@dmitriystrong3442 Thank you, and thx for watching 👀.
Great video.
@blackwolf073 Thank you, and thx for watching 👀.
@@pawpawchronicles-n-morewit1210 you're welcome. Subscribed.👍👍
nice content. my advice is to film horizontal to fit better onto a computer screen or tv to see much better
I have yet to find a pecan that could survive the winters here in southeast Wisconsin. Do you have any suggestions?
@drexellay5423 what zone are you. Try cliff England
@@pawpawchronicles-n-morewit1210 I am in 5b Right on the shores of lake Michigan
@drexellay5423 the ones in the video came from Cliffe England and are rated for zone 5.
Hey Jim, I have heavy red clay soil in my area. would it be worth it to use an auger to make a 24-30in wide by 3-4ft deep hole and mix in compost in for the pawpaw tree?
@@danielbrown7231 I would. Thx for watching 👀
I have a question.. is it true that grafted cultivators will die back after 8 years or more of fruit production? With the root sending up suckers after?
@ruinsumn the care of the tree is the importance behind the longevity.
@@pawpawchronicles-n-morewit1210 I have hundreds of seedlings. Do you sell Scion wood? I have been getting my paw paw seeds from England Orchards.. good guy..
I'll drink to that, Jim. 🍻
in the Netherlands We love Katjang pedis
Hey Jim! I've been curious about pawpaws for a few years and wanted to add some to my yard. I've found some in the past out in the woods and I was thinking about transplanting them. I'm cautious because I read they don't transplant very easily. Any experience or suggestions you could share? Any precautions or preparations to consider prior to attempting this? Thank you for your time and advice.
@@WesleyJSnellgrove There are videos on this channel about the subject.
hopefully someday you can show the root structure of the pawpaw in one of those bags when the time comes 🙏
@derekfarealz I have plans of illustrating that in the future. Thx for watching 👀.
Always teaching, Jim. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and educating.
@@kevinpamer8493 thx for watching 👀
Excellent experiment. Keep us posted. I wonder of this would work on grafted growth as well?
@@Its.Just.Me.You.See. I would not try it on a grafted tree for the first year. Thx for watching 👀
@@pawpawchronicles-n-morewit1210 ok thanks
My trees have a tendency to be more bush like, instead of one central trunk. Any suggestions?
This is depressing. All that work and you couldn't kill that sucker? I have a zillion of them coming up in my garden from a 30' Native PawPaw in my garden.
Its hard find a good metal watering can anymore . They dont make em like they used to.
Yes they are. Thx for watching 👀 😊
Beautiful trees
Thx for watching 😊
I save a year by making this to full sun
I can't wait for the result!!!!!
@@linhhoang-gm7me thx for watching 👀 🙏
That's an interesting experiment Jim, I want to see how they do. Thanks for sharing.
@megawatt13 I will. Thanks for watching 👀
Good experiment, anxious to see how it turns out .
I think these paw paw trees dont mind defoliation early on because of that 7 inch long taproot that drops down before any leaves even grow. In this situation the defoliation seems like it should also slow root growth temporarily allowing you to keep them in the pots slightly longer.
@@slamrock17 interesting concept about the roots. Thx for watching 👀
thanks for running the experiment Jim! good way to move growing pawpaws forward. edit: sorry i missed your reply to my comment from the other day. do you think that pawpaws can reliably fruit from containers given adequate water and nutrition? could even be in large root pruning containers.
@@derekfarealz I believe so, given the right conditions. Thx for watching 👀
great experiment! I look forward to seeing your results. I think they will grow well.
Thx for watching
England Orchards is who i buy all my seeds from to start my seedlings. Next year will be my first grafts..
I have some pawpaws growing wild near me in SE MS. Any experience transplanting them? Suggestions/precautions? Any reason you're not mulching around yours? It would help retain water, hinder grass growth and breakdown over time feeding the soil.
Do you sell pawpaw trees?
@@LoganShelton-rh3lp for now locally. Thx for watching 👀.
Do any of your NC-1 have bright green leaves?
@studerbakercle6728 yes fresh growth.
hey Jim! people are always talking about the pawpaw taproot. is there any research behind its super sensitivity or is it something that just gets repeated over and over. ive seen pawpaws in pots, though not often. i would image thats more because of the required chill hours so theres not really a reason to keep them in pots and be mobile. would these root maker/trapper pots fly in the face of the pawpaw taproot lore as it would be air pruned like the rest of the root? thanks for your time and videos 🙏
The taproot does play an important role in the life of the tree in the way of water. However, rootmass is what pulls the nutrients from the soil feeding the tree. When looking at chill hours, the pawpaw only needs roughly 400 hours, which is only 6 days. I've found that potted up pawpaw trees will grow a new taproot once planted. Thx for watching 👀.
What is it about trees that are so fascinating to men? I started trying to bonsai some local trees where I'm at, when they got big enough i said I'd make them porch trees in pots, now I'm planting them. Mostly for deer as well, got 7 apple tree from apple seeds this spring.
Thx for watching 👀.
I like that method of repotting, thanks Jim.
Thx for watching 👀.
Do you know where can I find the fruit trapper bags that you are using in the video? Also my paw paws are just now sprouting.. Do you have a recommended source for the grafted scions?
I like your channel and your trees look great. I live in Northern Florida and am probably at the limits of where they will grow. I bought some stratified seeds last year and the plants seem healthy enough. I would like to get some named varieties but I am limited as to anything local. Before I lived too far north to grow them and now I am at the other extreme, lol. Thanks for what you do. Oh, wanted to ask where you are ?
North Central Ohio. Thx for watching 👀.
I live in SW Florida and I haven't had a PawPaw in years. Best things to eat in the hills in WVA an Eastern Ky
❤Good
Hi Jim! My 12 year old trees are suffering from what appears to be shot hole fungus & I dont know what to do.
Never heard of it 🤔.
유황을 살포하는건 어떤가요?
Very nice set up Sir 👍. I agree with small trees not hurt by sunlight.
Hello there my friend l trance planted my paw paw tree after about 25 years old tree because it was in the Sade it never fruited they say it will fruit in full sun so l re planted it l use a spayed and a lot of roots got cut out l planted it deep because it was a seedling and it’s got two tracks on it like and old fashioned sling shot we’re the Handel is it split about a foot so l put grafting wax on the split that’s why l planted it a little bit deep and l tide the branches together the tree is about 3 and a half meters . They said to me get another tree so it can pollinate the other so l got one seedling that’s about probably 20 years old about 5 years younger than the first one that’s about 2 to 2 and half meters tall l trance planted that one the next Sunday after there was a lot of roots cut out on that one too and I planted that one deep too next to each other so they can pollinate one a another will these trees recover from trance planting them will they take will they get root root will they start shooting in spring what do you say and advice do you give l don’t want to lose these trees l will do anything to save these trees please give advice l don’t want to lose 25 years of hard brake l am so stressed l can’t stop thinking about it because these trees are rare in Australia and it my favourite fruit on the planet thank you kind regards.
Thanks for sharing Jim.
Your spray can is very powerful. What brand is it?
Would it be too strong of fertilizer to overwinter my chicken coop 4 feet away from my Pawpaws? I'm in Iowa, so the coop would be close to them for about 6 months.
No that would be fine. I actually put my coop straw and poop right under trees 5ft around and probably 1ft thick. Very slow decomposition.
What dilution/strength do you use of Kelp?
One tablespoon per gallon.
Hey Jim, do you have a brand of kelp you use? Do you mix it with water?
It's called Seaweed Extract, liquefied natural kelp. Made by Growmore. Yes, it's mixed with water. Thx for watching 👀.
Thank you! I watch all your videos and will maybe see you at the Pawpaw fest this year!
I feed mine weekly

nice work Jim, I planted 3 Jiro persimmon & 2 Kieffer pears, have a bunch of wild American persimmon on my property but they're not real big/tall yet...have 3 Chinese Chestnut trees in 7 gal pots now, i'll plant them this October....Like you, i'm a bow hunter who loves deer & all animals & enjoys planting trees, etc to help them out....if i shoot 1 per year, that's fine....no big deal...keep doing what you're doing...
Thx for watching 👀
You need to do a better job of taking the camera and showing the foliage up close especially on the oaks, also was this a tree you grafted or not
This tree was purchased from Morse Nursery. However, I had grafted a piece of scion from one of these on a different area of the property in 2020, and it's doing well. Thx for watching 👀
Thanks again for sharing your tips, Jim 👍
Thx for watching 👀.
I enjoy your videos and I learn so much. I have my first paw paw trees. Two tiny sprouts from seeds! (So far.) My persimmons might be more successful and I appreciate the persimmon videos too. But I'm super excited about my baby pawpaws.
Thx for watching 👀.
I'm excited for you, too! What state are you in? I have 4 young Pawpaws in pots. They made it through my NC Iowa winter so I have hope I might get them to grow!
Well hey there !
Hahaha, good one 👍. Thx for watching 👀.
Question. If you graft 2-3 different pawpaw varieties onto the same tree. Would it fruit?? Would it pollinate each other ?
Yes, if you were able to get 2 or more varieties to live in one tree, it would be self pollinating. Thx for watching 👀
Hello Jim, is it too late to graft now next few days? On a seedling rootstock. Thank you Sir
No, it's not. Thx for watching 👀
