"Ladies Nite in Buffalo" guitar solo (David Lee Roth/Steve Vai)
Here's a quick rendition of my take on "Ladies Nite in Buffalo", by the mighty Steve Vai.
One of my favourite songs from the album "Eat Em And Smile", released in 1986.
Gear used:
No real amps were used in tis video, just my good old Logic 10 plugins and a bit of sweat.
Guitar: LSL Saticoy Custom
I've done two versions, one for my youtube channel and another for my instagram, which was the first one that I have uploaded.
Basically the same video, but mixed in totally different ways.
Here you can hear a stereo version of it, just like Steve have recorded.
Despite not having the right plugins such as the Roland SDE 3000 delay used by many names back in the 80's (some even nowadays), I've trie...

You have to do a lot to those amps to get the right compression and sustain in the room but the pedal gets so much closer to recorded sounds.
My original 2000 Pod is hard wired into my digital recorder. I use it for every guitar and bass track I record. I just got a backup for $40 to use as the front end to my JC-120 stereo power amp inputs for big gigs.
I remember jamming with a mate back when this first came out. I had my old Laney tube amp and he just had this into studio monitors. I was blown away how good it sounded. I play a helix now!
My TBone One is as good as my CS...more fun to play. My fav of over 50 guitars I've owned since 2012. Almost got a Saticoy last week...dealer wouldn't deal. Lefty here. So, dropped some old Zexcoil pups into my '93 MIA Strat...WoW!! Still....I want a Saticoy...
Great video, love the purple lighting
Would you recommend this pedal more than the Boss TR2? I want a trem pedal to play some REM stuff. Thanks!
Hey, thanks for watching! I’d most likely go for the Boss for two reasons, they are bulletproof, like literally 😅 The other is the sound, I like it best. But the tuna melt is the underdog, which means that it can really surprise you, specially if you are on a budget but have time to mess around with it. I don’t own a boss tho, but so far the Tuna melt has been my go too tremolo whenever I need it on my board.
Thanks for the comparison!
i listen to this almost everyday Glauco, It's jst amazing! Can't wait for the tutorial!
I own one of these Tokai models in exactly the same colour. I had my local Tokai dealer retro fit a varitone switch. It’s easily my favourite guitar.
Enjoy your playing and tones from these low power amps. Thank you.
Really enjoyed your video and your playing! Just picked up a good condition POD 2.0 from Reverb yesterday! :-)
Rock on! Thanks for watching 🙌
Oh shit I have both of these but only play my spark positive grid now
Hey thanks for watching! I’ve heard about the Spark amp but never had the chance to try it out. I guess it’s similar to the Marshall Code? One thing I know is that what I’ve paid for both Epiphone and Fly 3 was cheaper than most modern options, really budget friendly if you get them secondhand
I have not heard of that Marshall code but you have peaked my interest. I’ve owned countless amps over the years, and this is far superior to anything I have ever owned for what I use it. I only play on smaller amps now it’s got a bunch of different amp models and pedals but I really only use the Marshall plexi /Tube screamer. The spark “Control” is a must to buy with it. Before this I swore by my Blackstar, as I travel for work and need stuff that I can easily carry on an airplane. Sorry for the novel 🙃
That song i always heard when i got kicked for shooting another hunter.
😅 I hope you mean when you hit a hunter while playing the game 😂

People (ie 'guitar players') get way too caught up in that mythological tube tone thing, and forget to just listen. So many tones on albums are solid state amps and digital modelling. Line 6 has been killing it for decades.
True story! I think mostly it’s about feel, the main difference to me is in terms of latency and sensitivity. But I was very impressed with the results. Some of my favourite players use a Roland jazz chorus as a clean platform, and it’s absolutely amazing to hear those clean tones from it, not to mention the chorus effect itself.
I've waited 2 years for the Glauco guitar fix and it's only 39 sec! only joking, love it. HNY from UK Bullet MC club!
Howdy Sir! Sorry for taking a hiatus due to life circumstances. Good to know that you’re still here!
Insider tip for all of us... Bypass the cab simuls and use impulse response. 👍
I've had three Pods 2.0 over the years. The last one is a keeper as it is compatible with my huge Floorboard (labeled "pedal" and not fbv pedal). I still have my Flextone amp and the wonderful grey Bass POD. And yes, I have a Helix..😊 Thanks for your video. We are a big crowd, those of us who cherish our old POD red bean. 👍
I ran a POD 2.0 and Tube Screamer pedal into a solid state Marshall head for live gigs for years. No one knew the difference, even fooled a couple of guitar players in other bands on the bill into thinking I was using a hot-rodded Marshall tube head! One simply refused to believe that the sound was coming from the little red bean!
Thanks for watching my video and sharing with us your feedback! It means a lot! If you don’t mind me asking, how did you run it? Did you use the send/return on the amp? Direct mode or air? And signal chain? Last question, do you have videos using you gear that way?
@@GlaucoAlves I plugged it into the back of a Marshall solid state head, just used the power, all the tones came from the POD and Tube Screamer at the end. I’m sure there were better ways to do it, but that’s what worked. How can I send you links without pasting in this thread?
Here's a couple iconic partscasters to mentioned. Terry Kath's Pignose Telecaster and Danny Gatton's Telecaster...
I didn’t know Danny’s tele was a partscaster. Well, I guess I should have considering he was also a mechanic 😅
Thanks for the demo. I have this amp for harmonica (it has a great tone for harmonica). Question, for recording, I find the amp has a huge 'buzz' when the volume goes past 11 o'clock. I have opened it up and clipped off all the access wires from the transformer (something that was suggested by an amp tech on you tube). I changed the tube. Does your's buzz? If not, did you do anything to modify it to stay quiet? If not, how can you record with all that buzzing? Thanks again -I enjoyed this video.
I have a number of Tokai guitars and I own the same guitar as you have demonstrated but with the es345 varitone switch. It’s my favourite guitar.

I have an identical one. It was my father s guitar… ❤
👍😎 way go to dude, something recognizable to gauge it's strength I like the TUna melt here ! ther are sooooooo many vids on RUclips but no worthwhile demos. Thanks
Much appreciated 🙌
Love the fantastic rockabilly sound Glauco. I would love to hear your band doing some of this. I stumbled upon a performance years back at an outdoor hot rod show in Ventura CA. It was band with Albert Lee and another older astonishing rockabilly artists who I was not familiar with. They absolutely killed it that day. The people in the crowd were actually dumfounded by their virtuosity in this genre; not expecting it !
Thanks for the comment and sharing your story! Good music and musicianship never fails! I do cover some early rockabilly songs with one of my events band, we go pretty much from blues to heavy metal sometimes even during the same event. If you check @the_jukeboxes_band on Instagram that’s where I mainly post band material.

Love ny Valve jr. Bought new in 2007. Changed the speaker.
Hey, thanks for watching and sharing your feedback! 🙏 And absolutely, great little amps! I’ve replaced my speaker too, I bought it cheap because the original speaker wasn’t in good shape. Check out my Layla tribute video, it’s only the valve Jr a guitar and a cable, no pedals or fancy EQ’s! All recorded into a Zoom recorder and a SM57 mic 😬
The Wampler sounds closer to the record the Marshall is too bright
What else do you need?
Y'all need to figure out how to construct a reverse headstock Tele.
Wonderful Land by the Shadows!!!
Hey Neil, similar. That one is called “Apache”.
Just bought my one. It's my first gadget for a newbie on guitar. Very fun and keeps me motivated to explore the instrument, because I was already geeting borrowed while I can't play well. I got an used one by 45 euro.
Cool video! I also have a JV Squier strat. It could do with a refret now, so was wondering what fret wire you used? I was thinking of tall vintage, but would appreciate your thoughts.
great music! heyy from nyc...I have the same guitar!
Hey from UK! Lance knows how to build quality guitars. Thanks for stopping by and watching it! 🙏
@@GlaucoAlves oh wow didnt know u were in the uk! I have a carr super bee amp..a super reverb type..Im not a pedal guy but could you recommend a great od distortion pedal for the saticoy?? thanks
@@sooparticular I think it really all comes to personal taste and applications in the end. But that said, I’d start with overdrive pedals before moving to distortion or fuzz. If you have a good amp and you are used to play with it at breaking point, then all you need is a good OD pedal. But if your amp is super clean with and loud, you might need to combine pedals and here is why. If your amp has plenty of headroom and you place a distortion pedal in front of it, you will have less chances to find something suitable as a pedal. My go to in that case would be a Wampler Pinnacle or a PROco RAT, great and inexpensive. Also a fuzz pedal would be nice. If you think of Metallica using Ibanez Tube Screamer to push air, that doesn’t make sense right? But yeah, that’s exactly what they used. Secret is always loud amps already breaking. But if you want more finesse, try OD pedals, even the Boss OD1 is great and cheap.

Not at the moment but thanks for asking and watching the video!
The lead singer's voice here fit's this and the original better than Eric Clapton. Not easy to find a tone good enough to match or surpass the fit. Doesn't matter if you can just hit the notes. You have to have the tone. You can only work with what you're born with.
This is great!
Much appreciated, thanks!
