A Simple Palate

Добавлен 1 окт 2014
Welcome! My name is Bethany Kramer, and I love cooking Italian-American classics and everything in between. Most of my recipes I learned by cooking with my mom and relatives over the years. Inspired by Sunday Dinners around the table, laughing and conversing over meals that were made from scratch with lots of love and care. My hope is that you feel that connection and get inspired to cook along with me for your own loved ones.
All of my videos have step-by-step recipe instructions and the best tips I know so you can easily follow along and be successful no matter your experience. Be sure to visit my website, asimplepalate.com to explore all of my recipes.

First time viewer here. Beaty, class and amazing food. Her husband is winning on so many levels.
I followed your meatball recipe and just made the best meatballs I’ve ever had. And it was my first time making him meatballs. Thanks for sharing ✝️🙏🇺🇸😎
That means so much to hear! Thank you for sharing. Thrilled you loved them:)
Cream corn, corn kernels, diced green chilis, (lose the buttermilk) half/half. Had to your mix and voila: Perfection. Yours looks pretty darn good, Simple.
Bethany must not like chewing on camera.... haha I've never seen her actually take a bite.... 🙂
I don’t particularly enjoy eating on camera 😂 but since this video I have gotten a little more used to it
This is interesting coming from an Italian family I've never seen meatballs made quite this way but you never said anything about your sauce the sauce makes some of the flavor of the meatball it absorbs into the meatball and you're getting that too so it would have been nice to include your sauce recipe
Hey Bethany. I know I'm asking about an older video, but it's new to me. :) What's the term you say at 1:58? I didn't understand it and closed captions was confused too. Loved the use of cholula. Good call by Drew. My brother turned me on to that before he died and now I can't have eggs without it. Always reminds me of him too. I really enjoy all the stories you tell and how you explain why you are doing something. You have such a nice conversational style. Too many channels have people awkwardly reading scripts and that's so unnatural. Your videos are reminiscent of Giada's to me. Keep up the great work.
Of course! Sorry I didn't explain that, "Mise en place" is french for just prepping ingredients. So I mainly just meant if you want to chop all the ingredients ahead of making everything, you can do that:) And I really appreciate the kind words! It means a lot to get feedback like that. So thank you for watching! I'm certainly no Giada, but grew up watching and admiring her. Thank you so much for the compliment🥰
@ ahh, fancy French culinary terms. Good to know. I gathered that from the context but was unfamiliar with the term. Now I know. Thanks for teaching us something new. Well, me anyway.
Cheese, always cheese, layers and layers of cheese, no matter what.
Definitely not Southern style but looks great. Btw in the South we grease the dish with butter or bacon grease ( and not so sweet)
Are you Mormon?
Those look great. Iusually get Korean BBQ on my wings. Try some Gochujang in your sauce for Korean flavor.
I made your chilli and grew up on the east coast, always had beans in my chilli, so that's the way I make it. Couldn't imagine it without beans.
I couldn’t imagine it without beans either! And I hope you enjoyed the chili 😊
Made this today, I love it! Thank you once again!
So happy to hear you loved it! You're so welcome😊
I just made this chili and it turned out amazing. I doubled it because I didn’t want to cook it again this week😊. I followed your method to a (T) and am pretty sure it’s the best chili I’ve ever made. That’s saying a lot because being from Michigan I have cooked and eaten my share of chili this time of year. I also made your Italian meat sauce, a couple weeks back and that again turned out great. I’m glad I found your channel and plan to continue watching. I am subscribed and would advise others to do so as well.
Just give me a fork, chair, napkin, and I'll l pull up to the counter! Those potatoes are all I need... Oh, and maybe a couple slices of your homemade bread!! 😂👍🏽
Hard to listen to that voice - drops down to a low raspy volume - isn't that a southern CA teenager thing?
What the name of your cookbook? What restaurant did you work at?
Parchment paper, Use it one time there's no going back. I never bake without it. I even make my homemade pizza on parchment paper, then side it on the pizza stone, it still browns on the bottom.
Cheese does NOT belong on chili. Period.
I grew up in Mississippi on plain old southern cornbread. I really want to give this recipe a try.
I hope you enjoy it if you try it!!
Ya' lost me at "add a carrot". Carrots don't belong in pasta sauce ever. I will die on this hill and I still don't know why people use them when it adds nothing to the sauce that your tomatoes can't already do.
Forgive me if I forgotten, have you added either creamed corn or some canned corn to the mix?
No creamed corn, but I know it's in a lot of cornbread recipes!
Frying fish and chicken soaked in buttermilk is the bomb Stepf!
Haha I enjoyed your chili comment. In Canada 🇨🇦 we sometimes make our chili 🌶 with Moosemeat so take that Texas 😂❤
lol! That's the first I've heard of moose in a dish!
👏🇨🇦
Have to put whole tomatoes in great chile
The only way to make Chile is with beans , I'm 61 and I've never heard of Chile without beans, Georgia Chile has beans, Texas Chile has beans , the best Chile in the world has beans , Chile beans, kidney beans, black beans
Are you a professional chef? You are so good.
no,no, no. Cornbread has to be repeat has to be baked in a cast iron skillet. Try it again.
@@barryrickert6544 I don’t like cast iron for this, I feel it drys it out too much. It’s okay to have different ways to make it!
no need for Kosher salt. hello America - the rest of the world is watching RUclips
Love it and your channel. Have struggled many times with this! Admittedly get frustrated and lose patience with certain baking chores. This is one for sure. My Son loved bbq ribs and brisket. Marinate and grill is easy. Veggies easy. Cornbread was always my Waterloo. A few were edible, but nothing like this, thank you and God bless you, yours and all fans. Ciao.
Appreciate it so much, Nick! Oh cornbread and ribs go so well together! I forgot to even mention barbecue dishes, I think, because it's winter time and I'm focused on comfort foods haha. Thanks so much again, Nick!
Growing my san marzano.
💛💛 Thank you!
I really enjoy this channel-Dave in Ontario
I appreciate hearing it so much! Thank you, Dave :)
Shouldn't you brown your ground meat first so that you can drain all that bad oil?
Thank you for the cornbread recipe and you're right there is so many variations of it you can't go wrong with one or the other. That was funny you mentioning the chili 🤣 I think people should make it the way they want. Like all recipes just adapt them to your liking.
😅 I couldn't agree more! Life is too short to fuss about that stuff. I am happy to try many different chili variations!
@Asimplepalate It's always good to try new foods even if it's similar. By some chance if you don't like it at least you gave it a chance however with some disqualification foods apply.
I have two hug Balls😂😂😂
Wonderful recipe, going to try. What is your sauce consist of. What are the ingredients and amounts used. Thanks so much.
