Unfortunately the adapter isn't rangefinder coupled. I just used the focus scale on the lens and took my best guess as to where I think my focus should be based on how far my subject was from me.

Hey! I did in fact shoot in 1080 for all of these travel clips and the final output was in 4K. The 1080 isn't as good as the 4K as there is noticeable line skipping in the footage, but the quality and flexibility from the DNG files is still there. It's a great little travel camera. When it comes to a travel rig like this one, the only thing I have I have is a lens with an ND filter and a small grip with a bottom plate. The grip is the HG-21 from Sigma and the lens is the TTArtisan 17mm f/1.4 which is an apsc lens.

Thank you Mark! I'm using the film looks because I like the way that they look. I shoot a lot of film and love the results that I get from shooting it so using the film looks in DaVinci gets my footage to a place that I quite like. And as far as I know, you can't do a color space transform to log in the raw tab.

I prefer the viewfinder in the M2 because of the magnification and the sharper lines that feel I bit cleaner. Also, the lens is a Contax G 35mm f/2 that I converted to M mount.

The F3 is an amazing camera, but I meant that the F4 is superior due to it being more technically advanced. I personally prefer the F3, but the F4 is the "superior" camera on paper.

@@michaelbennettphoto From my test, this is the best work flow so far by a LOT. I use it as a starting point, then tweak the contrast down and change the white balance and it looks excellent in 95 percent of the shots. I wish more people were like you. Funny enough I asked another RUclipsr to share his power grade and he replied "Oh, sorry, Im not able to export them from Resolve, but im working on a lut and it will be out shortly for $19.99." So exporting a power grade doesn't work, but you are exporting a lut, not suspicious at all lol. Anyways, thanks a lot, you made me enjoy the footage out of my SP.

How does it compare woth the blackmagic if you (or anyone else reading this) can compare them?

@@slackingsource as a colorist with just about 10 years of experience, i'll tell you the FP is miles ahead of blackmagic BUT and I really mean But only if you know how to color grade and push them to their limit. Blackmagic looks nicer from the starting point but with some color grading skills, it will be quickly overtaken by the fp in sheer image quality. Also with the properly sharp lenses like the sigma art primes of zeiss milvus lenses, it has the capability of capturing more detail than the blackmagic 6k is capable of resolving. It's that good. So yeah i'd recommend getting the blackmagic until youre a seasoned veteran

I fully agree. Shooting in 4K gives me absolutely amazing low light performance. The camera is a certified beast.

I know that but it doesn’t have the same focusing system as the previous Nikon F cameras so it made manual focusing harder for me

Oh I had no clue it could focus below .7 meters. But yes, it seems that my lens was the issue the whole time.

I find it pretty hard to see the 35mm frame lines with and without glasses. Due to the 1x magnification of the viewfinder the 35mm frame lines are pushed out to the very edge

You just have to use EL Zone to underexpose by about two stops (el zone stops) if you're shooting at high iso values. The higher your iso is, the more information can be recovered in the highlights. If you shoot at ISO 100, you can bring up the shadows significantly. This means you can expose lighter skin tones in a way that would normally be used for darker skin tones, so in el zone their skin will look dark green. while still maintaining detail, as you will see in post. In any case, if you just quickly expose with EL Zone, you will always have a well exposed image, and about 13 stops of Dynamic range. It's a Sony sensor, so it naturally has good dynamic range.

The information that @berlin03030 said is spot on. The biggest tip I'd give is to be careful about not blowing out the highlights, especially if your ISO is at 100. I typically shoot at 800 ISO so I have the most balanced dynamic range above and below middle gray. I made a video about how I rig my FP for filmmaking where I briefly talked about this. I currently have some knockoff NPF style batteries, but I'm paling on buying the Wasabi Power NPF style batteries.

Ohhhh I would love to shoot with an F2 someday. I think they're one of the most beautiful cameras ever made. I've had an F4 and now an F3 and I they're such good cameras.

@@michaelbennettphoto yeah had an F4. But I got a bad copy so it went back. Would love an F3 . (But do I need it ? ) The F2 my friend is just a mechanical work of art .my copy hand assembled in 1974 ,times I just take it out and look at it. And think wow the old timers they got some things just perfect,this camera is a photographic tool that will still be working when I am gone. The F5 well all the Same with electronics for an easy or lazy day out. just a joy to use and it certainly inspires confidence. So for me NIKON is king The F F2 F3 F4 F5 All pro cameras that speak for themselves. Best wishes from the Irish Republic

The F3 is an absolute beast of a camera! I've never tried it with the MD-4 but I'm sure it's amazing!
