten food poisoning once from it. But as long as it’s safe to eat people need to stop complaining about it.

8:33 I'm scared of putting too much perfume on as well, especially because once you have it on you you can get used to it. I also put it only on my wrists or around the hips.

Can’t disagree more on the neck pillow on a long-haul flight. The Cabeau Evolution Cooling Pillow is well built, supportive, has indentations for over ear noise cancelling headphones and it allows airflow. If you’re in First or Business Class you won’t need it.

Will be going with lighest cheapest 30l and packabke daypack both less than 1 lb in total unpacked cabt risk not carrying on after last experience.. will be hard longterm as need large stock of meds and warmer clothes. They say wash overnight items but they dont dry for a couple of days in hostel dorms. If have to pay priority boarding will just to kerp my stuff safe where I go it will especialky on buses. My bag was put out twice at wrong stops plus airline lost it for 2 werks zero compensation.

Thanks for the update 😁 I'm an Aussie who has been following you I think since I was still at university (so maybe the last 5 years? Crazy!). Back then all I wanted to do was travel, and now after finally going on a 5 month solo trip in 2022 and another (very spontaneous) 5 month solo trip in 2023, I'm so burnt out from travel. I'm so, so grateful for those opportunities, but I've just turned 28 and my health is absolutely not as good as it used to be! For 10 months of the last 17 months I've been travelling around hostels in Europe (shitty sleep) and drinking too much and not cooking enough. It has unfortunately taken a toll, and I almost came home early from my last trip because my hair was falling out and I even started eating meat again because I felt so, so low in energy the last few months (I was vegetarian for 8 years, but after 3 months in the Balkans with hardly any fresh Veggies during that time living off cheese and bread, I finally had to admit to myself I was struggling big time). Thank you for touching on that aspect of long-term travel! I wouldn't change my travel experiences for the world, but I wished I didn't live so far from Europe so I could have a base for shorter trips to continue my gym routine and healthy cooking in the meantime. No matter what I tried, when in hostels I just cannot live a healthy lifestyle. Currently I'm back at my parents house while I look for a job, and after quitting my job to travel 2 years in a row, I'm ready to do the 'normal' thing and start focusing on my career. I have a boyfriend who lives in Germany now and ultimately I want to live in Europe, but I have to save first and take this time to prioritise my health and change careers into something that will give me more flexibility to continue to travel in the future - just maybe not for 5 months in a row anymore 😅 Thank you for reading this. It's been a weird few weeks of accepting that, at least for now, other things have to come first aside from travel for a change. I'm looking forward to the next steps, but it really feels like the end of a chapter in my life that went on for years (no thanks to covid) that focused all my time and money towards travel. So it felt nice this morning to watch this and know I'm not alone. It also helped me get excited for this year back in Australia, which I've kind of been dreading tbh. Good luck on the next step, enjoy being back in NZ, and looking forward to the new content 😊❤

There is nothing worse than people banging doors. Use the door handle to open and close it as silently as possible. It might take a second longer but that way you won't disturb others. It doesn't matter if it is at night when everyone is asleep or if awake. If every two minutes someone enters and leaves a room, it is incredibly annoying. Or when people decide to pack at 6 in the morning. Do it the day before, leave it ready so when you get up in the morning, you make as little noise as possible. There are also people who have incredibly loud alarms. I understand that no one can wake up with a very quiet alarm like I can, but having a heart attack from the scare in the morning is not cool. People who steal stuff... I really don't get it. Be it "just" a charger, food from the fridge or anything else. Why??? Hahahaha. "A lunatic with a giant bag... I don't have anything else to say" xD I so agree. Whenever I see people with those huge suitcases I just wonder if they are moving to another country. When it comes to the showers, if I could disinfect it before I get in, I would probably not use flip flops. You are still at risk of getting (toe nail) fungus anyway, but it gives me more peace of mind to wear them. Maybe run the water for a couple of seconds so the dirt goes into the drain. But in general it'd be nice if people were more clean. Remove the hair you leave in the sink, clean up the toothpaste you splashed on the mirror, etc. Cool video. Thanks!

Great vid. I’ve done plenty of tours but not much of africa and was looking at the Absolute Africa tours. Sound fun & glad to hear there is a guide as the website wasn’t clear. Tent living for 6 weeks is a bit much tho. Plus group whinge is always a laugh 😂.

I love the suggestion of bringing herbal tea and some fake Baraka for that extra boost of vitamins and minerals. It's like a preventive measure against feeling drained during and after the flight. And having wet wipes, a toothbrush, toothpaste, sanitizer, hairbrush, and deodorant in your in-flight pouch is a genius move. Tip. I never travel with white “smalls”. I’ve left far too many white items behind on an unmade bed as I departed foggy eyed and half only half awake. Far better to stay with a neutral. Hotel linen is always white !

I loved your point at the end about figuring out what works for you and packing accordingly. I know I can travel with the absolute bare minimum but there are other things that make travelling way more comfortable, and I'm happy to carry them with me :) That said learning to travel with a backpack has been life changing!

I’ll never ditch the pillow! I’m short and those headrest flaps aren’t made for me.

They now sell a neck pillow that’s empty that can be packed with your clothes to fill to your desire of comfort. That way you can actually add space to your luggage and the pillow serves two purposes.

I usually just buy shampoo and conditioner when I get to my location and leave them there to get binned but gonna try the shampoo and conditioner bars this time! Also gonna try a face cleanser bar instead of wasting space with skincare :))
