I think consumer feedback is more critical than ever before. Developers and publishers need to know if the products they're making are going to be successful. They need to gather as much data as possible. Surveys, play testing, betas, early access. Every source of information from the consumers is vital.
100% agree. Consumer feedback is critical, especially with shifting player expectations. And alongside user feedback, behavioral user data is quietly becoming the secret weapon here though (mobile game studios are really good at that...) - Great feedback from you :) - thanks for bringing it up.

I'm addicted to monopoly go. I used to buy into it a lot, but I rarely do it anymore, it's too expensive. I've also noticed that in the Peg E mini game, it seems rigged with a different design each time and the number of pegs make it harder to get to the center slot. I've learned my lesson, once I finish the daily tasks and build up my shields, I save the dice for the next day, it will take a while but I'm building up my dice.

I don't know where to begin. I've found out about this channels months ago and decided to subscribe curious of what it is going to be, but this video has so many red flags. 1. Pathetic attempt to join the bandwagon of culture wars, with no explanation that makes any sense at all. 2. Lack of sources and superficial coverage. 3. Repeating the same question over and over again, just to display some ads and then reply a slightly different question. "Developers" are people who work for "companies." They are not the same thing. So, you cannot explain why "developers" choose not to be credited, the case is that the companies' business strategy that prefer not to be "credited." 4. Sensationalism. Anyone who have any interest in video games know that there are outsourcing companies, and they are not that hidden. The whole point of outsourcing companies is to "rent" a working force that helps the main company achieve what they set out to achieve. It is a problem that occurs because of the arbitrary deadlines that are set by the boards, and the initial lack of work force and sensible planning. Not because some people prefer not to credit "developers" just on a whim. Quite the contrary, companies love to do things such as crediting because it doesn't cost them a penny and they make the workers slightly happier without losing anything.

In the music industry it makes sense because more credited people mens more royalties means more splits. Thats why producers use drum-kits and singer/songwriter uses ghost writers. But games have the most credited peeps in the entertainment industry so why not add a few more?

Lost me at the sbi jab, and the lack of sources. The supposed robin Williams quote is nowhere to be found. Most people know what studio develops Nintendo games, even if Nintendo doesn't disclose it until after release. Thing is, it makes sense. Imagine a new game from a Nintendo IP developed by *insert little known developer here* it could be confusing to people not as familiar with developers. Whereas retro studios is widely known and after Metroid Prime their name is synonymous with high quality. So Nintendo choosing to not disclose that a game hasn't been developed in-house works as its supposed to be a Nintendo game. Imagine apple specifying what team internally develops what. An apple product is an apple product. A Nintendo game is a Nintendo game regardless of developer.

Nice shoutout for our side of things. We also go by white label studios. Why did we do it at our studio? Money, profits and sometimes longevity in the studio. It's easier to get work when you are knowledgeable as you have covered, but what you didn't cover is that sometimes you earn two to three times as much as a white label. Much in the same way that a contractor will earn more as a staffed employee.
Very good point that these companies, as "clients", pay more for white label work. Where I used to work I think half the jobs, if not more, were like that. Our stuff is everywhere in the industry, but credit is rare.

If you're a dev in this position, fight for your rights and cite the IGDA guidelines. While they're not law, the more they are spoken and cited, hopefully the more industry used they become.

Some of us want to spend money. It's a relaxing way to distress from a stressful day.
A lot of people don't want to be hidden this way, but have no choice if they want to keep their job like you say. The choice is made by management, often before the rest are even hired. Funny that EA did the opposite a long time ago, not so much lately. Leads put their names on things and people give them the credit. Sometimes leads do help hone a vision, just like a director of a film, but they have a lot of people they work with that really gives the game its distinct identity. Do any smaller devs hide themselves like this? Interesting to learn about TOSE, hadn't heard of them before
