Day in the Life of a Green Cemetery Director
This lady seems annoyed at any practical questions being asked. She seems very rigid about her time and monies owed to her and doesnt seem empathetic at all. All about the dollar for her.....
Is there a difference when the person passing is a child? And I'm curious about emotions, how to control your emotions when there is so much grief and pain around you?
This chat has been counter productive for the lady that was being interviewed 😂
Sorry, but these two young women come across as cold and way too interested in what they look like on camera rather than sincere and warm. The one from LA, seriously ... your glasses are HUGE and falling off your face -- you have a master's degree and don't know that your glasses are way too big?! You're way too obsessed with the wrong things .. money being first. It doesn't jive that you were EVER a chaplain ... no wonder you failed at it. Yes, I said it. For anyone reading this that truly is interested in becoming a death doula, check out Alua Arthur with Going with Grace. She's the real deal and left her career as an attorney to pursue her life's passion.
I am a hospice nurse thinking about becoming an official doula. I am just starting to train. I found that she does come across like “show me the money!” But, I did appreciate her sharing all this valuable information that we really need to learn about if we want to venture into the Doula business. I am sure she is warm and empathetic with her clients or she would not be sought after. Just my humble opinion. ❤
I absolutely agree, except I detect no warmth. I'm an empath and saw shallowness and coldness in these two immediately. I watched Alua Arthur beforehand and found her to be the exact opposite. Just my opinion.
I have been a hospice RN for over 25 years- Now venturing out to be a n EOL Doula
I came to the comments to see if people were picking up on the same thing I was. And indeed there’s a sort of coldness that comes across that others have also picked up on. Boundaries and marketing are one half in this line of work, but I’m assuming the other half is warmth and compassion which I didn’t see here.
she is all about the business isn't she?
Her perspective and suggestions are very helpfuk, I have decided to read her book and have to add - she is totally gorgeous!
I have been having difficulty getting the email for this program. It just never sends it, any advice on getting the packet?
How is this different from 5 wishes?
Just read Sallie’s article in Tricycle about euthanasia and pets. I fell in love with her writing. Her writing touched my heart as it mirrored my experience when I had my cat, who was dying from kidney disease euthanized. Thank you Sallie from the bottom of my heart for validating my experience and struggle. You are a great writer!
People have a right to live. I hate these murderous scum. They should face criminal charges for murder. Try with me and I will press charges got it? You never kill me never. Got it Canada??
At 9:55 what is meant by death doula la?
I am sorry but what do you mean that you don't sit during a vigil? You don't help prepare the space for dying with the family? You aren't there holding their hands? And what is a fly by on a patient? I am a tiny bit confused on what you do then. Hospice offers all of that without an additional fee. I am trying to understand why would I hire a death doula when it doesn't seem that I get much from it. What if I don't have family?
I am studying becoming a death doula. Thank you for this videos, ladies! These perspectives will help me utilize food in a whole new way.
On my journey on becoming a death doula. I love this conversation. Thank you for sharing this conversation
This was so informative and interesting. I appreciate your time and energy in putting this video together.
Absolutely loved this talk! Thank you both so much ❤❤❤!! Love you, Gabor!!
I am 85 look think like 60 outwardly strong confident successful inwardly anxious ibs nerve pain insomnia etc .you are the most experienced insightful wise dr ever flawed too?, you belong to my tribe, I will never give up my search for freedom from fear loneliness etc. luv ya!
I wish Dr Mate had been my husband's palliative doctor. Thank you for your work.
This video came along rt now to teach me something and the timing is not by accident. Just what I needed to hear while recognizing my love for others is and has been first before myself as I grew up always thinking of others and it was part of my life to often turn the other cheek to those who hurt me. I thought it was bringing me closer to God. I never learned to put myself first until I was deep into codependency loving those who hurt me always and forgiving no matter what. I grew up having compassion for others and found that to be my life's purpose. I still give and have compassion but have learned to recognize the signs of caring too much then I back off and do lots of self care and love. Sometimes my boundaries suffer but then I suffer when my boundaries are broken too often. It is hard to remember to always put urself first so you can then in turn help those you love.
What IS she looking at off too the side! RUDE!
She’s reading the questions from the q&a. She mentions it in the first few minutes
Sorry, a minute in and you were not engaging. Sadly, as I was looking forward to this, having an extensive history in this field.
This is great, and just what I needed to plan a hybrid service for a dear friend. Did you realize that your screen size doesn't match your video so that the left hand side of the screen is hidden as is the right side, and therefore half the face of the speaker.
That was sooo insightful and helpful. Many thanks to you both So much gold in there. 💛💛💛
I have heard ayahuasca mentioned in several different Gabor Mate videos. Is it an intregal part of the healing when implementing the Compassionate Inquiry that Dr. Mate uses to bring out the hurtful underlying traumas from childhood?
No, it’s just one way to do it. Working with ayahuasca is a good fit for some and not for others. I’ve worked with it, it’s for sure intense, but it’s not a necessary piece. I hope that helps.
only 40 minutes 😔 please invite hime again
I love this man. Gabor Mate exudes compassion, empathy and a deep respect for humanity not found in everywhere, for sure.
"'Creation' forwarding its best! That is, a through-and-through human-being, who reciprocates what life has forwarded him." "I am not the product of myself. I am the sum total of all that l’ve encountered. Honor our Creator, plus all our creators, & give back to life, for what life has given to us." ~ Paul Jung
What a great way to explain trauma. So obvious when you put it like that.
Thank you Ladies for producing this interesting video. I would like to hear more from both of you. What are the contact possibilities? Please email me. I subscribed to the channel.

When is the next session?
Oh wow... He stayed back to take questions. Amazing this guy.
RUclips noticed that I was watching this and suggested a video titled A Day in the Life of a Death Doula. Quite interesting.
Hello! I learned of Death Dinners and watched a video. RUclips being RUclips. More specifically the RUclips robot being the RUclips robot and being programmed as it is to send what it perceives as being of interest, placed your video in the Upnext slot. So I selected it. Thanks for creating this.
I learned of this while reading an article today in the Wall Street Journal. That article talks about perceptions regarding funeral homes. My experience with funeral homes has been positive. Helpful emotionally. Sharing all aspects and all emotions that arise. Loss of a very young child. Loss of teenagers. Loss of mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, friends. My experience with death expanded once I became an EMT. Many of us have had brushes with death. I have had many. Thanks for creating this space for folks to talk about death.
putting the FUN back in FUNeral since 1955!...
Excellent! I am seventy four years old. The statistical lifespan is eighty years. So, statistically, I have six more years to live. I have been proactive. I have created a will and shared it with my children. I have visited my local funeral home and created a contract and I have prepaid. I have created two end of life documents. One for EMTs/Paramedics which is attached to my refrigerator with a magnet. Another more in depth non emergency related. I will be seeing my children over the holidays. This is a good segue. Shared with my brother who is not very far behind me.
This is great! :^) Stumbled upon this thru FB, in my End of Life Doula training... * Are you by chance going to update the description to include the links and other material collected from the chat during this event? Towards the end, there was a moment where all of you were sort of wiggling with pleasure, and talked about release. I couldn't help but think about TRE (Trauma Release Exercises), and it suddenly struck me that the shaking/mini-convulsions done in TRE could actually overlap in a sexual/sensual way--thereby tying trauma, grief, and sex all together physically. Anyone know anything about intentionally combining those things? I can think of a few times in my life, deep in grief and sorrow, being comforted by someone/or comforting someone, and having it spontaneously turn sexual. They were all intensely beautiful experiences. We are so very vulnerable when deep in a good sobbing, that it is a delicate situation to intertwine it with sex--but when everything aligns, it is healing to the core. P.S. The situation is delicate--that doesn't mean the sex would be... necessarily ;^)
Thank you so much Gabor You are truly amazing and I agree with you 100% on everything that you say great minds think a like
this is absolultely excellent in every way. thank you! Oceanna's slow rocking in the lower screen holds perfect space and rhythm for this conversation so perfectly. I was deeply soothed by this listening. thank you again!
I liked what you said about women and wills. We have helped thousands of families and individuals live better for longer, with 30 years of experience dealing with legal documents at Elder law, Arkansas USA. We are here to make you feel in more control of your affairs.
Gabor is such a beautiful human being
