Nice tag and interesting answers! I love libraries, too! They're such a huge treasure trove of riches! ❤ No library book sales? What?!? Oh, they're so great! Sounds like you have a wonderful library system there. I often have a shelf full of holds to pick up from the library. I think they definitely know my name. 😊
@@WildHeartsandWildflowers thanks Kim! I love having loads of books waiting for me at the library, bringing them home and looking through them all! It's such a treat 😊
Libraries definitely need more love, great tag!!
@@AbiofPellinor thank you! 😊
Libraries have been a vital part of my life for over 60 years. This was a fun tag.
@@susan3037 libraries are just the best thing 😊📚 thanks for watching!
So amazed that you have three libraries and you are so great supporting them 😊
@@novellenovels thanks Emily 😊
I *ALWAYS fall asleep when there are movies on. Thats how I know it’s a good one if I stay awake 😂(*not in the cinema 👀-well maybe a couple times 😝💤) Great answers! Thank you for tagging me!! ❤
@@CharlieBrookReads no pressure of course, just if you fancy it 😊
Oh, I meant to ask: are libraries in the UK privately owned or are they run by the city? Is it free or do you have to pay like a fee? Here in Sweden it's actually law that every town must have a public library. All funded by the town. However, it really varies from town to town. In bigger cities, libraries are open every day of the week. In smaller towns, not so. As long as a town has a library, they are following the law, even if it's open just one day a week or so.
@@evalindqvist1253 that's amazing that there is a law like that. Here, libraries are run by the council so it's all free but sadly libraries are slowly closing down so there's fewer than there used to be.
@@jenniferlovesbooks It's all bout the money .....
@@evalindqvist1253 sadly, yes 😢
I read almost only library books, even though we have like a complete library of our own. 😂 It's a mental thing, I think. When it's a library book, you have to read it before it's due back. The book you own, you have all the time in the world to read. However, we really don't buy books anymore. Happens occasinally, if I read a book & really like it, I might buy it. Don't go to the library that often, I find the books I want on the library's web site, then I e-mail my husband. He's a librarian. Perfect!
@@evalindqvist1253 how lovely to be married to a librarian! Yes, I totally agree, my owned books tend to get neglected for my library books!
3 libraries?! Lucky duck! 😂With the ebooks, did you read on an eReader or your phone? I hate reading on my phone but have rarely done so when I had no other way. 10-99 renewels! 😮 That's unheard of here. 3 is the max.
@@toweringtbr we have a tablet that I use if I'm reading an e-book. It's better than using my phone but I still don't really like it. I am very lucky to have access to so many libraries 😊📚
I love the idea of a film book group, now I want to start one myself 😂 I think I’ll have to do this tag, but my answers will probably be almost identical to yours. Librarians definitely know your name if you get regular holds. We know all of you 🤣
@@JentheLibrarianreads oh yes, please do the tag, I just love hearing people talk about libraries, I'm tagging you now 😊 Haha, that sounds slightly menacing 😂
@ well now I’ve been bullied into it I guess I’ll just have to do it, oh no what a shame 😂

Enjoyed yr video and book tips, I remember finding 1984 rivetting, Kate Atkinson excellent - though I have not read Life after life, not so much Ishiguro tbh, must check out My Cousin Rachel, (my top ten would always include 'And then there were none' - maybe because I read it so young, but it still fascinates ) best regards
@@patricksexton702 And Then There Were None is one of my favourite mystery novels, it's a classic!
I hope you end up liking The Anniversary because I just put it on hold after hearing you talk about it!
Love love love this! Can’t wait to start opening mine. Thanks for the inspo!
@@BookishAdventuresInWellbeing can't wait to see yours! 😊📚
I've only read 1 Grady Hendrix book which was the Southern Vampire one and loathed it, but I can't deny that the cover art on My Best Friend's Exorcism is some of the best I've seen.
I'm glad you had another 5 star book! You hated The Last Murder at the end of the world?? I gave it 3 stars and liked the twist but agree that it was quite messy.
@@toweringtbr I think I just found it really annoying and frustrating.
I plan to read Make the Season Bright too, a bit before Christmas. Are you planning to read it soon?
@@toweringtbr I'll read it in December but not sure whether to read it early on or wait til nearer Christmas, how about you?
@jenniferlovesbooks I was thinking a few days before Christmas. If you want, we could chat about it on Voxer. (If you're too busy, I completely understand. )
@toweringtbr that would be good! I'll hopefully have some time off work then so that should work well 😊
Thank you. Enjoying your channel.
Thank you - very interesting list. I loved Frankenstein when I eventually read it in my 40s. Also thought 1984 was good. Haven't read the others but hope to try one or two of them one day. Loved Du Marier's Rebecca! And did the play version of My Cousin Rachel once. Love others of Ishiguro that I have read - not tried Remains of the Day. Glad to find your channel. Thanks for this lovely video.
@@hopeisthething1965 thanks for watching!

Hi, Jennifer! Just found your channel and looking forward to following your reading journey. 😊 What an interesting video this one is! So many different kinds of books! Glad you warned us off 'The Last Murder at the End of the World' - that was recommended by a friend, but it really doesn't sound like my cup of tea. ☺️ The book of poetry sounds wonderful. Definitely picking up a couple copies of it - one for me and one for a gift! Thanks so much for sharing what you've been reading. ~ Kim

!!! tell me the word that was in gideon the ninth, i HAVe to kno!! also i loved hearing u talk abt the well of loneliness... i like to think of it as a novel that is an 'and', in the sense that its absolutely a lesbian novel & it was written to be a lesbian novel by the author etc AND i also think its a trans novel too & altho i dont think u ~need to read stephen as trans, she can definitely be read that way very easily & gender & sexuality isnt always seperatable anyway! that being said it is a v sad book imo lol but super iconic lol <3
@@actual-spinster yes, totally agree with everything you say about The Well of Loneliness and I think I'll come to appreciate it more when I reread it. It's a great book, so glad that I finally read it.
Hi, I'm one of the new followers that found your channel through that video you mentioned. I thought, anyone who loves Frankenstein most have good taste. Love hearing you telling about books, really inspiring. I'm impressed by how much you read! You must be a fast reader & obviously don't have Netflix. 😉 No reading tips from me, I have only read Swedish books recently, that's not been translated to English. Also, been reading mostly biographies. Anyway, just wanted to say Hi & thanks!
@@evalindqvist1253 thanks so much for watching and commenting! Haha, we do have Netflix but I don't watch a lot of TV, I'd much rather read a book!

@@pickledbeetroots4413 congratulations on your new job! Ah, that's so nice of you to say because I was worried that nobody would watch a 50-min video 🙈
Great haul! You’ve got some happy reading time ahead!
@@susan3037 thank you!
I have several copies of Seventeenth Summer by Maureen Daly which is my favorite book. I like having the hardcover that has color drawings throughout. I recently started listening to the book on tape but got immediately turned off. I've thought of it being made into a movie or TV series but it didn't seem like it could ever be done justice to. I haven't read any Sarah Waters but I did buy one - can't remember the name of it though and I won't be able to get to it for quite a while.
@@betsymaher9489 I've not heard of Seventeenth Summer, I'll have to look it up!

I read Remains of the Day after I'd seen the movie. I really enjoyed the movie more though. I love the movie.
I love that you bought books because you didn't want them to feel bad! You are my people! Also, A Room with a View is absolutely delightful. I haven't read Maurice, so I can't compare them, but A Room with a View is a comfort read for me.

@@Dottiemi I've read a few Kate Atkinson but not many. Which are your favourites?
@@jenniferlovesbooks I particularly liked the first couple of Jackson Brodie series Case Histories and One Good Turn. I have the latest Death At The Sign of The Rook to read soon. Also Transcription is very good. Did you know that Ursula's brother is the protagonist of A God in Ruins?
