Yes! You said it the best. Good tip for this one is to always ask “what is my purpose for comparing” and “what are my expectations when comparing”, just to check if whatever your answer is, is it realistic and actually beneficial for you.

Thank you Dani! There are always two sides of the same coin. And one should never lose their 'why'. Competing is so much fun but it doesn't mean that it's the only thing that comes with it . :)

That’s a tough one! I believe there is no such thing as wasted practice. If we look at research to see what individual cognitive skills are needed for puzzling, I think at least mental rotation development is something that online puzzling taps into. However, it can be hard to measure as the benefit of it will get mixed with the overall development of getting faster with speed puzzling. Conclusion: can be helpful but probably not the most significant factor in getting faster (individual cases excluded).
